Back to Paris!
Cassidy's POV
The second they walked into the airport of Paris, France right off their seven hour plane right, Cassidy felt like this was all her little 18-year-old mind had been waiting for her entire life—travelling for the sake of fulfilling simple pleasures of curiosity in life itself.
She was with her closest friends: Emma, Jess, Megan and Becca. They were all there, chattering excitedly beside each other as they made their way through the main tunnel that led to the Luggage Claim area of the airport. To Cassidy, it felt all too great to be back in a foreign place once more; there was a certain charm to exploring the unknown.
And the best part of it all—their parents weren't there to mess up this entire trip for them! Cassidy could have only imagined if her mother and Stanley had been there, nagging her and asking her if she needed anything. She loved them to death, but she wanted to at least enjoy herself! :)
"Anyone feel jet lag yet?" asked Becca, clearly the one in control of the group, grabbing a map from the information desk as they walked by.
"Not yet," Jess answered, enthralled. "I slept quite a bit on the plane, so I don't think I'll be having any trouble until later tonight when we have to sleep. Emma, you're practically falling over! Get up!"
Emma, clearly the one who was completely jet lag, jerked herself away as Jess spoke her name. "Wha-what?" she stammered as she tried to put her steps back into place.
Megan laughed. "Emma, you're going to have to take some form of a nap when we get to the hotel to drop off our bags. You're so tired! That's what you get for trying to keep me up the whole plane ride!"
"How come you're not tired?" Emma demanded.
"I don't get tired easily."
"Oh."
Cassidy piped in, reading a sign out loud that was above them. "Luggage claim is on the right."
"Good eye, Cassidy." Becca said. "If you see any of those Longchamp or Gucci stores, lemme know. I'm dying to go shopping for a new purse."
"Don't you already have a decent one?" Cassidy still didn't understand the purpose of owning more than one purse, especially if the one being used is still functional.
Becca replied, "Hush child. I've been wanting that new edition of the super adorable vermillion red tote from Coach!"
"Um, please speak English if you want me to understand you."
Megan squealed, tapping Becca excitedly on the shoulder and jumping up and down, "Oh my goodness that's the bag I was thinking of getting too!"
Becca smiled at first but then frowned, "We can't both get the same bag!"
Jess interjected, "Can we talk about this later? We need to find our luggage." She gestured at the moving conveyor belt in front of them, and the swarms of rushing people all eager to get out of that French airport with their own bags. The girls then dropped their frivolous conversations of Parisian shopping, and they collected their bags from the moving belt with utmost efficiency. When they finally collected the last couple pieces of luggage, Emma suggested groggily, still in a sleepy state of mind, "Can we get a cab to the hotel or something?"
Megan laughed. "And miss all the gorgeous scenic routes that France has to offer? I don't think so!"
So then, to Emma's discontent, they went off in search of what Megan seemed to refer to as "the RER", the train railway system that takes a nice scenic route straight into the heart of Paris's first quarter.
When they stepped off the train at its underground stop at their destination a block from the hotel, the five girls quickly went off in search of a fast passageway to their place of stay during their trip. Finally reaching the hotel, all of them found themselves to be more physically and emotionally drained than they would have expected from a forty-five minute train ride from the airport. Megan went to the front desk to check-in to their connecting rooms, while the rest of them all collapsed on the ever so soft, plush couches in the lobby.
"What a morning!" sighed Jess happily, closing her eyes and leaning back into the depths of the cushioned seat. Emma was already falling asleep on her right.
Cassidy found herself pulling out her phone absentmindedly and logging into the hotel's wifi. Immediately, she received a handful of text messages from Tristan.
Tristan: You landed yet???
Tristan: let me know
Tristan: have fun, luv <3
Tristan: I miss u :(
Tristan: who's gonna be my ice dancing partner NOW? Simon? No way.
Cassidy felt her mouth tug into a light smile. She too missed Tristan already, even though the last time they saw each other was the previous day when he had said goodbye to her at the airport back in Concord. She wondered how come the boys didn't feel like coming with them on this trip when they'd invited them to join in, back when flight booking was still on the schedule.
Megan soon appeared by their side, holding up a set of room keys. "Salut, mes amies," she said, showing off her French that she has been practicing over the past couple of years. "Shall we go check out the rooms?"
They slowly stood up and made their way to their abodes. They hopped into the small European elevator. Another man who looked about their age was already in the elevator when they walked in. He was broad-shouldered, wore some expensive-looking glasses, and his golden hair reflected the lighting of the elevator so elegantly that it almost blinded Cassidy when she first glanced at him. She caught sight of Becca, who was already drooling all over the man. The elevator doors closed shut and they started their ascent.
Golden Boy seemed to notice Becca's gaze because he shifted uncomfortably and then said, in a cool fresh voice, "Bon matin, chères madames."
As they got out of the elevator at their floor, Becca seemed to have lost all control of how to speak.
Cassidy elbowed her in the side. "Dude, there's a boy back home named Theo. Remember him? The snake lover? Yeah well he's your boyfriend, so I wouldn't go chasing after Parisian men while you're here."
Becca was shook back to her senses. "Right," she said, still looking back at the elevator as though the man was still going to be there.
Cassidy wasn't quite sure she wanted to believe her.
A/N: helllloooooo!!! I'm here! I like writing so much that I couldn't NOT write something new for this fanfiction, even though I have absolutely no idea what I'm writing about!
For now, this is going to be a mini-series for the girls and their travels to Paris.
Let me know if you enjoy!
