I'm Sorry That You Like Me

Being an introvert had its ups and downs. Some things were good, some were bad. For one, you don't mind being alone, but some people couldn't deal with that.
Maybe it was because Dave plays minecraft, stuck in his room, all day long.
Maybe he was just born that way; a nerd that knows too much about everything that has social anxiety. Self-diagnosed, but still.
Or maybe it was his past. Reading during recess. The class nerd that knows all about technology. No friends, mainly because he couldn't muster up the courage to talk. And nobody wanted to talk to him. Sarcasm tends to drive away company.
It was just him. His fault. Best friends with his dog, always in a race for views, slowly losing it.
His last video was weeks ago. No inspiration for anything. Wasting time bullying other players or tagging along in other videos.
But the problem wasn't that he hated being alone. No, the problem was that he actually liked it.
And that's why he, and most other youtubers, never has or had a serious relationship. That's why he didn't believe in 'soulmates' or anything like that. That someone to lean on, to trust, to love didn't exist. Not to him. Even if he needed someone to talk to.
Guess this is a sorry to my unknown lover. Why would anyone like me anyways? I'm just me. Can't even tell when I'm being rude.
And George just finished up with the Love or Host show, with a potential girlfriend and both have even more recognition.
I don't need anyone. And no one needs me.
He sighed and got up, deciding to get some fresh air. Grabbing a mask and his keys, he headed to the small coffee shop near his house. Wearing a mask helped in these situations; no one could see how horrible he looked in real life. Lack of sleep.
The bell dinged above the door as he opened it. The barista behind the counter looked up from her phone and smiled at him. Or at least he thought she smiled, masks do tend to get in the way.
"Hey Dave, what can I get you?" she asks, grabbing a small note.
How does she even remember me? That's like the hardest challenge in the world. He barely remembered her name, until he saw the small name tag on her shirt.
"Just an americano and a panini. To go," he replied, looking at the menu board behind the counter.
"Oki doki. With or without bacon? And do you want it preheated?"
"With. And, uh, sure." Hm, does that make me a cannibal?
The barista smiled at him once more and turned away. The cafe was small and only two other people were there, probably because of the pandemic. It was surprising that the place was even open. But at least he didn't have to make his own breakfast. Or lunch, since it was nearing ten.
"Dave? Your coffee's ready. Um, that'll be $8.50."
"M'kay." He handed her a ten dollar bill and grabbed the bag and cup. "Keep the change," he said, smiling at her.
"Bye!"
The walk home was even less eventful than the walk there. Double the boringness, if that's possible. He scrolled through twitter as he sat down at the table, seeing multiple tweets about how excited fans were about the next minecraft championship, or fanart.
He took the cap off the coffee cup and poured it into an actual mug. No reason; it was just an annoying pet peeve. The sandwich was still warm, thankfully, and hopefully Floof would let him eat it, instead of stealing it when he wasn't looking.
And he was about to throw out the paper bag, when a napkin fell out of it.

He just stared at the note for a solid five minutes before turning back to the sandwich, folding the note up and putting it in his pocket.
Why me?
Someone will love you. But someone isn't me.
