Becca's POV

I am currently running away from the screaming salesclerk into the bustling mall. Although I was obviously expecting it to be busy today here because of Christmas coming up, I didn't anticipate all the people that are here for all the holiday sales. I really should have though. Anyways, you're probably asking yourself right now, why would Rebecca Louise Chadwick be running away from a mall employee? Well to answer your question, the clerk was accusing me of stealing a -super cute- shoulder bag from the store he works for, forever 21. I keep asking myself why would I do that? Im not that desperate in life.

I keep running until the screams and shouts from behind me fade. Now all I hear is the tons of people rushing in and out of stores.

I decide to head into a store for a little more browsing. I see a cool pair of pants, and I shove a pair under my arm to try on in the changing rooms. As I'm making my way to the changing rooms, I look around me to see if I can find anything else I could buy for any of my book club friends, particularly Megan. The rest of them aren't all fashion type of people. I am rummaging through a rack of pretty pink sweaters when someone taps me on the shoulder.

"Hello!" I hear. I turn around, and I see Kevin Mullins of all people looking down at me.

"Um, hi Kevin!" I say back, not as enthusiastic. What I really want to say to him is to bug off, but jess keeps telling us to be nice to him, and hey, its Christmas...

"So.... Um, what are you doing here?" He asks, stuffing his hands into his pockets.

I sigh. Kevin, I guess, is the kind of person who will always stay awkward no matter what. "Oh you know.... Hunting elephants..." Oh well... I guess that whole being nice thing didn't turn out too well... Well, in my opinion, Kevin dodged a bullet. What I really wanted to say was, the question is... What are you doing in a girl store? You see?! I spared him!

"Oh OK..." He says awkwardly once more.

"Well, I gotta go now... Merry Christmas?"

"OK, merry Christmas!" And he heads out.

I decide that I should probably be heading home soon. So I turn to leave. But as I'm walking through the doors, an alarm goes off. Ugh... What did I do now?

I look down desperately at my belongings, and then I spot, under my armpit, the pair of jeans that I was meaning to try on. That stupid Kevin kid distracted me! I look at the store manager storming towards me. This is so not good...

I'm off the hook, but I think that it was a close call. I'm walking to the bus stop with, always there, Kevin Mullins, who offered to walk with me after seeing what had happened at the store. I keep my head low, hoping no one from school sees me with Kevin, the world's biggest dork.

I finally reach home, I recall that we are having a book club meeting at my house today.

I open the door to the house, and I see my friends smiling at me. I smile back. Well! The mall can be an adventure, but home is always the best place to be!
