Jess's POV

I wake up from my nap to remember that its Halloween. Then I remember how hard Darcy and I have worked to find the perfect costumes that will tell others that we're, you know, a ship.

And that's why I'm going to be dressing up as a sailor and Darcy, a captain of a boat. We took the whole ship costume thing to a literal view, since we actually are ship people now.

And get into my costume, I leave to go meet Darcy at his house.

As I walk to the Hawthorne's house, I am thinking about how happy I was when I heard that Darcy was coming from his college dorm at Dartmouth to visit us here in Concord, Massachusetts this Halloween. That's how we got to planning our costumes for tonight.

When I knock on the door outside the Hawthorne's house, the door swings open and I see Darcy in his captain uniform costume.

He looks amazing...

"You, too." He says to me. Then I realize that I was thinking out loud. I blush both with embarrassment and with happiness.

His sister, Emma comes out the door to join us. She's dressed as a pirate this year.

"Hey bestie!" She says, hugging me.

"Hey back!" Emma has been my best friend since forever, and I'm glad that she agreed to come trick or treating with us today. And when I mean us, I mean the book club friends and a few others like Darcy or Stewart Chadwick, Emma's boyfriend.

Its now 8:30pm and we are heading to my house to hang around a little more before Darcy has to go home since he has to head back to Dartmouth college. Emma already went home due to the fact that her stomach was hurting after eating a ton of candy. Cassidy has to go to the rink to practice with her students at Chicks with Sticks, which is the skating club she created back in 9th grade. Stewart and Becca Chadwick went to help their mother with a design project. Megan went along with them out of boredom. Therefore, this leaves Darcy and myself alone, which is awesome.

We go out to the back barn where we do a little dancing like we did last year at prom, and finally at the end of it all, Darcy leans down and gives me a kiss.

"Our ship has really set sail these past couple years...." He tells me, finally pulling away.

I nod, not wanting to ruin the moment by saying something g stupid.

We sit there for a few more minutes, we chat a little, and then Darcy says he has to leave. We kiss one more time and he leaves. I don't know when I'll see him again...
