Moments with the Carter Family
This story I am going to be continuously updating with age and event happening- it's going to be like its own little one-shot book but I am too lazy to make a new book
Spy in the making- Age 7
Natasha was many things, sneaky was not one of them. Peggy Carter knew her daughter was watching her the moment the seven-year-old walked into the hallway, call it her maternal instincts. She knew her daughter was watching as she worked with the new shield agent Phil Coulson and an officer of over 9 years, Nickolas Fury. She was working from home today because Angie was off at an audition, and little Natasha had a week off for spring break.
Peggy was supposed to be spending time with Natasha but ever the work alcoholic she had to make sure Shield wouldn't fall apart while she was gone for the week. When Angie returns that next day they would be going away to the Hamptons with Howard, Maria, and Tony.
"Ma'am?" Coulson asked when she was silent for too long.
"Sorry, son," Peggy said turning her head from the hallway where she could see her daughter's small little feet shuffling to get a clear view of everything. "The entire week's worth of missions is all in the files- I don't want Alexander trying to act like he's in charge you know how hostile that man gets." She tried to keep talking but Nick's eyes wandered to the hallway door as well.
"Excuse me director but it seems you have a little spy listening in on our conversations." He nodded at the door.
"Lovebug I can see you" Natasha perked up at her mother's acknowledgment of her. She came walking in shyly. "What have we talked about the spying?"
"That mom doesn't like it," She muttered, Angie has been trying her best to encourage Natasha into dancing or acting, something safer side. As much as she loved Peggy she wouldn't want that kind of life for her daughter.
"Come on little bug," Peggy went to pick her up. "Say hello if you so insist on being in here"
"Hello Nicky, hello Coul!" she smiled shyly at the two agents.
"Hello," Nick nods.
"Hi Natasha, it's good to see you again," Coulson said. "Is that another missing tooth?!" Coulson was great with children, and Natasha found his behavior funny.
"Yeah!" She got all excited except her mother gave her a pointed look.
"How about you tell these two nice men how you lost the tooth young lady?" A small smirk that meant trouble laced the young girl's face.
"I got into a fight."
"A fight?" Coulson asked raising a surprised eyebrow.
"Did you win?" Nick asked to which earned him a glare from Peggy Carter.
"Little bug over here kicked a boy right where it hurts after he tripped her in the playground." Coulson was full of surprises but Nick nodded his head in full approval. He did pray for the carters and their adventure that their life would be with this girl. "Now my baby girl, what are you doing spying on us?"
"Mum you promised we could go to the zoo!" She sighed dramatically. "I wanna see the pink devils!" She sighed. She went to the zoo with Jarvis and Ana and Jarvis had put it in her head that flamingos are devils in pink.
"And we will but your mom has to come home and I have to finish this meeting."
"But mommmm." She groaned and dramatically fell back in her mother's arms.
"and to think your mom says you need to be more dramatic." She laughed. "Go run along and play while I finish this meeting than we can pack for the trip okay?"
"Fine." She frowned. "Bye Nicky, by Coul!" She ran off before either of the men could say their goodbyes.
"What a girl you have their ma'am." Nick comments, she smiled softly. Yes, she certainly did.
First of the worst- Age 14
Angie and Peggy were sitting on the couch watching some new drama that has been on for far too long. They had just sent Natasha out on her first "date." Which was really just a school dance that she was asked to.
"You know Peg," Angie began tracing her fingers along the skin that was showing under her shirt. "We barely ever have the house to ourselves, and tonight we seem to be child-free."
"It appears that we are. What are you suggesting we do?"
"Well for starters," She muttered. The pair had been together for about 15 years and they were still going strong. Keeping the romancer as alive as ever. "We can start by getting you out of these clothes, because as stunning as they might be-"
Angie was interrupted by the door slamming shut, both women stood in alarm. As they fixed their clothes an angry voice filled the room. "He's a liar! He used me. He didn't even dance with me! How am I supposed to date if the boys are school are simply that- boys."
"Oh lovebug," Peggy sighed. "What happened?"
"That idiot Jonathan happened!" She shrugged off her shoes and fell on the couch. Angie gave Peggy a pointed look at her daughter's dramatics. Peggy almost laughed, Natasha's dramatics really didn't compare to Angie's.
"What did he do? I thought he was such a sweet young man," Angie said.
"Yes sweet," Peggy sighed lifting her cup of tea up to her lips. "If that's what you want to call that boy" Angie swatted her wife's thigh in annoyance.
"He is not a man! But a stupid little boy who has no idea what it means to be polite or respect a date." She sighed.
"Well as much as I hate seeing you so hurt, remember these are teenage boys we are talking about," Angie said setting a hand on her thigh. "They are idiots- hell men these days are the same way. They never change! They are always going to be stupid, vengeful- hideous-"
"What your mother means to say," Peggy said putting her hand on her wife's arm to slow her down before she goes on a rant. "Is that these boys are too much of idiots to understand what's really important. These dates aren't meant to be serious, it's all about preparation."
"For what?" She asked rather annoyed.
"For the person, you are truly meant to be with." Peggy smiled.
"But before that happens you are given the amazing opportunity to cuddle with your mothers," Angie says sneakily giving the fourteen-year-old a hug as she groaned in annoyance. Peggy quickly wrapped her arms around them as well. Sure teenage boys are annoying- but mothers would always be a little bit more annoying. That was something you can count on.
Agent Hill: Age 18
Natasha was in her mother's office texting one of her school friends about prom. She was supposed to be having lunch with her mum, but Peggy was caught in a meeting, so in the meantime, Natasha would once again tell her friend she didn't need a date after what happened with Arron at homecoming- that cheating asshole will have karma thrown upon him in the worst way possible.
"Director Carter I-" A woman's voice brought Natasha's attention from her phone to the brunette standing at the door to her mum's office. Oh, she certainly got her attention. "You're not Director Carter."
"No I'm not- you are very observant," Natasha smirked crossing her legs and shifting her body to look clearly at the woman. "That's good, or else you wouldn't be here now would you agent..."
"Hill," the brunette narrowed her eyes while staring at the redhead. "Maria Hill. What are you doing here? Aren't you a little young to be an agent?"
"Oh, I am not an agent." Natasha said, "But I am having lunch with director Carter." Maria's dace went into shock. Natasha almost laughed at using her mum's official title. The only time her mom would use it was to mock her mum, usually, Natasha did the same.
"How did you get a lunch meeting with Director Carter?" Maria asked. Huh, she doesn't know. It wasn't like Peggy kept Natasha a secret, heck most people knew about her because she would barge her way into the office like she owned the place, but that was usually when her mum was working past dinner and Angie got annoyed.
"Oh we are very close," Natasha smirked. She was having fun messing with the older woman. She had to at least be twenty-two, maybe twenty-three. "Are you new around here?"
"yeah, Agent Fury's is my SO." She said. So this was Fury's new agent. She remembered when Nick said the other day that he was getting a new agent after his last agent quit. For some reason, she felt like Agent hill was going to be different. "Listen I think you should probably leave."
"Excuse me?" Natasha asked holding back laughter.
"I don't know who you are but I know that you wouldn't be friends with Director Carter- so whoever you are I am going to have to ask you to leave."
"Ask away darling, but I am not going anywhere."
"You have no right to be here," Maria said again. This woman was getting under her skin. "I am going to call security if you don't leave this office."
"You are hilarious. But I am not leaving- so go ahead and call them darling."
"Stop calling me that." Maria was pissed now. She would not be getting in trouble for letting someone be in the director's office. She walked up to the redhead and was about to grab her arm when the director's voice came from behind.
"What is going on here?" Maria's heart dropped- oh she was definitely getting fired.
"Director Carter I can explain this girl-"
"Natasha?" Maria's words officially stopped when Peggy spotted her daughter. Her heart dropped. "Oh dear I am sorry I forgot about lunch, let me just give these papers to Nick and we will be on our way."
"of course mum." Maria's eyes widened when Natasha said, mum.
"Oh, Agent Hill was there something you needed?" Peggy asked- Maria was dead silent. How could she speak? She almost forcefully pulled the director's daughter out of the building- she was going to get fired- or worse!
"No mum, Maria here was just making conversation." Natasha smiled innocently. Peggy gave her daughter a pointed look before nodding her head " Meet me at my car dear and we will leave." and with that, she left. Natasha smiled wickedly at Maria who was still flabbergasted from the entire encounter.
"So I am guessing your name is Natasha Carter?" the Twenty year old brunette asked.
"Natasha Alinanova Carter- Martinelli." She smiled. "The director is my mum"
"Yes, I can see that. Why didn't you just say so to begin with- no I am going to get fired- or worse!"
"Calm down- I won't tell if you don't." She shrugged. "Besides you aren't the first agent I've messed with, Phil and I certainly had our prank wars over the years." Natasha stood up grabbing her bag. "And to be clear I am not too young to be here, I am eighteen." She gave her a smirk and then brushed past her. "I will see you around Agent Hill."
"For my own sanity, I hope I don't see you again."
"oh don't be bitter my darling," She laughed as she used the newly founded nickname. Not realizing that it was what Peggy called Angie in endearment. "You know they say the best way to make a good impression is to impress the boss's daughter."
"Yeah well don't get your hopes up," Maria muttered. She watched as the redhead left, her throaty laughing lingering in her ears. Why did she have a troubling feeling this woman would be the death of her?
First Interrogation: Age 6
"Give it back." The small six-year-old glared at the man kneeling on the other side of the small coffee table. The man had to admit the small girl's glare was almost as haunting as her mother's, good for him he had been on the other side of her glare many times. He could handle the little first grader.
"I don't have it." He said to her.
Little context. They were having a Sunday dinner and Peggy had invited the men she considered her brothers, the howling commandos who were all sitting around watching as their main man, Timothy, or Dum Dum Dugan argue with the tiny Carter.
"I know you took my Biscuit." She insisted.
"Tell me, why on Earth would I take your cookies little Carter?" He asked raising an eyebrow.
"Because you are a thief." She insisted. "Jim said so." The man in question was holding back a laugh. He looked over at Gabe who shook his head. He knew Peggy would give Timothy a talking to.
"Jim is a little liar," Timothy said.
"No." She shook her head. "Not to me."
"He's got you brainwashed. Why would I do that to you? My favorite niece!"
"I'm your only niece." She said raising an eyebrow.
"You don't know my life." He insisted.
"Why did you take it?"
"I didn't."
"You did." he shook her head at the little girl with a smirk. His long mustache lifted with the smile.
"Little lady, give it up," He shook his head. "You have no proof, nothing whatsoever, so even if I did, you wouldn't have any proof to it all."
"I will call in backup."
"Backup?" He questioned and looked back at all the guys. "You mean them? They got nothing on me." She smirked, and at that moment he knew he was gonna get talking to.
"MUM!"
"Oh, you're in trouble now dum dum." Gabe laughed as he heard the familiar sound of Peggy's Sunday shoes walking down the hallway. Dum Dum tried to not look offended, he could handle Agent Carter. It was Mum Carter though he was a bit unsure about it.
"What is it, my love?" Peggy asked walking in. Natasha stood up, smoothing out her long dress and walking over to her, with a soft, yet sad smile. "What is with the frown little one?"
"Uncle Timmy took my biscuit mum," She said, Timmothy knew that he was going to be given a stern talking to the minute she pulled out the little pout. Natasha was much like her mother, she could get what she wanted.
"Did he now? Why don't you share with your uncle, little one?" She asked her little daughter. She was making sure her daughter was a kind and caring young lady but when she was with her uncles, she feels like all those lessons went out the doors.
"Because he didn't ask."
"No?" Peggy asked and Natasha shook her head. "Well I am sure that's all a misunderstanding, right timothy?" She asked sending her friend a glare. He shot his hands up in immediate defense.
"I didn't take it."
"He's lying mum! Look at his eyebrow it always twitches when he lies." Peggy laughed at her daughter attempt at being a tiny spy. "You said that was his tell."
"Lies. I don't have a tell," Timothy said. Natasha walked closer to her uncle glaring him straight in the face and her face fell a bit.
"You ate my biscuit." She said, her little lip wobbling a little bit.
"Oh darling," Peggy said, noticing her daughter's sudden change of mood. "How do you know your uncle isn't telling the truth."
"I can see the crumbs in his beard." She frowned. "Mum, Mommy bought those on her last trip to California! Those were her stage cookies." She was rather upset, Peggy had a feeling it was because she had been missing Angie, who was set to return home this afternoon, hence the dinner, from one of her movie sets.
"Oh lovebug, it's okay, I am sure your mommy will have something else for you."
"I was savings it for her," She said, her little eyes filling with tears.
"Oh little one," Timothy said feeling bad for hurting the little girl's feelings. "How about I take you to the store and we can go get your mom's favorite ice cream so she can have it after she returns. How does that sound?"
"Really?" She asked.
"yes," He nodded. "Gabe will come with."
"I will?"
"He will." Timothy nodded. Gabe sighed but stood up anyway. Dum Dum went to go grab his jacket and a small smirk appeared on the girl's face. Peggy looked at her daughter with an eyebrow raised.
"Was that all an act lovebug," Natasha only laughed in response to that. Oh, she was truly raising a little girl who was sometimes too much like her for her liking.
