Megan's POV

"Em, you know me and bugs don't mix!" I hear myself tell her.
"Don't yell at me!" She puts her hands up in mock surrender. "It was Stewart and my brother who set up the activity, not me!"
Emma just finished telling me about the plans Stewart made for them this week about geocaching. I didn't even know what that was before today! Apparently, youre supposed to have a GPS/compass to search for these "checkpoints" around the country, and then swap a little gift from the hidden boxes with your own stuff. I don't really know how to describe it so bear with me. I think that its adorable that he thought to plan something like this for Emma and us.

But Emma looks as if there was something else on her mind right now. "What's up, Em?"

She fiddles around with her fingernails, perplexed. "There's this girl who got waaaayyyy too dehydrated on the sidewalk while we were at the Chadwick's house. And she sort of fell but didn't fall unconscious. We helped her up, naturally, but then Darcy offered to bring her inside the house. I was alright about it, although I was totally prepared at that point to call the ambulances. But we didn't in the end, when we discovered she was just passed out after dehydration. She really should've brought along a bottle of water with her if you ask me." She mutters at that last sentence.

I take a second to process the story she just retold to me. I don't understand though. How could this situation be worrying Emma?
"Emma, this doesn't make any sense. Why would all of this be a problem?"
"Because," she says, now playing with my hair to keep her twitching hands busy. "Darcy's been worried about her all evening yesterday. I'm anxious that this could jeopardize the relationship between him and Jess."

Now its my turn to twiddle my fingers around nervously. Emma does hold a strong point right now. Darcy and Jess and never had a problem with their relationship, but this all could get washed clean in a matter of a second if things start to get the way they look like they're going.

Emma breaks the sudden silence again. "And guess what's the weirdest thing?"
"What?"
"She's coming with us geocaching."
My mouth takes shape of an o shape. "No!!" I say in disbelief.
"Its true. Stewart felt bad that she was in pain with her lack of liquids that he invited her to come with us."

I get up from where we were sitting on my bed and start pacing around the room. "So we'll be hanging around a girl in which we don't know for a week?"
Emma looks up at me nervously again, pushing her sleeves up and down. "Well..."
"What do you mean, well?"
She clears her throat. "I kind of know who this girl is. She goes to colonial. She's actually Adele's older sister."
"Great..." I mutter under my breath.

The doorbell rings. My mothers voice crackles from the intercom as she tells me that Jess is here. Emma and I look at each other and go down the stairs and through the halls to meet her. There's so much to be told to her at this point for us to be just waiting around for her to come to us.
We arrive at the front door entrance panting from the run there. Jess is still taking off her sweater. "Hey guys!"

I clear my throat to start telling her what Emma discovered yesterday, but Emma grabs my arm. Even though she doesn't tell me anything, I know what she's trying to say. She should be the one to tell her.
"What, what's the matter?" Jess changes her happy expression to one that matches ours.
"You know Marion, Adele's sister?"
"Yeah...?" She says cautiously.
"Yeah, well. She's coming with us on that geocaching trip I told you about this morning."
Jess looks confused, but doesn't question it. I'm confused however, on why Emma didn't tell her about Marion and Darcy. Then it hits me. Of course Emma wants to protect Jess. But at the same time, she wants to be as informative as possible.
She's a good friend for thinking ahead like that.
