It was worse than the day before. The throbbing at the back of Grian's head hasn't died down and it hurt so much that he couldn't continue building.

At least his bed was comfy, or else it would've been a pain to stay inside almost all the time.

The jungle was beautiful. Right after sunrise, the leaves shone from morning dew and flowers were just opening up. Birds chirped and cawed as they flew through the branches. Grian smiled at the sight and slipped his elytra over his shoulders.

He should've known that they were too loose to go on that easily.

He ignited a firework in his hand, letting it pull him skyward. It was a trick that only few could master; to be able to light it without catching any of the sparks and re-igniting it mid-flight. That was why Grian was known as one of the best.

Sparks trailed after him as he glided through the forest, past Scar's snail, spiralling around Iskall's tree and loopty-looping around the wrench-shaped pillars on Mumbo's base.

Grian held his head in his hands, as though trying to squeeze the headache out of him. It hurt to even think about that. It's two days ago, why it still hurt?

His mind blurred as he realized that he mixed that up. No, it was two days ago, why does it still hurt? There we go. That's how bad it hurt to think.

Birds flew beside him as he reached the top of the canopy.

"Pesky birds!" he giggled, shooing them away as best he could, but it was rather difficult with the elytra wings attached to his wrists. He tucked the wings in and dove, going up and down in a wave pattern.

And then he took one sharp turn upwards.

Grian rubbed his head and stood up. His communicator buzzed beside him, probably other hermits looking for something or greeting each other.

<Xisumavoid whispers to you: hey G i noticed you haven't been out and about, just checking that you're okay>

<Grian whispers to Xisumavoid: ye just need to break>

<Grian whispers to Xisumavoid: just need a break*>

<Xisumavoid whispers to you: alright are you okay?

<Grian whispers to Xisumavoid: yep got headache is all>

<Grian whispers to Xisumavoid: im fin>

<Grian whispers to Xisumavoid: fine*>

He didn't think much about how his writing sucked, and blamed it on his hands not being used to typing or that he was tired. He lay back down on his bed.

Maybe I just rest. Maybe I just need rest.

Agh. My head. Hurts. So. Bad. Grian winced at the light coming through the giant windows of his mansion. I really need to finish this. So far, the only type of furnishment inside was a bed and a chest. It would've been better to sleep downstairs where it was actually decorated, but the villagers humming and working made his headache worse.

That one sharp turn upwards ruined the moment.

Suddenly, the sun and sky was getting farther away from him, but the last time Grian checked, his elytra wasn't even close to breaking, and it had unbreaking three on it. It shouldn't have broken that quickly.

Everything happened in slow motion. Grian finally realized that he was falling. He finally realized that his elytra wasn't broken, but it was falling beside him. He didn't panic. He knew that he would respawn and a fall from this height wouldn't hurt as bad, as long as it happened quick.

Famous last words.

Trees seemed to grow as he neared them, the leaves muffling his fall.

Dammit.

Twigs scraped against him as the ground neared. And one giant branch came out of nowhere before blackness surrounded him.

But he distinctly remembered seeing a blue bird on the same branch, staring at his disintegrating body.

Pesky bird. Grian remembered waking up in his bed, answering the other hermit's questions in chat and going to grab his stuff.

The headache only grew from that day. By now, it seemed normal. And Grian didn't know what to do. It seemed too small of a problem to go see Xisuma about, but most injuries should go away after you respawn.

He shook all the worries away and went to his nether portal, going to go restock the barge. Or anything to distract him.

He rummaged through the chests, taking payment and refilling them as he went. Fireworks went off behind him, making him wince and turn around to see a concerned armoured man.

"Xisuma hey." What he meant was 'Hey Xisuma.' Maybe my brain tired.

"Hey Grian," he said, pulling off his helmet and ruffling his hair before putting it back on. "I'm just checking in on you. I'd be lying if I said that I wasn't worried about you. I know you said you were okay, but it's been a week and most hermits haven't seen you."

What was going on inside Grian's head was much different. What? 'I'd be lying if I worried about you.' Wait, what? Did I mishear him. Xisuma tilted his head at the confused hermit, before putting a hand on his shoulder guiding him to the nether portal.

"I'm fine?"

"Here, G, let's just go to my base for a minute, okay?" He genuinely seemed concerned.

'For a minute my base go here.' Why don't anything make sense? "Pesky bird," was what Grian said in response.

dont badger me about the writing; its part of the story and youll see why in part two. sorry for taking so long to update, but life is stupid XD
