Hit Reverse!

A little fun AU inspired by fanart I saw :D

Enjoy!

----------

Phil sighs and flops down into the large bed, wings splayed over the sheets as he groaned into the pillow. It was almost midnight and they had barely managed to finish their last task for the day, which had been to gather three new types of plants and bring them home. Which is pretty shitty when you have a huge collection already and have to travel for ages to find something new. He can't imagine what Bad must be going through, considering that man has pretty much every crop and animal in existence on his little island fort. Dapper was making a whole Zoo in that place.

"Move over, you're taking up all the room." Missa pushed against his wing, no real heat or strength behind it, just tiredness and the desire to finally go to sleep. Phil barely has the strength to lift it up and let him crawl underneath before it flopped down again, making his partner groan at the sudden weight on his back. "I forgot how stressful these things can be... The one thing I definitely did not miss when I was gone."

The Elytrian huffed, curling more into the sheets, awkwardly shifting his wings around to try and get comfortable. "Try doing multiple dungeons in a day... that's stressful. This was just way too much traveling in a too short time span." Missa hummed in acknowledgment, already starting to fall asleep. "Can we sleep in tomorrow?" "We decide that after our 6am Quest check. We may need the time... like we did today." The human whined, already not looking forward to waking up in only six hours. Not after such a stressful day. He'd rather sleep for 10 or more. Or just a lazy day in general.

Phil finally found a comfortable position and layered his wings over them both, lazily half pulling a blanket over them as well, adding a nice warm layer on top of his feathers. "Night Missa..." "Mmm night..." They were almost asleep, almost dragged away into the land of rest and dreams, tugged away in warmth and safety, when an annoyingly cheerful and familiar music began to play. Both of them groaned, with Phil's more being a hiss than anything else.

The small screen with an animated duck appeared, destroying the hope of a peaceful next day. Whenever the duck showed up, nothing good followed. Apart from the dragonlings showing up. That was nice, even though the circumstances were heartbreaking. "What do they want now..."

"Good evening everyone!"

"A lot has happened the past few weeks, has it not?"

"New people arrived on the island, twice! Exciting isn't it!"

"I hope all of you have settled in comfortably into your new forever home."

"Most of you have done a great job in caring for your dragonlings, with a few exceptions of course. May they rest peacefully."

"The successful parents have worked hard every day to keep their kids healthy and safe over the past month..."

"...so it's time to reward you guys for a month of hard work; don't you think?"

Phil and Missa looked at each other while the duck gave a dramatic pause. There had been talk about a reward when the mother dragon returns, not just randomly in the middle. The human carefully took his partner's hand and squeezed it, nervously glancing towards the hallway and Chayanne's bedroom door. "Why does that sound like a threat..." Phil snarled, squeezing his hand harder. "I'll fight them all to hell and back if their idea of a reward and break means taking the kids away." The feral look in his eyes was oddly comforting for Missa.

"Now it's time to see how good your parenting was!"

"Your kids have received your care and have their own opinion of how good a parent you are."

"Now, they will be able to act on it."

"Or more precisely, let's see if you treated them well enough so your children would do the same for you!"

"Enjoy your time on the island!"

And with that final message, without warning, everything went black.

--------

Chayanne woke up too early for his liking when sunshine poured in through the blinds at his window. Outside he could hear the loud caws of his dad's crows, who were probably playing around until his father wakes up and brings them their morning snacks. He groaned and turned in his bed, trying to escape the pesky light and the sounds that woke him before his parents did. They had been up way too long to get up early again.

Or, he tried to turn around at least, but instead he fell out of his bed entirely. He landed on the hard ground with a yelp and immediately clicked his jaw shut right after. What... what was that? What happened to his voice?

"Hello?" That was definitely not his normal voice. It was so... deep? His hand shot up to his throat, only to stop halfway up as he stared at it. Claws, like he always had, but much bigger than he's used too. Sharper looking too... They look almost exactly like his dad's talons.

He followed his arm down to his torso and to the rest of his body. Everything looked bigger. Longer. Instead of the slim, short figure of a child, he was greeted by muscled arms and a broad chest and huge leather wings splayed out beside him, covered in black and purple scales. Just as big as his dad's wings, maybe even bigger. Slowly he reached up to touch his head, feeling large, curved horns instead of little stubs.

Holy shit...

He grew up over night...

Chayanne jumped to his feet, almost hitting his head on the low ceiling, the tips of his horns barely missing it. He towered over the small bed and the furniture in the room, everything that had specifically been made for a kid. His little wooden sword sat beside his bed and when he picked it up, it was nothing more than a long dagger in his hand.

He had to show his parents. Now.

"Dad! Papa!" His voice boomed down the hallway as he pushed his door open and hurried over to his parent's bedroom. They will freak when they see this. Will they even recognize it's him? Probably, after a second or third glance. He still has the same clothes and same colored scales. His hair is still dyed pink too if he can trust the little curls falling in front of his eyes.

But when he pushed the door to his parent's bedroom open, their bed seemed to be empty. No mass of black feathers covering two curled up bodies, no snores or little whistles as they slept. Just a mess of sheets and pillows, not nearly big enough to hide his parents beneath. Where did they go? If they have to leave before he gets up they always leave a note and breakfast for him. But there hadn't been a note in his room and the kitchen he passed by was empty. His dad's hat was still on the bedside table too, and he never goes anywhere without it.

A mixture of fear and rage began to fill his body, all the possibilities of what could have happened to his parents playing out in his head. Kidnapped and hurt, lost somewhere, went outside and got attacked by monsters, taken hostage by the weird deities of the island for whatever reason...

He spotted his father's diamond sword beside the door and grabbed it, only for a second marveling at how the blade now easily suited his height before getting ready to go out and look for them, already making his way to the front door. That was, until he heard a noise from the bedroom. He froze, ears perking. Silence, only an occasional caw or chirp from outside.

Then there it was again. A little whimper, from his parent's bedroom.

Chayanne turned and walked back, entering the room again. The bed was still empty and there was nothing hidden in the closet. What was that sound then? Where did- there it was again. He turned to the pile of blankets on the bed. Carefully he reached out and tugged the first blanket away. His heart nearly stopped when he saw what was hiding underneath.

Curled up together were two children. One human, with black hair and light skin, roughly his age before he magically grew up. The other was much smaller, blonde hair with tiny black wings and covered in fluffy down feathers and arms that end in little claws. A tail lightly curled over his leg, also covered in fluffy little feathers. His feet also ended in claws. The older human kid was curled around the little bird almost protectively as he stared up at Chayanne, eyes big with a mix of fear and curiosity.

Realization slowly dawned him as he stared at the kids, his mind slowly putting the pieces together. He had magically grown up over night... and his parents have turned into children, Missa into a kid and Phil into almost just a baby, judging by how much smaller he is. They've swapped places. And he would bet everything he has that this was supposed to be a new challenge from the island.

The little Missa slowly scooted away from Chayanne's towering figure, the baby in his arms whimpering again, a tiny chirp following it. They were scared of him... they don't recognize him.

"Hey... it's okay. I'm not gonna hurt you." Chayanne slowly sat down at the edge of the bed, holding up his hands. Missa clutched little Phil tighter, who whined in his grip, wriggling as he tried to get away from the painful grip. Chayanne's heart almost broke at the sound. "It's okay... I am your... dad?" He stopped for a second, unsure if he really believed that answer himself. He had been a kid not even 6 hours ago, out on adventures with his parents. Now he is forced to be the parent. He doesn't even know how to do that!

But one look at the small, scared children and knowing just how dangerous this island is... He can't just abandon them and NOT be their caretaker.

His parents had taken him in when he was abandoned by the mother dragon and put on display in the adoption center. Had taken him to their home, fed and clothed him, showed him nothing but love and care. Protected him with their life, multiple times, fighting everything and everyone that dared to try and hurt him. Battles against nightmare monsters and binary gods and even other people wanting him or Tallulah dead...

Now he has to do the same for them. He will do the same for them. He won't let his parents get hurt, no matter if he is a kid or an adult.

"Yes... I am your dad, your papa. You don't have to be scared of me."

Missa perked up at that, his grip easing, much to little Phil's delight. He looked confused, unsure. Of course he would be, a man he doesn't recognize claims to be his father. "Our Papa?" He smiled and nodded, now holding his arms out towards the kids. "Yes. Your Papa. Now, why don't you give me your brother and we can go and get you some breakfast? You guys must be starving." Missa looked down at the baby in his arms, then back at Chayanne. He was hesitating for a bit, as if considering whether to trust him or not.

Hunger seemed to win in the end, because he nodded and let go, allowing Chayanne to pick Phil up.

Unlike Missa, he gave Chayanne a curious coo and a big smile, flashing small sharp teeth and making little grabby hand motions towards him. He recalls the very few times his father had talked about young Elytrian behavior when telling him stories about raising Wilbur. The entire species is driven by tight social groups and families. And especially young Elytrians have to constantly be around either a bunch of other children or around adults to feel comfortable. They are never alone while they grow up, their flock always there to keep them company. That's why they need to be protected. All the love and attention they receive as fledglings makes them very easily trust adults that approach them, even if they do only imprint on their parent. It's why Phil is always so insisting on keeping Chayanne and Tallulah close to him wherever they go. Part of his instincts.

"Hey little guy... Come here." He carefully cradled him close to his chest, relieved that he seemed to at least be old enough to hold the weight of his head. And he can smile at him... He had no idea how old that actually makes him, but it was a start. He knows you have to support a babies head until they have the strength to do it themselves, but they learn that pretty fast so its not a good indicator for Phil's age probably.

Phil gave a happy chirp, cuddling against Chayanne's chest, his little wings and tail curling around himself. He was already accepting Chayanne as his parent... gods above he is so adorable. The dragon carefully held out a finger for Phil to grab, who immediately squealed and began gnawing on it. Thank prime he can't feel anything through his scales.

"What's for breakfast?" Missa waited by the door for him, watching him carefully as he interacted with Phil. Seeing him be gentle with the baby seemed to ease his mind a little bit, judging how he looked more at ease now. "Uh... haven't decided yet. I need to check our stash first to see what we have." He made sure Phil was secure in his arms before he followed Missa out the door and towards the kitchen.

Somehow cooking like this makes him nervous now, despite him actually having quite a bit of experience. He's been cooking most meals over the last week, with his parents being too exhausted to make anything apart from toast or sandwiches. Usually that wouldn't be a problem, he likes avocado toast, but he does prefer a warm meal sometimes. Plus, him cooking also helps his parents relax and give them some time to just rest. They do always stay close by when Chayanne announces that he is making food, just in case.

Balancing Phil in one arm, he opened their chests one by one, checking what ingredients he can work with. He could just be very basic and make pancakes, like the ones Papa always made from him and Tallulah. Especially the ones with chocolate pieces in them are really good. Or grilled cheese sandwiches, to have something new for once. He knows his dad loves them and regularly makes fun of some big chef that can't make them properly, but he probably can't eat them right now, being a baby and all.

Thinking about it... what do baby Elytrians eat anyways? Phil is very small, but already has teeth, sharp ones at that. Usually that means they eat meat, right? Him immediately chewing on his finger is probably also a sign for that. He could just fry little pieces of beef or chicken then. No seasoning or anything that could upset his stomach, but he sure as hell will also not risk giving him raw meat. Not if his father can't tell him if he would get sick from that or not.

"What about some grilled cheese Missa? Or do you rather want pancakes? We have the stuff for both. Or something else, if you have an idea for food." The little boy hummed, swinging his legs in his spot at the table, still keeping an eye on how Chayanne was handling Phil. Looks like Chayanne got the traits of a protective big brother from his Papa. "Cheese please." "Alright. Can you watch your brother while I cook? I don't want him to accidentally touch anything hot." Missa nodded and held his arms out for Phil, who gently got placed in them. He was more sitting in his lap than being cradled, but he doesn't seem to mind, happily squealing and clinging to his brother.

Chayanne smiled, happy to see them together like this after his Papa had been gone for so long, even as kids. Just see them laugh and be together was enough.

The kitchen was filled with the sound of a sizzling pan and happy squeals, chirrs and trills as the children play together. The most perfect sound, in Chayanne's opinion, no matter if its one kid and his parents or now him and two little kids. The sounds of a happy home, despite all the horrors they have been through while living on the island.

Soon enough a bowl with cooled down chunks of beef was placed on the table right beside a plate of grilled cheese sandwiches. Phil curiously reached for the bowl, cheeping when Chayanne helped him take out the first piece. The first bite was a bit more hesitant, big blue eyes staring up at his caretaker for a moment before he ate. And as soon as the first bite was taken, there was no stopping him. He trilled and chirped happily as he pretty much devoured his food, giving Chayanne a heart attack about that he could choke on something.

But he ate his food without any problems, so in the end it made Chayanne laugh to see him so excited while Missa happily ate his sandwich a lot slower. At least his guess about meat had been right, that's a plus.

Suddenly there was loud banging at the front door, startling both children into silence. It wasn't as loud as it had been when Quackity came to demand Tallulah, but it was still urgent enough to make him worry. Chayanne growled, grabbing his dad's sword again and making his way over, telling the kids to stay at the table. If this is Quackity again, at least he can give him a piece of his mind now while actually being taken serious. Let's see Quackity try and threaten him now when Chayanne towers over him. Not that kid Chayanne wouldn't have stabbed him just the same.

But instead of an angry duck, there was a woman in front of the door. A woman with curly brown hair and a dark red beanie, gently curved orange horns on her head and similar colored wings on her back. And hiding behind her back, carefully peaking out, a boy, similar in age to Missa and a mirror image of the woman he's hiding behind, except for black feathered wings instead of orange dragon wings. They stared at each other for a moment, letting the situation sink in.

"Tallulah?"

"Hey Chay... Looks like it got you too."

He only nodded, stepping aside to let them both in.

This just keeps getting weirder...

--------

"So... what do we do now?" The kids were still sat at the table and ate their breakfast, Missa and Wilbur making conversation while Phil happily babbled and chirped to himself. They were nice enough to pretend that Phil was actually taking part in the conversation to entertain him. Wilbur took an immediate liking to him, despite not knowing who the blonde baby really is. He answered Phil's calls with his own chirps, bigger black feathers curling carefully around much smaller ones.

Chayanne writes the immediate affection off as Elytrian instincts, seeing a fellow fledgling and immediately wanting to protect, care and play with it. Flock instincts.

Meanwhile Chayanne and Tallulah sat off to the side, quietly discussing what to do now. "Well, we take care of them, what else is there to do? Or do you know how to turn them back already?" Chayanne sighs and leans back in his chair, now grateful the main furniture was altered to be wing friendly. No, he had no idea how to turn his parents back to normal. He had no idea how this was even possible in the first place.

"So we just pretend this is normal and live with it. Great." "We can help each other do this. It's gonna be alright." He gave her a grateful smile before looking over at the kids. "I'm already so worried something will happen to them and we haven't even left the house... is this really what our parents feel every day? No wonder they are always so stressed."

Tallulah reached over and took his hand, squeezing it. "We'll keep them safe. Just like how they kept us safe with everything they had." "But they have experience with fighting and protecting. We only have those moments where we had to defend ourselves. We're children Lullah, no matter what we look like now. Magically growing up doesn't give us the same life experiences as them or the same skill."

His sister smiled, squeezing his hand more. "And yet you are one of the greatest fighters I know. You and abuelito saved me so many times from that binary monster. And other kids too! And you are a good farmer and cook that can provide them with the food they need. And a good playmate that knows the best games to pass time and have fun with. And a good father that loves them and will protect them at all costs."

He sighs, leaning into the wing reaching out to wrap around him. "You're the best sister in the world, you know that?" "And you the best brother."

A little beeping noise distracted them from their conversation. It was a chat message from the island, or whoever managed these things.

QSMP: The tasks for the day have been updated

"Tasks? We have to do tasks with them?" "I guess it makes sense. We switched places, so now we have the same responsibilities they had when taking care of us." Chayanne fiddled with the weird metal bracelet he had seen his fathers use, some weird communicator type thing that showed them their new quests for the day. He can't believe they actually make them do tasks now, they had just gotten new bodies and are still adjusting after all. "Aha! There we go."

Daily Tasks:

Feed the baby a breakfast food

Make or find a new toy for the baby

Acquire an item that best describes your baby

Have your baby have a playdate with other babies

Tell the baby an adventure bedtime story

"Oh they gotta be kidding with this..." Tallulah finally managed to open her Questlog too and looked at the task. "That doesn't seem too difficult. Food, toys and meeting up with the others." "It's not the task I'm worried about. It's going outside and running into one of those entities." Tallulah gently patted his arm. "Safety in numbers, the more of us are together, the more people are there to protect the kids."

Chayanne hummed, noticing that he had two rows of boxes to check off. One for every kid, he assumes. Missa's breakfast task was done, Phil's wasn't. He figured simple meat wasn't a breakfast food. So maybe... "Missa, can you give your brother a bite of your food please?" The boy looked at his half eaten sandwich, then at baby Phil, who was chirring at Wilbur while playing with his hand, his own bowl with food long empty. At least he wasn't biting anyone this time.

Missa leaned over and poked the corner of the sandwich against Phil's mouth, trying to make little bird noises too, but his whistles were more air than sound. Still, Phil cooed and looked at Missa, confused at the weird sounds he was making. He took a bite anyways once he realized the weird thing was supposed to be food. His brother would never betray him after all, so it must be safe.

He spit it back out almost immediately with a hiss and ruffled downy feathers. Missa tried not to laugh at the offended look shot his way, definitely not taking the fluffy baby bird serious at all. The betrayal!

But it seemed to count regardless of if he ate it or not, the box turning green instantly, signaling that the task was done.

"Alright. One down, four to go. I'm assuming just those three doesn't count as a playdate, since it's not green yet." "Or because they haven't played yet? Just eaten breakfast?" "Maybe..." Their communicators were starting to make a bunch of noises now, other people probably just figuring out how to use them. Only Tallulah really ever had her own one because of Wilbur's tour.

He followed the chat half-heartedly while keeping an eye on the kids, who have switched to the living room to play now. That was, until Leonarda asked if anyone wanted to meet up for the playdate.

Tallulah responded before Chayanne could, offering to have the kids meet at her place with the big garden where they could all play together. She got immediate confirmations from Leo, Ramon and after some time Richarlyson as well. "Looks like our playdate problem is solved now. Having literally everyone there should count." Chayanne nodded, shutting off his communicator and checking the tasks again.

Yep, playdate was not completed. Only the three kids together did not count.

"Now... what about that weird 'get an item that describes your baby' one? You think we can just get like... a feather or something for Phil? Do they mean that? I would do that because he is a bird at heart." Tullulah hummed, watching the kids now too. "Maybe it's like... an item that describes what you think about that person? Or that helps describe their personality? I would choose a music disc for my dad, for Wilbur, because he's an amazing musician that is so passionate about what he does and it makes me really proud that he's my dad. Music is something that connects us, that we both like, and it can best describe him and the relationship we have. He sings to me to make me happy, creates completely new songs on the spot just to see me smile. Music, for us both, means love."

Chayanne thought about it, then, without hesitation, walks over to the jukebox in the corner, takes one of the discs they stored in a box right next to it, and gave it to Tallulah. Her task immediately went green. "See? Not that difficult if you really think about it." "Huh... alright." He racked through his brain for anything that could be transferred into an item, anything that could help choose something.

"Well... Papa hasn't been around that much, but he has always been very caring. He may not be the best in fighting and defending himself or us, but he tries his best regardless. He makes sure I am taken care of and comforts both me and dad when we are not feeling well." Chayanne looked around and spotted the bone mask Missa had gifted him before he left for the trip. He picked it up and turned it over in his hands. "Maybe this. It was his first real gift to me, so that we could match and both look cool together. And it was a promise. That he would come back and that he loves me. That I am his son, no matter if by blood or not. It shows that he cares..."

The bracelet made a little peep and when he checked it, Missa's item box was checked off. Chayanne smiled and sat back down on the couch, mask still in his hand. It was too small for him now, but maybe Missa can have this one until they switch back. "That was really nice Chay... now Abuelito." He hummed, watching the tiny fledgling crawl after Wilbur with fluttering wings and swishing tail, squealing as they played baby friendly tag.

"Well... Dad has always been strong. And kind. He protected me, tried to give me everything I ever wanted, no matter how small. He threw himself into mob infested caves to bring me an axolotl, stayed up all night to gather items and craft me new things, terraformed the whole wall into one massive garden so I could have a big potato farm. His wings always fascinate me, how they are so sensitive but so powerful. He uses them as our blanket or our shield or our way to safety and freedom. I loved it when he took me flying, showed me how he can see the world. Dad is just... amazing. In everything he does for me and for Papa."

But... what item could that be turned into?

"Well... your idea of a feather wouldn't be so bad. Or a sword for his strength? It just has to be something you can explain properly and that you genuinely mean." Chayanne only half listened, letting his eyes wander around the room. He could just use his dad's sword, wanting to represent his strength and protectiveness. But just as he got up and went to grab it, something else caught his eyes.

His dad's crystal pendant laid on the little table by the coats and boots. He carefully picked it up, watching the light reflect off it's surface. He knows the meaning behind the dark red heart, he had asked him about it; and yet his father always carries it proudly.

"Dad is strong... and protective... he throws himself in front of danger almost every day. He defends not just me, but every dragonling that is currently around him. He fights deities and demons without hesitation, openly challenges the island itself, doesn't back down..." He turns to Tallulah, who was watching him curiously. "And he does it all with one life. Has done it for countless years. He only gets one shot, and yet he chooses to use that one life to protect others, not just people he loves, but everyone that is in danger. That's who my dad is."

The crystal in his hand felt warm, vibrating with a magic gift Philza has received long, long ago.

"He's the Angel of Death, a deity of life, and he proudly shows it."

He didn't need to check the quest, the little ping made it obvious that he passed. Both items have successfully been picked. Tallulah smiled and patted his shoulder. "Good job... I couldn't have said it better." Chayanne smiled back, leaning down ever so slightly to let her reach his shoulder easier. "We should take the kids down to your place now." "Oh shit, you're right!" He laughed as she immediately began to usher the kids into putting on their shoes.

"And you're coming with me." He leaned down and picked up a chirping little Elytrian, who grinned up at him immediately, reaching out his hands for him. "Time for a little family trip." Missa and Wilbur were out the door almost immediately with Tallulah, while Chayanne took his time tying his father's sword to his belt, put on some armor and pick up the larger skull mask that sat on the shelve next to Techno's old crown. He hesitated a bit when looking at the crown. His dad had promised to gift it to him once he is big enough to wear it properly.

It wasn't as heavy as he expected, sitting comfortably on his head. He turned to look at himself in the mirror, almost immediately being taken back by how similar he looks to the pictures he has seen of his uncle. His hair wasn't nearly as long and a few shades lighter than Techno's, blonde roots starting to come through now. Plus he has dragon features instead of Piglin ones, but the rest was eerily similar.

Phil in his arms chirped curiously at the mirror, reaching out to try and touch it, squealing when his reflection did the same. Chayanne laughed and held him a little closer to it, smiling more when Phil excitedly flapped his wings and put his hands against the smooth surface, cheeping at the other Elytrian in the reflection. "As adorable as this is, the other's are waiting for us outside. You can keep playing with Wilbur and have more mirror time tonight, okay?"

Phil chirred and yelled when Chayanne left the room and the mirror behind, wanting to go back and play with the other fledgling. It almost made the dragon feel bad for showing him the mirror in the first place. But as soon as they were outside the mirror was forgotten. Instead, Phil was fascinated by the dozens of black birds hopping around, who in turn were curious about him too.

"There you are. I was getting worried." Tallulah stood in the shade of a tree, watching the two boys try and play with the axolotl in the pond. "Phil got fascinated by a mirror." "Ah, that explains it." She smiled when seeing a crow perch on Chayanne's arm to try and get a closer look at Phil, who in return cooed and reached out for the bird. "Should we head down now?" "Yeah, let's go."

The Waystone glowed as they teleported down to Tallulah's place, purple particles swirling around them until they stood in the small cabin housing her Waypoint. There were already voices coming from outside, including loud cheers and laughter of children. Looks like everyone already arrived, as expected. They did take their time when figuring out the items.

"There you guys are!" The first person noticed them and waved, dark red scales, horns and baseball cap immediately identifying the dragon as Leonarda. A boy sat beside her in the grass, using a bunch of little wood and stone blocks to build. Golden skin and gray scales. Foolish. "Hey Leo!" Tallulah allowed Missa and Wilbur to run off and join the other kids, while she and Chayanne joined Leo in the grass. "Sorry, we got held up." "Oh, it's fine! I can see why." Purple eyes landed on the small bundle of joy squealing in Chayanne's arms.

"Is that really tio Phil?" "Yup. I don't know why he is so much younger than the other kids." "Maybe because he was the oldest? I don't know, but he looks adorable." Chayanne hummed, letting the little Elytrian bite his claw again. Other new adults noticed the new arrivals and decided to all gather around there. Dapper was there, large black wings and curved horns looking similar to his father's features. Ramon has thrown on some of Fit's clothes, his light brown scales covering more of his skin than before, but he seemed happy enough when watching Fit chase after Bad with a wooden sword. And finally Richarlyson, who looked absolutely exhausted, dark green wings laying flat on the ground, his head leaned on his hand.

"Are you okay?" Tallulah leaned over to wrap her wing around his shoulder. It only made poor Richarlyson look even more exhausted as he leaned against her and closed his eyes. "You try and take care of five hyperactive kids and tell me how you feel." As if on queue, one of the kids ran over and threw himself at him, hugging his shoulder while laughing loudly. Tallulah had to pull away her wing in fear of getting accidentally hurt.

"Come play Papa!" The boy had bright blonde hair and was running around shirtless, for some reason not sunburned in the slightest. It was pretty obvious who that child was, even his loud chaotic nature was still the same. "Later Forever. Papa is having a break right now. Go play with your brothers." The blonde frowned, tugging at his father's shirt, giving him the biggest puppy eyes Tallulah has ever seen.

"Pleeeaaassseee?" "Forever, querido, please. I've been running around with you all morning. I need to rest for a little bit. Why don't you go make friends with the new kids?" The blonde pouted, but gave up on getting his dad to play. Instead, he spotted Chayanne and Phil and was immediately distracted. "Babyyyyy!" He fought his way into the circle of adults and fell to his knees in front of Chayanne, reaching out a hand for Phil. "Oh you are so cute! So tiny! And fluffy! What's his name? Is it a he?"

Little Phil cooed and watched the loud newcomer, stopping the chewing on Chayanne's finger to instead reach out and hold Forever's finger, who squealed in delight at the action. "He likes me!" "Phil likes pretty much everyone. Baby Elytrians are very social. I would mind your fingers though, he's teething and likes to bite things. And yes, he is a boy." Forever nodded, but didn't take away his hand, wiggling his fingers to make Phil laugh. Oh well, Chayanne warned him.

"Anyways... how are you all handling the tasks so far?" Leonarda leaned back on her hands, looking into the group of adult dragon hybrids. They were by far the most relaxed looking, with Foolish happily building beside them and Vegetta running around with Roier and Jaiden, playing make belief that little winged Jaiden was an evil bird trying to steal their shinies.

"Me and Chayanne both have the breakfast and the item personality done. Playdate right now, so we are only missing the toy and the bedtime story. They are not as difficult as they could be, to be honest. Just imagine if we got some dungeon task." There were murmurs of agreement, with Ramon and Chayanne sharing worried looks. They don't exactly have the best experiences with dungeons.

"I got the items for Foolish and Vegetta too. They didn't want food though because the task refreshed right after we ate. Gonna have breakfast themed dinner later. Toys are pretty easy to get for builders, since they'll take pretty much everything that can somehow be used for their little project. I swear, it took them ten minutes to realize and start trying to make a huge pillow fort out of everything they could grab."

"I have everything for Bad aside from the bedtime story. Still trying to figure out what to tell him for that one, but I'll figure something out. Maybe retell one of our adventures, I don't want to tell something too extreme..."

"I am missing the bedtime story and the describe item for Fit. I thought about using tnt because of his past and because it's funny, but I kinda felt bad to reduce him to that. He's been a great single dad that works so hard every day, I don't want to be mean and make his describe item something bad." Chayanne nodded, patting his shoulder. "You'll find something good, I'm sure. Just watch him throughout the day and maybe you'll spot something."

Richarlyson sighs and rubs his eyes. "I only have the breakfast done for my boys. I couldn't think of anything for toys or these weird personality items. I was too busy keeping them all together... CELLBIT PUT THAT DOWN-!" And then he was off, chasing after his kid, who had stolen a cactus from the little beach in front of Tallulah's house.

So they were all roughly on the same level for quest completion then. That's good to know. Richarlyson chased his son for ten minutes before he finally caught him and took the cactus away. Cellbit pouted and sulked in a corner, not interested to play tag with the other kids anymore. He wanted that cactus.

Richarlyson placed the cactus back down and flopped back into his spot. "How did you find out what item to pick to describe them? I am really confused about that whole concept. And I have to find five of those." They all looked at each other, waiting for whoever wants to start. "Well... I chose a music disc for Wilbur. I think it's obvious why." "Okay so Tallulah doesn't count. She got the easy pick, just like Leo with two builders. Anyone else?" There was laughter going through the group and Chayanne decided to wait it out before he spoke up.

"For Missa I used the little skull mask he gifted me. As a show of how much he cares and a promise that he will always come back. That I am his. It describes him as caring and loyal. I thought that was pretty fitting. And Phil... I used that crystal he always wears. It's a special symbol that shows he has one life, not three like most of the parents or two like us. He protects me and everyone he cares about, throws himself in the way like a protective shield, despite only having one life. That's the best way to describe him I think."

There was silence as they stared at him, only the children playing unbothered. Even Forever, who sits right in front of him and continues to play with Phil, didn't seem like he listened at all and was unbothered by the odd talks of the adults. "What?" "That was deeper than I thought." Chayanne huffed out a laugh. "As if you wouldn't praise your dads for what they did for you. As far as I'm aware all of us have at least decent parents." There was another round of agreement. "So if I am convinced Forever is a little chaos gremlin... can I just choose tnt?" "Probably." "Amazing."

The playdate continued for hours, in which the kids alternated between running around, eating snacks and swimming. Chayanne had to coax Forever away from Phil at some point, because the little bird was getting tired and grumpy and he didn't want Forever to get hurt if Phil does decide to bite again. Forever did not like that at all, but eventually got dragged away by Cellbit and Felps to play.

Phil took his nap right in Chayanne's arms, curled up against his chest with fluffed feathers. It took everything in him not to coo at the sight and wake him up. Tallulah had less restraint, pulling out her camera to take pictures. Not just of Phil, but of the entire playdate. Memories for their parents once they turn back. Pictures of what their grown up kids look like and in return what they as children look like.

While the kids played the adults worked together to figure out some tasks, help find describe items and create toys, trying to check off all tasks except the bedtime story. Phil loved the toy Dapper made for him, which was pretty much a chew toy if Chayanne was being honest. Something for his teething that wasn't Chayanne's hand. The little bird was still holding the toy while he slept, cuddling it like a stuffed animal.

The peace was broken when Wilbur ran towards Tallulah, yelling in fear. "MAMA!" Tallulah grabbed him and pulled him close, wings wrapped around him as other parents yelled for their equally nervous children, who were backing away from the edge of the forest just outside of Tallulah's fence. "What's wrong mi melodia?" "There is a creepy guy in the forest!" Chayanne growled, handing Phil to Missa, who stayed pressed close to Tallulah as well.

He walks towards the forest, drawing his sword. "Who's there?! Come out or I'll come in and take you by force!" There was rustling in the bushes, a terrified gasp and the sound of running. Chayanne chased after the sound, not even running for a few seconds before he grabbed the intruder by the back of their shirt, dragging them back. "Don't hurt me! I'm sorry Technoblade, it won't happen again!" Chayanne frowned, now properly looking at the person he caught. "Quackity?"

The avian cowered in front of him once he dropped him, back pressed against the fence. He had never seen the man so terrified. Ever. Not even when his dad threatens him. "I'm sorry! Please! I promise I'll just go and-" He stopped, staring up at Chayanne. For a few seconds there was nothing. Then understanding and a hint of embarrassment. "You're not Techno." No shit, he's not even a Piglin. "Nice to know he still scares you though."

Quackity frowned, getting up from his spot on the ground. "Chayanne?" "Took you long enough." At this point he put his sword away, instead crossing his arms in front of his chest. He may not be Techno, but he can sure as hell intimidate Quackity just the same if he really tried. "Care to explain why you were hiding in the bushes watching our kids?" "You... Your kids? What... how..."

Chayanne sighs and the avian flinched, taking a step back. Whatever past he has with Techno must be fucking terrifying if he reacts like this. He'll ask his dad about this once they are back to normal. The dragon grabbed him by the arm and dragged him over to where the other parents were waiting, the kids safely tugged into the circle of adults. "It's fine, you guys can come out. It's just Quackity." Tallulah did not look happy about that, but the others let their kids go again, though they were more busy watching Quackity than to go back to playing.

"All the dragonlings..." "We know. We're not blind. Plus there was a big announcement, how did you not realize something was up? We even used the chat to talk to each other." Quackity shrugged, staying still in his new spot. His eyes almost never left Chayanne while he sat down and took back Phil, who was happily cheeping and reaching for him. Looks like the sudden outburst of sound didn't scare him too much.

"Is that Philza?" "Who else do you know with black wings?" He looked over at Wilbur, who still sat by Tallulah's side, feathers bristled. "That's his literal son Quackity. He's not even blonde." "You specified wings." Quackity's jaw snapped shut when Chayanne growled. Oh this new power over the avian felt so good. "Soooo this just happened. Great. What do you guys do now?" "Do the daily tasks, hope they turn back to normal tomorrow." "Ah... good plan."

There was an awkward pause.

"Well, I'm out. You guys have fun." Dapper got up and grabbed his backpack, noticeably not looking at Quackity. "Bad! Time to go home, it's getting late!" The little demon whined, but waved goodbye to his new friends and followed his father. Ramon decided that this was his queue to do the same, picking up Fit on his way out of the garden. "Good job Quackity. You ruined the mood." "What did I do?!" "You could have just come in like a normal person, not sneak in the bushes and watch children."

He tried to protest, but realized how rightfully creepy the situation sounded.

"Let's go home Missa. Tallulah, are you staying here?" "Yeah, I'll just bring Wilbur inside. See you tomorrow Chay." He waved goodbye to Richarlyson and Leonarda as he left towards the Waypoint, Missa right by his side. "That guy was weird." "I know. That's why we are leaving."

The teleport home left them a little dizzy, but nothing they couldn't handle. Chayanne brought his kids inside, placing Phil in Missa's arms again while he made them a little dinner. Meat for Phil again, stuffed potato for himself and Missa. Missa told him about the adventure he went on with Vegetta, Roier, Jaiden and Cellbit, who roleplayed the discovery of an ancient civilization. Chayanne smiled and nodded along, remembering how easy it was for him and the other dragonlings to imagine the same adventure.

And after that, time for bed.

They snuggle together in his parents bed, curled up under blankets and his wing. Phil was pressed against his chest, already half asleep as he whistled and cheeped. Missa was half curled around Phil, looking up at Chayanne, waiting. Right... a bedtime story. He hummed and went through all the stories he knows. It only seemed fair if he continues the traditional theme of the stories his dad used to tell him.

"Alright. Get comfy while I tell you a story about the great Technoblade, and how he and his best friend created a great empire together..."

-------

Philza groaned as he woke up, blinding light hitting his face. He tried to turn away from it, but a heavy weight against his back stopped him. Something that was also squishing his wings very uncomfortably. "Missa move, my wings..." He shoved against the weight, who groaned and rolled away from him. "5 more minutes." Phil huffed and repositioned his wings more comfortably, sighing when the painful ache dulled.

In his arms, his little sunshine was still curled up, sleeping happily. He must have snuck into their bed again, little rascal. Phil smiled and stroked through soft pink hair, blonde roots coming through. He'll ask if Chayanne wants to dye it again later. If the new tasks don't come in the way of that... or whatever weird surprise the duck thing has planned for the parents.

He yawned and nuzzled back into the pillow. Five more minutes doesn't sound too bad. His eyes fell to the bedside table, where a little family portrait sat in it's usual place. Taken the day they adopted Chayanne, all of them smiling for the camera. But next to it sat a new picture.

It showed a man with pink hair and long curved horns, a crown and skull mask adorning his head and face. Behind him great leather wings folded neatly, black and purple scales sparkling. And in his arms a tiny child, covered in fluffy black feathers, with bright blonde hair. It looked like it was sleeping. Next to them sat a boy with black hair and skull mask, the only one who noticed the camera and was smiling at it.

Phil cooed and reached out to touch it, talons making a little 'pling' as it connected with the glass. It was real. Something in his heart bloomed with warmth at the image. At the gentle look the man had when looking at the child. A man so similar looking to his friend... The man... the child... he was holding right now.

He looked down at pink hair and smiled more, tears threatening to spill. A gentle kiss was pressed against Chayanne's forehead before Phil nuzzled into his hair.

"Love you, my little hero."
