Bookworm Emma
Emma's POV
My mother came into my bedroom that day and told me, "I had a great idea today at yoga." I was at my desk, trying to mess around with the wording of my newest poem. The second she mentioned the word 'yoga' I groaned. The mother-daughter book club mothers were never known to come up with the best ideas while in yoga class.
"Let's here it then." I told her exhaustedly, spinning my chair around slowly to face her.
"I got you a job!" she spread her arms out as if this was the best thing that has ever happened to her. I didn't know what to say.
"Um. What kind of job?" I hated admitting it to her, but a job might have been the first good idea she's had while in yoga class. I've been wanting a job for a while now, just to keep me busy right now since it's the start of another summer here in Concord. The one remaining factor in which would make me decide if I want a job is what type of job it would be.
"You're going to love this." My mother said. "I got you a job at the local bookstore two blocks away from here. It's near Cassidy's house. Should be great, no?"
"You got me a job at the bookstore?!" I wanted to jump up and down in excitement, but my pride was stopping me.
My mother nodded, "You start tomorrow, just to train though. You're going to be meeting your boss and getting used to your surroundings working behind the scenes and everything." She smiled. "Aww, my little baby is getting a job! You've grown up so quickly!" She ran up to me to hug me. I hugged her back, because of how grateful I was for everything she has done for me.

ONE WEEK LATER.
"Ma'am," a customer came up to me with a questioning look on his face and a book in his hands. I straightened myself and looked at him. He continued, "I was wondering which section this book comes from. I saw it lying around on the floor and was wondering where it would go, because I would like to return it back to its shelf."
"If you would like, I could reshelf it for you." I held out my hand in offering to the man.
He shook his head. "No thank you. I would personally like to do that myself. If you would just show me where it would go."
I didn't understand what was happening. "Sir, if you would like to work here, I could go get the manager out here to talk to you."
"Oh no, that won't be necessary." The man sighed. "I guess I'll just put the book here." He placed the book on top of a random shelf. And then he left, leaving me clueless and without words.
Once in a while at the bookstore, there comes a customer here and there who doesn't make any sense. This was an example of that. But nonetheless, I loved working here. Spending hours surrounded by books and book-loving people: that sounds like the perfect utopia that was being given to me.
A/N: im cringing at how bad that little chapter was, because first of all, it's super short, and secondly, it makes no sense. sorry.
my question (of the day?) to you is: have you ever had a weird bookstore/library experience? For example, for me, I once was at my local bookstore, and it was really crowded and busy at the time. There weren't enough employees working there to help the huge amount of people with questions. So, even though I didn't work there, I helped out a bunch of people find their own books, which was surprising to me, because I didn't even know that I knew where all these books were! I just knew, for some reason, where they were. That's my story. LOL. Let me know if you have an interesting one too.
Until next time, remember to vote, comment and keep on reading and writing. ;)
