EMMA's POV

"Come on, dude! Would you please come here?" I hear Cassidy yell to me from in the Delaney barn.
I grumble to myself as I go inside to see what she wants this time. But when I go inside, I see this cozy looking corner that Cassidy has embedded with flannel patterned wool blankets, and hay sticks out from the ends of the sheets.
"Awesome!" I tell her as I hurry over to join her. "Jess is still inside by the way, getting us some lemonade." We know that it's still waaayyyy too cold for lemonade, but we want to have something good to drink while we're out here.
"'Kay." She doesn't seem to be paying attention, just cuddling up in the blankets. We were fortunate enough to find some old blankets in the Delaney attic. They're just what we need.
I soon spot Jess coming to the barn in the distance holding a pitcher of a translucent yellow substance, and a stack of plastic cups.
But then I get a text message. From Stewart, as it appears. I thought we were going to meet up later, but I guess we could now. I mean, nothing's stopping us, it being March break and all...
I read the text. -can you come over now?
I send to him -yeah sure, I was going to leave from Jess's place soon anyways.
And then I get up and brush the excess strands of hay from my pants. Cassidy, who is still cuddling her blanket and closing her eyes shut, now asks, "where are you going?"
"To see Stewart, if that's all right with you."
"Yeah sure. I'll let Jess know when she gets here."
"Okay thanks!" And I'm off running.
I keep running until I reach my bike that is attached to the fence near the entrance of the Half Moon Farm. I look up to see that Jess has put the pitcher down in the grass and is now coming toward me in my direction.
Once she gets close enough, she says, "where are ya going?"
"Stewart wants me over at his place."
"Oh, wait so you're just gonna leave?" She sounds concerned. But not for me, for her...
"Ya I'm sorry. Well hang out soon, 'kay?"
She sighs heavily and nods firmly, "sure whatever..."

Then I ride off.

When I reach the Chadwick's house, I'm out of breath, but I'm smiling with delight at the workout I just did to get there. I prop my bike up against the railing, then ring the doorbell once and wait. It doesn't take long for Stewart to open the door. He looks happy to see me. "Hey Em! Guess what?"
"Okay, what?" I go along with it.
"So I figured this week should be something awesome, so I'm taking you and all of your book club buddies geocaching! Oh and Darcy's coming too." As if on cue, Darcy pops his head in from behind Stewart. It scares me out of my mind.
"Gosh, dude! Since when were you here?"
"Since this morning, as a matter of fact. Stewart here has been babbling all morning about his surprise geocaching adventure he planned for you."

Stewart nudges him. Darcy immediately adds, "And Jess."
Another nudge. Darcy adds again. "And everyone else from book club."

I smile. "So this is for all of us?"
Stewart smiles back. "Yup! You like the idea? It should be a nice writing prompt treat for you, don't you think?"
The smile on my face gets wider. "Fantastic!"

One more thing I wanted to say, I added the next chapter to my mdbc #7 novel fanfiction, which is my version of what could happen in the next book of the mdbc. It's called the Besties of Betsy, because it's based on the book the girls read Understood Betsy by Dorothy Canfield Fisher. Go check that out if you haven't already!
