Lukas's PoV

"I swear to God, Jesse." He laughed as held up his hands to block the spray of water from his friend's hands.

The other boy smirked, purposely dipping his hands in the bucket again to flick the water at him. "Take that!" he laughed.

"Stop!" Lukas chuckled, grabbing a scoop of water from a nearby bucket and flinging it at Jesse, making the hair on the boy's head stick to his forehead and his shirt wet.

The two boys were currently at the back of the school with the rest of the class. Jesse and Lukas were just milling around, waiting for class to end before they could finally go home.

And somehow, they found a bucket of water and started a splash fight.

"You're evil!" Jesse hollered, laughing as the two boys continued to fling water at each other.

"Oh wait wait wait," Jesse held up his hands, "Great. Now look what happened," Jesse pointed to the wet floor, which was slippery from all that water.

Lukas blew a strand of hair out of his face, smirking. "I guess we can just mop all this up, Jesse. Don't need to stress." he walked over to the janitor's closet and grabbed a mop to soak up all the water.

Jesse leaned against the wall, watching as Lukas got to work. "Say," the brunette spoke up, "There's Petra."

Lukas looked up to see the girl, who waved at them, her auburn hair tied up in a high ponytail and her bandanna around her head.

"Jesse.." Lukas stopped mopping the floor, leaning on the mop. "Can I tell you something?"

The brunette grinned at him, "Anything, bud. What's up?"

Lukas wondered if this was such a good idea... he had that bad feeling again, the one which he always felt whenever he was about to do something wrong. But he ignored it. After all, at least three other people in his class knew about his... his secret.

But he hasn't told his close friend, Jesse yet.

Somehow, even though Jesse was Lukas's close friend, he didn't feel comfortable telling him his secrets.

"The thing is," Lukas began, letting go of the mop and running his hand through his hair, "I-I used to like Petra."

Jesse glanced over at him, breaking his eye contact with the auburn girl. "Say what? Why don't you tell her that you like her?"

Lukas felt his lip tremble a little, unsure if he should spit out the words he's been holding in for weeks now. He's never done this face to face with someone, scared to see their reactions.

"I cant tell her.. I said I used to have a crush on her." Lukas blabbed, "But that was ages ago. I-I have a boyfriend now." he felt himself manage to stammer out.

Lukas saw Jesse stare at him, wide eyed, "What?" the grin on his face immediately vanishing as Lukas bit his lip, knowing that everything was probably going to go downhill from there.

Jesse gave him a small look for shock and a look of disgust. "Eww.. you're gay?"

Lukas felt his heart hammering against his chest, immediately regretting those stupid words which spilled out of his mouth.

"U-uh.. yeah.. I mean," he smiled, "You can stay away from me if you want!" he laughed, but he felt upset.

Jesse was his close friend... shouldn't he understand? Instead of.. giving him that look.

Jesse frowned, moving away from Lukas a little before giving him a smile and bumping his shoulder against his. "Well, that's kinda surprising."

Lukas looked at his friend timidly. "Sorry if I made this awkward.."

Jesse grimaced, "Uh.. kinda? But who is it? Pen pal?"

Lukas nodded, feeling a weight off his chest as Jesse seemed to accept his words.

Maybe everything would be alright... but he couldn't forget those words Jesse said the moment Lukas told him he was gay.

"No wonder you're always on your phone during lessons." Jesse smiled knowingly as Lukas shrugged.

"Let's.. just drop it. Okay?" Lukas told Jesse, who nodded and started to mop up the floor.

Lukas felt himself get upset... with himself. Why did he have to open his big mouth and tell Jesse?

"Because you wanted attention." The voice in his head whispered as Lukas clenched his fist. "Shut up." he muttered, making Jesse look over at him. "What?"

Lukas shook his head absentmindedly, "Let's just get back to class... okay?"

**************************

"Multiple personalities, it's kinda cool, isn't it?" Jesse asked as Lukas walked beside the energetic boy. It was after class and they were starting to head home, and towards the bus stop.

The blonde smiled, remembering Aiden's say on the matter. "It's cool. But really, it can be kinda scary not knowing what personality you have."

Jesse shrugged, "I dunno. But don't you have multiple personalities? Like... your sad mood. And when you go all funny and crazy, and your holiday moods.. or your depressed-."

"Jesse," Lukas interrupted, "I said we can't talk about that mood, right? And I don't think I have multiple personalities..." his fingers wrapped around his phone, wanting to text Aiden but he had to pay attention to Jesse or else he would get upset.

"Oh right, sorry.." Jesse glanced at Lukas, who went quiet again. The brunette always spoke whatever was on his mind, sometimes, it could be annoying but Jesse was the only close friend he had in his whole class.

So he had to stick with him.

"Oh hey! There's Petra." Jesse ran up to the girl, who was way taller than both of them. Which Lukas found rather amusing.

"Hey Pet." Jesse greeted the girl as she smiled.

"What's up with you guys?" she asked curiously as Lukas unlocked his phone to talk to Aiden, unconsciously listening to Jesse and Petra talk.

Lukas smiled at something Aiden said as Jesse rambled on and on to Petra, who was listening politely. Lukas glanced at the girl, who winked at him. Truthfully, she knew his secret, but Jesse didn't know that Petra knew.

Complicated much?

"-and did you know that Lukas had a boyfriend?" Jesse finished, making Lukas freeze.

What?

The blonde looked at Jesse, shocked as Petra didn't seem surprised. How could Jess just blurt that out right now? In front of some strangers?

"Really?" Petra asked, glancing over at Lukas, a worried expression across her face. "Uh.. should I be surprised by that?" she asked.

What did that even mean? Lukas bit his lip, feeling antsy. "Drop it Jesse," he told the brunette, who was looking at Petra as if he were waiting for her to have the same reaction as him. That look of disgust.

"I'm not surprised." Petra said instead as Lukas felt a blush rise, but his hands felt cold.

How could Jesse just say that? Out loud?

"I think your bus is here." Petra told Jesse, who nodded and ran off without another word, waving goodbye to Lukas and Petra.

Lukas wished he didn't say anything to Jesse...

There was a reason why he kept all this a secret. To protect Aiden. And he made a mistake... but he was just so.. stupid. How could he just tell Jesse.?

And Lukas thought he could trust him.

The blonde looked at her, who tilted her head. "Who are you texting?" she asked.

Lukas didn't care anymore... he felt too shocked. So he muttered.

"My boyfriend.."
