134. The Sacrifice of the Wen Siblings

Wen Ning’s pupils had fallen into the whites of his eyes again. He was already out of his rampage, appearing to be conversing with Wen Qing in a low voice. Seeing that Wei WuXian opened his eyes, he kneeled to the ground in silence. Wen Qing, on the other hand, said nothing with her red eyes.

Wei WuXian sat up.

"Uh-oh it will not be good." said Nie Huaisang.

"The moment Jin Zixuan dies, no good will happen afterwards." said Wei Wuxian.

"Let's just all be strong for the upcoming events. A-xian, a-cheng, since you know from the beginning that I died, I want the both of you to be strong and have trust with each strong enough to not be destroyed." said Jiang Yanli.

"Jie, our parents is hard to accept, what do you think of yours? We don't want to lose you after all." said Jiang Cheng.

"Wouldn't your death will just take my life straight away?" he asked.

"A-cheng, I wouldn't die in this lifetime. Besides, a-cheng, you will always have a reason to live." said Jiang Yanli.

"Don't worry, shijie. Me and ChengCheng do love one another that pur trust won't waver but, I can't help it, I can't take it when I have to watch you dying." said Wei Wuxian.

"Death is inevitable. Everyone dies, a-xian. It's hard but we have to accept and continue living. That's what the two of you should do." said Jiang Yanli.

"Besides, I promise that I wouldn't leave the two of you. Even if you will stay with Lan Wangji in Cloud Recesses or travel around the world, you'll come back and I will welcome you with an open arms. Same with you, a-cheng." she added.

"I love the two of you, so much." she smiled warmly at his brothers who one, is in the verge of tearing up and the other is frowning deeply with unreadable emotion.

After a while of silence, waves of hatred suddenly whirled within his heart.

He stepped onto Wen Ning’s chest, kicking him to the ground.

Wen Qing jolted. She clenched her hands, but still looked down, her mouth shut.

Wei WuXian roared, “Who did you kill? Do you know who you killed?!”

"I-I'm s-sorry." Wen Ning stuttered.

"What are you sorry for? You didn't do anything." said Jin Zixuan.

"Right, Wen-qianbe. Don't blame yourself." said Sizhui.

"In fact, no one should blame themselves. Blame those who are the reason why it happened." said Jingyi.

"You knew them." he added while glaring at the Jins.

At this point, with a grass butterfly on his head, Wen Yuan ran in from outside, beaming, “Brother Xian…”

He was originally going to show Wei WuXian the butterfly that he painted in new colors. Yet, when he came in, he saw a demon that was Wei WuXian and Wen Ning curled up on the ground. At once, he was shocked speechless. Wei WuXian spun around. He hadn’t held back his emotions yet, his eyes almost frightening. Wen Yuan was so scared that his entire person jerked. The butterfly fell from on top of his head and onto the ground. He began to wail at once. Stooping, Uncle Four hurried in and carried him away.

"Wei-xiong looks scary." said Nie Huaisang.

"Even more scarier than Jiang-xiong's normal glares." he added.

"How could you compare Wei Wuxian's glare full of hatred and pain to mine. I simply glare for simple reason." said Jiang Cheng.

"Well, I really look scary that's why I feel sorry for the kid for seeing that." said Wei Wuxian.

"Jingyi, tell your gege that I'm sorry for scaring him when you're back, okay." he added with a small smile.

"Sure, but, we're already used of that look since you like to glare at those stupid sect leaders during conferences." said Jingyi with a grin.

After having been kicked over, Wen Ning climbed up again and kneeled down properly, saying nothing. Grabbing his collar, Wei WuXian lifted him up and shouted, “You could’ve killed anyone—why did you have to kill Jin ZiXuan?!”

Wen Qing watched from the side. She seemed as if she wanted to rush up and protect her brother, but forced herself to hold back. Tears of sorrow and fear rolled down her cheeks.

Wei WuXian, “With him dead, what is Shijie supposed to do? What is Shijie’s son supposed to do?! What am I supposed to do?! What about me?!”

Jiang Yanli sobs.

"Maybe, a-ning will have to pay for Jin Zixuan's death." said Wen Qing.

"You don't have to do anything since it was not entirely your fault and things are beyond your control." she added.

"A-xian, I know that it hurts but all we have to do mourn and then step forward." said Jiang Yanli.

"But, Jin Guangshan wouldn't just mourn but will also take that chance to proceed with his plans." said Wen Rouhan.

"Mainly, Wei Wuxian's demise and took over." he added.

His shouted echoed throughout the cave, spreading outside. Wen Yuan cried even more.

With the child’s cries coming to his ears from afar and the scared siblings who were at a complete loss as to what to do in his eyes, Wei WuXian felt his heart sink lower into darkness. He asked himself, Just why have I been locking myself up on Burial Mound all these years? Why do I have to go through all this? Why did I choose to walk this path in the beginning? Why did I make myself like this? What do others see me as? Just what have I gained? Have I gone mad? Have I gone mad? Have I gone mad?!

If only he didn’t choose this path in the beginning.

"Yeah, why did you choose that path in the beginning other than it helps you survive the Burial Mound?" asked Su She with a scoff.

"Maybe for fame." he added.

"I rather live in secrecy that live in fame where it will only ruin my name and reputation. Maybe, I choose that path to teach assholes like you." said Wei Wuxian.

"Wei Ying doesn't have to choose that path just to teach him and people like him a lesson." said Lan Wangji.

"As of now, he is still a disciple of Gusu Lan. Whatever rule he break which only increases as time passes by, he will have to take punishment, accordingly." said Lan Xichen.

"What if we want him gone?" asked Jiang Cheng.

"He like to butt in in a situation that doesn't concern him." he added with a glare.

"Death could also be a punishment, my first son-in-law." said Qingheng-jun.

Suddenly, Wen Ning whispered, “… I’m… sorry.”

This was a corpse, expressionless, eyes unable to feel warmth, tears unable to fall. However, at this very moment, on the corpse’s face was genuine pain.

He repeated, “I’m sorry… I-It was all my fault… I’m sorry…”

"Don't be sorry." said Jin Zixuan.

"I also have fault." he added.

"If only the people in our timeline could be like every one of you. Maybe, the peace was attained way more earlier and the world won't be covered with so much lies." said Jin Ling.

"It depends on a person, Jin Ling." said Wei Wuxian.

Listening to him stutter as he apologized over and over again, all of a sudden, Wei WuXian felt extremely ridiculous.

It wasn’t Wen Ning’s fault at all.

It was his own fault.

"You know whose fault it was really is?" asked Sizhui.

"It was those cultivators who ambushed him." he said.

"A-niang wouldn't be in that situation and nothing might have happened if they didn't do it just for the sake of a curse that a-niang didn't even did." he added.

"They're the one who should suffer." said Jingyi.

"Don't worry, they will." said Jiang Cheng as he glared at Jin Zixun.

When on a rampage, Wen Ning was nothing more than a weapon. The person who created the weapon was him. The things it listens to were his orders as well.

At that time, with all the tension and the killing intent on top of how Wei WuXian had never hesitated to show enmity toward Jin ZiXuan in front of Wen Ning, when he was unconscious, Wen Ning recognized Jin ZiXuan as an ‘enemy’ when he attacked, carrying out the order of ‘exterminate’ without a second thought.

"If only Jin Zixuan and Wei Wuxian didn't argue then, Wen Ning wouldn't have done it." said Jiang Cheng.

"The peacock shouldn't have gone there, you say." said Wei Wuxian.

"Fine, we all have made mistakes but, what happened there already happened. All we could do is stop it from happening in this timeline." said Jin Zixuan.

"Then, don't act reckless like you can save the day." said Jiang Cheng.

"Your death is the root of the reason why Wei Wuxian was in that situation." he added.

"I agree." said Nie Huaisang.

"Wei-xiong and the Wens lived in the Burial Mound quite fine until Jin Ling's birthday celebration." he added.

He was the one who couldn’t control such a weapon. He was the one who grew to confident in his own abilities. He was also the one who ignored all of the ominous indications that had happened up to now, with the belief that he could suppress any loss of control.

Wen Ning was a weapon, but did he come to be a weapon out of his own will?

"He is no weapon." said the juniors.

"He is a friend, a trusted one." Sizhui added.

"Maybe, I shouldn't be too confident when it comes to resentment energy." said Wei Wuxian.

"What are you trying to say?" Jiang Cheng asked.

"You won't come in contact with the resentment energy this time when we already how it could affect you." he added.

"Resentment energy shouldn't be used." said Qingheng-jun.

"Whether it is for good or bad, one shouldn't take that path. It will only bring harm and chaos." he added.

Could such a timid, stuttering person have been happy, killing all those people under Wei WuXian’s orders?

Back then, he received a bowl of lotus root soup that Jiang YanLi gave him. He took it all the way up Burial Mound, not letting a single drop spill. Although he himself couldn’t drink it, he watched someone else finish it with content, even asking what it tasted like as he tried to imagine it in his mind. Could he possibly be feeling anywhere near fine, having killed Jiang YanLi’s husband with his own hands? He not only took all of the faults as his own, but was also apologizing to him.

"That's the consequences of reviving a person who is already dead." said Jin Zixun.

"He didn't do anything to you at all." said Wei Wuxian.

"Even if he's a fierce corpse, at least he knew what's right and what to do not like you who have a life yet have a brain as small as pea." he added.

The juniors snickered at that.

"Wei-xiong is slowly adapting Jiang-xiong's attitude. What if he end up like him where it will take time for people to recover from their insults." laughed Nie Huaisang.

"It's not an insult at all." said Jiang Cheng.

"We are just way too honest, sometimes. No offence, really." he added.

Clenching Wen Ning’s collar, Wei WuXian looked at his pale, lifeless face. Before his eyes suddenly appeared Jin ZiXuan’s smeared face, covered in dirt and blood. They were the same paleness, the same lifelessness.

He also remembered Jiang YanLi, who finally married the person she loved after overcoming so many difficulties. He remembered the son of Jin ZiXuan and Jiang YanLi, A-Ling, the child who received his courtesy name from him. He was still so young. Just seven days after he was born, he knew to laugh whenever he saw his father’s sword. Both of his parents were ecstatic. His full-month celebration was just a few days later.

As he thought and thought about it, Wei WuXian suddenly broke into tears.

"A-xian." Jiang Yanli mumbled as she goes to comfort his brother.

"Shijie, I ruined your happiness, didn't I?" Wei Wuxian asked.

"You ruined nothing. Future you or present you. My happiness lies within you and a-cheng." said Jiang Yanli.

"Peacock is just a bonus, then." Wei Wuxian chuckled.

"Shijie, I love you so much." he whispered.

"I know but, don't say that. I don't want to be the target of your lover's jealousy." said Jiang Yanli.

"I understand Wei Ying loves for you, sister-in-law." said Lan Wangji.

"Really?" Jiang Cheng asked.

"Mn." Lan Wangji nodded.

"First time I saw you not getting jealous." said Jiang Cheng.

"Sister-in-law isn't a threat." said Lan Wangji.

"But you can see Jiang-xiong as a threat?" asked Nie Huiasang.

"Because my two sister-in-law are two different people." said Lan Wangji.

"Young Maiden Jiang loves Wei Ying as a brother only while Jiang Wanyin–" Lan Wangji was cut off by an angry voice.

"What are trying to say? That I love Wei Wuxian not as a brother but more?" Jiang Cheng asked angrily.

"No." said Lan Wangji with a glare.

"I mean, you're a threat because you're a man." said Lan Wangji.

"Why don't you try to stop that jealous feeling inside you? Wei Wuxian won't left you for another. Look at Lan Huan, he didn't get jealous of anyone." said Jiang Cheng.

"Xiongzhang is way more worse than me, honestly." said Lan Wangji.

"Agree. Lets go back to watching?" asked the juniors.

His voice was submerged in a deep helplessness, “… Can someone tell me… what I’m supposed to do now?”

In the past, there were only others who asked him what to do. Now, though, he was the one asking others what he should do, and nobody was able to give him an answer.

"What are you supposed to do? Other than hiding in that cave of yours?" Jin Zixun scoffed.

"What don't you get out of that place and face all of us." he asked.

"How could I face you? You're dead, don't you remember?" Wei Wuxian asked.

The smirk on Jin Zixun's face faded.

Suddenly, Wei WuXian felt a faint pain at the side of his neck, as if he’d been stabbed by a sharp needle. He felt his body grow numb all over. Having been caught off guard due to the momentary absent-mindedness, he only realized what was happening after a few moments had passed. Involuntarily, he had already collapsed onto the rock bed. At first, he could still raise his arm, but soon, even his arm crashed onto the bed. He could no longer move.

With red eyes, Wen Qing slowly removed her right hand, “… I’m sorry.”

"Qing-jiejie, why did you do that?" Wei Wuxian asked.

"Are you planning something?" he added.

Wen Qing gave him a look.

"I won't like it." said Wei Wuxian.

"After Jin Zixuan's death, what will you like when it might be another death." said Jiang Cheng.

She shouldn’t have been able to land an attack on Wei WuXian with her speed, but Wei WuXian wasn’t on the alert at all. With the pain, Wei WuXian felt his mind calm down a bit as well. His Adam’s apple bobbed before he opened his mouth, “What are you doing?”

Wen Qing and Wen Ning exchanged a glance. Standing before him, in unison, they granted him a solemn salutation.

"What are you two saluting me for?" asked Wei Wuxian.

He suddenly stood up and faced the Wens siblings.

"You're not going to do that!" he yelled.

"Do what?" Jiang Yanli asked.

"Shijie, they will do something." said Wei Wuxian.

"Like what? Go to Lanling and give their selves voluntarily?" asked Jiang Cheng.

"Exactly!" Wei Wuxian exclaimed.

"Death is what awaits them." said Jiang Cheng.

"It won't do anything good at all." he added.

Wen Qing just stay silent.

Seeing this, a restless sense of foreboding rose within Wei WuXian, “What are you going to do? Just what are you doing?”

Wen Qing, “When you woke up, we were in the middle of discussing it. I think we’ve come to a conclusion.”

Wei WuXian, “Discussing what? Stop talking nonsense. Take out the needle—let me go!”

Wen Ning slowly got up from the ground. His head still hung low, “Sister and I have come to a conclusion. We’ll be going to Koi Tower to give ourselves up.”

"What the f*ck?!" Jiang Cheng and Wei Wuxian cursed loudly.

"Do they think that by simply giving themselves up to the Jins they will be at peace?" Jiang Cheng asked.

"If we give ourselves up, they will Wei Wuxian and others alone. They won't do anything to them." said Wen Qing.

"Impossible!" Wei Wuxian yelled.

"That's entirely impossible. They won't do just that." he said.

"Wei Wuxian is their target. They won't stop until Wei Wuxian is gone for good." said Jiang Cheng.

"And do you think I will let the both of you? No." said Wei Wuxian.

"As you can see, you can't do anything to stop us." said Wen Qing.

"Wen Ning is the one who give the blow, it means he's the one who will pay for it." she added.

"A-yuan, they won't do it, right?" Wei Wuxian asked his son.

"I'm sorry, a-niang." Sizhui said in a low voice.

“Give yourselves up?” Wei WuXian was shocked, “How are you going to do that? Apologize? Surrender?”

Wen Qing rubbed her eyes, her expression appearing to be calm, “Yes, more or less. In the days you were down, the LanlingJin Sect sent people to give a few words at Burial Mound.”

Wei WuXian, “Give a few words about what? Don’t talk one word at a time. Say it all at once! Finish your explanation!”

Wen Qing, “The LanlingJin Sect wanted you to give them an answer. The answer would be to hand over the two leaders of the remaining Wen Sect members, especially the Ghost General.”

“…” Wei WuXian, “I’m warning you two. Get this needle out of me right now.”

"Please, don't leave." said Wei Wuxian.

"They will the both of you without mercy at all." he added.

"We were supposed to be dead, we were given that chance to continue living and I know it won't last long." said Wen Qing.

"Just appreciate as my thank you." he added.

"Thank you, my a**. I don't accept it." said Wei Wuxian.

"Whether you can accept it or not, I am dead in their timeline. Don't forget that." said Wen Qing.

Wen Qing continued on, “The leaders of the remaining Wen Sect members—that’s us. According to them, if you hand us over, this incident would temporarily be considered over as well. Then, we might have you on the bed for a couple more days. The effects of the needle inside of you would cease in three days’ time. I’ve talked to Uncle Four about it already. He’ll watch over you and let you out if an emergency happens within the three days.”

Wei WuXian raged, “You can shut the fuck up! It’s already pandemonium the way things are right now! You two can stop adding more trouble onto my platter. Give yourselves in my ass. Did I tell you to do this? Take it out!”

"Why do people in your timeline loves to sacrifice so much?" asked Jiang Cheng.

"Sacrifices that goes into nothing." said Jingyi.

"They don't have to sacrifice themselves because I am not the one who is at fault." said Wei Wuxian.

"Wen Ning killed them but it was a battle of life. Death is inevitable besides, they're the one who started it." he added.

"You can force them to just accept that, you know." said Wen Qing.

"Our side is on the losing end." she added.

"Jiang Cheng, do something." said Wei Wuxian.

"What can I do? I am in no control of it." said Jiang Cheng.

Wen Qing and Wen Ning stood still, arms limp. Their silence was the same. Wei WuXian had no strength in his body. His struggles were of no use, and nobody listened to him either. All at once, there seemed to be no strength in his heart either.

He could neither shout nor move, rasping, “Why are you going to Koi Tower? I wasn’t the one who cursed him with Hundred Holes at all…”

Wen Qing, “But they have set their minds that it was you.”

"F*ck them! F*ck them all!" Wei Wuxian shouted making some people shiver.

"A-niang, please." Sizhui tried to calm him.

"Those who are at fault was already dead. We already gave them justice." he said.

"But, they didn't have to die for me." said Wei Wuxian.

"They didn't deserve to die at all." he added.

"Wei Ying, they won't die in this lifetime." said Lan Wangji.

"We are here to protect them." he added as he hugged the man.

"No need. We're not doing that needed protection." said Wen Qing.

"My uncle is in right mind, he won't do anything to cause something like what he did in the future. We will all live in peace." she added.

"Only if a certain someone is gone." Wen Rouhan said with a dark look.

Jin Guangshan and some people on his side shivered seeing his glare.

Wei WuXian tried his best to think of ways to deal with this. Suddenly, he thought of something, “Then find the real person who set the curse! Jin ZiXun’s definitely gone to experts of cursing. The most common way to deal with these curses is to hit them back, let the effects rebound back to the one who placed the curse. Even if not all of the power could be rebounded, a large portion can. We can just look for someone who has the same curse marks on them!”

Wen Qing, “There’s no use.”

Wei WuXian, “Why not?”

Wen Qing, “There are so many people—where could we look for them? Set up a checkpoint on every street of every city and make everyone take off their clothes so that we can check?”

Wei WuXian protested, “Why not?”

Wen Qing, “Who’d be willing to set up these checkpoints for you? And for how long do you intend to search? We could perhaps find them after eight or ten years, but would those people be willing to wait?”

Wei WuXian, “But there are no rebounded curse marks on me!”

"Jins have no patient to wait." said Lan Qiren with a glare as he give Jin Guangshan a look.

"They don't care about the death so much. Their goal is to wipe you out along with your power in order for them to lead without someone going against them." said Jiang Cheng.

"That's his son!" Wei Wuxian exclaimed.

"He have a lot of sons." said Jin Zixuan.

"He could just simply look for one then gave them the position of an heir." he added.

Wen Qing, “During today’s incident, did they ask you?”

Wei WuXian, “No.”

Wen Qing, “That’s right. They didn’t ask. They straight-up prepared to kill you. Do you understand now? They don’t need any proof. They don’t need you to find the truth either. Whether or not you have curse marks on your body doesn’t matter at all. You’re the YiLing Patriarch, the King of the Demonic Path. You specialize in dark curses, so it wouldn’t even be strange if you didn’t have curse marks on you. On top of that, you didn’t have to do it yourself. You could’ve gotten Wen-dogs, your slaves, to do it for you. It’s you no matter what. You won’t be able to deny it.”

Wei WuXian cursed.

"You Wens aren't my slaves." said Wei Wuxian.

"But, that's how the cultivation world saw it." said Wen Qing.

"If I ever know how to put that hundred holes curse, I would curse each and everyone who ambushed me and the one who put that f*cking curse in the first place." said Wei Wuxian.

"Wei Ying." Lan Wangji called.

"You won't do such thing. It can kill you." he added.

Wen Qing waited quietly for him to finish cursing, “And so, you see? There’s no use. With the way things are, the identity of the one who placed the curse of Hundred Holes is no longer important. What’s important is the fact that the hundreds of people at Qiongqi path and… Jin ZiXuan were indeed killed by A-Ning.”

Wei WuXian, “… But, but…”

But what? He himself didn’t even know what to put after ‘but’. He couldn’t think of a reason to give, an excuse to use.

"You don't have to do anything." said Wen Qing.

"Maybe, it's a perfect time for us to repay you." she added.

"Repay me for what? You don't have to repay me anything. I don't need it." said Wei Wuxian.

"Wei Wuxian, you said you want me to your older sibling." said Wen Qing.

"Then, let me tell you, older siblings will do everything to protect and care for their younger siblings." she added.

"Are those who I treat as my older siblings died? Does it bring them death when they have me? Shijie is dead in the future. Now, Wen Qing is going to sacrifice herself along with his little brother just for me." Wei Wuxian muttered.

"You don't bring them death, a-niang. What they did is to protect you because they love you and you're important to them." said Sizhui.

"A-niang, I know it's hard to accept seeing how your self suffered in the future but you have a-die, you have your siblings, and other people who slowly grew fond of you. You're not alone in this timeline, a-niang. We want your happiness to stay with you. We will do our best to change the course of the future just for you guys to be safe and away from the danger we all faced." he added.

"How did I able to have such son like you? Thank you." Wei Wuxian said as he wiped the tears that fall down from his eyes.

"We Lans tend to take of our mother to the best we can. They're our first priority in every situation." said Sizhui.

"Even me and Jingyi fights because of you and Jiang-jiujiu. But, I learned that Jiang-jiujiu have secret of his own and doesn't want to share and I'm sorry for blaming him of what happened to you after the fall of Lotus Pier." he added.

"But a-niang, we all love you." he continued as he hugged the man along with his father.

"Jiang-jiujiy, please don't let your relationship with my a-niang break like what happened in the future. It also hurt us seeing how the two of you avoided each for a year before you both decided to have a serious talk and build your relationship again." he said as he goes to hug his uncle.

"Don't worry, I won't." said Jiang Cheng.

"You also became a parent figure to me back then when I was young." said Sizhui.

"Other than a-die, you're the only who spoke about him without resentment." he added.

"That's when I found out that he's somewhat related to you and misses him." he continued.

"Shut up. Who would miss that person." Jiang Cheng said grumpily.

Wei Wuxian smiled at him and mouthed a 'thank you'.

He spoke, “… But even then, I should be the one going. I was the one who made the corpses kill the people. Why would the knife go instead of the murderer?”

Wen Qing, “Isn’t it better this way?”

Wei WuXian, “Better as in what?!”

"It's no better at all, Qing-jiejie." said Wei Wuxian.

"Wei Wuxian, thank you." said Wen Qing.

"For everything you did and sacrifices for us." she added.

"Can I hug you?" Wei Wuxian asked.

"No." said Wen Qing but the man didn't even listen and instead he goes to her in a speed and hug her, grabbing Wen Ning along.

"My nephews." said Wen Rouhan.

"Don't worry, they will pay for what they did to the three of you." he added.

Wen Qing’s voice was calm, “Wei Ying, we both know. Wen Ning is a knife, a knife that scares them, but also a knife that they use as an excuse to attack you. If we go, without the knife, they’d no longer have an excuse. This entire thing might finally be over.”

Wei WuXian stared at her in shock. He suddenly let out a meaningless roar.

"It won't be over." Wei Wuxian whispered, still hugging the Wen siblings.

"It will be over. Soon." said Wen Qing.

He finally understood why Jiang Cheng would always express extreme anger toward certain things he did, why he’d always say that he had a hero complex, why he’d always seem as if he’d like to beat him up. Watching others take the responsibility onto their shoulders no matter what, insist on bearing all of the negative consequences, unable to be stopped at all—the feeling was the utmost detestable!

"Well, ChengCheng is always right." said Wei Wuxian.

"I should listen to him from now on." he added.

"No, do what your self wants. You don't have to listen to me." said Jiang Cheng with a frown.

"My brother. You really love me." said Wei Wuxian as he grinned while walking to the man.

"Whatever on your head, Wei Wuxian, you better stop it. I don't want to die yet." said Jiang Cheng as he felt Lan Wangji's glare on him.

"You let my son hug you for so long yet you're rejecting me. That's unacceptable." said Wei Wuxian as he locked his brother in his arms.

Wei WuXian, “Do you two understand or not? By giving yourselves in at Koi Tower—what would happen to you two, especially Wen Ning? Aren’t you the one who loves this brother of yours the most?”

Wen Qing, “Whatever that happens to him would be what he deserves.”

No. Wen Ning didn’t deserve it at all. He was the one who deserved it.

"I agree, Wen Ning didn't deserve to die especially when he's the most innocent." said Wei Wuxian.

"That's life. Those who are innocent are mostly blamed, it's unfair." said Nie Huaisang.

"That's why we seek revenge." he added.

"I don't seek revenge." said Wei Wuxian.

"I let karma hit them." he added.

Wen Qing, “Anyhow, we should’ve been dead since a long time ago. These days have been a strike of luck for us.”

Wen Ning nodded.

He was always like this, nodding at whatever others said, agreeing and never objecting. Wei WuXian had never abhorred his nod and his docility so much.

"Next time Wen Ning, don't just listen to others. Sometimes they will take advantage of it." said Wei Wuxian.

Wen Ning nodded.

"He's only like that when he's with someone he is familiar with." said Wen Qing.

Wen Qing squatted by the bed. Gazing at his face, she suddenly reached out and flicked her finger against Wei WuXian’s forehead.

She put quite some strength into her flick. Wei WuXian frowned from the pain. Seeing this, Wen Qing seemed to be in a much better mood, “I’ve said what I had to say, explained things, said farewell. Then, good-bye.”

Wei WuXian, “No…”

"Guess that our last meeting." said Wen Qing.

"Why are you guys so chill? I can't even take it myself." said Wei Wuxian.

"I hate it when people say farewell. It hurts." he sobs.

"It feel like it is a goodbye of a lifetime. Qing-jiejie don't do that. Don't say that either." he continued.

"What else should I say except our farewell?" Wen Qing asked.

"I'm chill because I knew I didn't last there. The pain is more lesser if you won't expect so much." she said.

"Don't be like that. It's death, no one could be calm like you." said Wei Wuxian.

"I don't fear death. I just fear for my brother's safety." said Wen Qing.

Wen Qing interrupted him, “I’ve never really said such things to you before. But now that it’s today, there are indeed a few things I should say. I really won’t get a chance to say them after this.”

Wei WuXian whispered, “… Shut up… Let me go…”

Wen Qing, “I’m sorry. And, thank you.”

"I'm sorry for making you put your reputation on line just to save us and thank you for giving us another chance in living even though it's short-lived." said Wen Qing.

"T-thank y-you, W-Wei-gongzi." said Wen Ning.

Wei Wuxian cried silently, letting his tears fall down in his face while looking at the siblings.

He run to them again and settled on sobbing on Wen Qing shoulder.

"Always take good care of yourself." Wen Qing whispered.

"For we are not always there to take good care of you." she added.
