Jesse's POV, in the Underneath

I hope everyone's doing alright... I thought as I walked to the Oasis to check on how everyone was doing in the Underneath.

When I got to the Oasis, I saw Romeo and Xara arguing loudly while the scavengers Jack and I had run into were watching them uncomfortably as well as Soup and Val from Romeoburg.

"Well hey there squishy!" Porkchop yelled once I was in their view.

"What's going on with those two?" I asked cautiously.

"I don't know! They said they wanted to help us all, but then they started yelling at each other." Soup said.

"Yeah, it got intense pretty quick." Val agreed.

"Argh!" Xara growled and stomped away while the scavengers and Val and Soup just watched awkwardly.

"We're out, later!" The scavenger wearing the creeper hat yelled and the rest of the scavengers dispersed to head back up to the surface.

"We'll go talk with Xara, we knew her well when she did live here before we moved to Romeoburg." Val offered and I nodded my head before going to follow Romeo.

A little bit later, I found Romeo sitting on the edge of a steep hill that turned out to be a mesa plateau.

"You doing OK?" I asked Romeo as I sat down next to him.

"I-I don't know... Xara isn't as forgiving as she used to be. Then again, I deserve that for killing Fred, taking away her lowers and then locking her away in the Sunshine Institute for 100 years..."

"Wait, she was there for 100 years?!"

"Yes, and now it seems like she's not going to be working with me anytime soon..." Romeo picked up a rock and tossed it down the plateau.

"Well, I may not have know you as long as Xara has, but I can tell that you genuinely feel bad for what you've done and, in time, Xara will see that too." I gently patted Romeo on the back and he smiled at me gratefully.

"Thanks Jesse, I'm glad to have, at least, reconciled with you." Romeo said as he smiled at me and I returned it as we got up to go back to the Oasis together.
