Aiden's PoV
"What is it, Lukas?" Aiden sighed, looking at the blond haired boy who was pulling at his sleeve. "Pleaseeee just hang out with me for one day!" he pleaded. Aiden sighed. "You know, at this rate you're going, no girl's gonna date you." Aiden mumbled, getting off the couch and making Lukas grin happily.
"Lets go!" he cheered, grabbing Aiden's arm and making him wince, but Lukas didn't seem to notice. Truthfully, Aiden's arm had two deep cuts in his arm, which were currently healing from his previous self-harm session. "What's wrong?" Lukas asked, looking curiously at Aiden.
"Nothing- lets just go." Aiden replied, trying not to show Lukas how much pain he was in. Holy- it just felt like Lukas was stabbing his arm with a knife or something. "Now wait here, I'm gonna shop." Lukas skipped off to the mall, making Aiden sigh and follow behind.
He pulled out his phone and felt that familiar flip of his stomach. Jesse. That's what Aiden was thinking about. But no one knew of Aiden's secret crush, and he'd rather keep it that way, to be honest.
The last time he told someone... it got him into a lot of trouble.
A few years ago, he fell in love with a boy. Aiden vowed to never speak of his name again. Anyway, Lukas found out that Aiden was talking to that boy and he told on him. Which made him wonder why was he still talking to Lukas, to be honest. Lukas caused him to lose his phone, lose his friends... and nearly made him lose his life. It was complicated... but Aiden could always find a way out.
Now. Aiden was in love again. With Jesse. And this time, he was determined to keep this affair to himself. To be honest, Jesse didn't even seem to notice that Aiden was in love with him. He kept avoiding his questions and everything. And the worst thing was that Jesse lived so far away from Aiden.
Ugh. Why did he always fall in love with people who lived so far away from him? Why? Aiden sighed and sat on a bench, waiting for Lukas. He was feeling that same feeling again. The ache in his stomach whenever he thought about Jesse.
Aiden ran a hand through his hair and waited for Jesse to text him. And right on cue, as if Jesse had read his mind, Aiden's phone chimed.
Jesse: "Hi."
Aiden: "Thank the gods. I thought you forgot about me, to be honest."
Jesse: "As if. Guess what?"
Aiden noticed that Jesse seemed a bit more cheerful, to be honest. Which was good, since all he ever wanted was for Jesse to be happy.
Aiden: "What?"
There was a pause as Jesse typed. But while he was doing so, Aiden felt that something was wrong.
Jesse: "I'm in love with a girl."
Aiden: "Oh? Cool!"
Okay. Not cool at all. Not cool.
Aiden sighed and turned off his phone, not wanting to talk to anyone or anything. Not cool. Not cool. Crap- Aiden wished he could erase that message from his mind. "What do you mean?" Aiden muttered to himself.
Did all those times they spent together mean nothing? Or was he just being played with? Aiden quickly dashed into the shop to find Lukas. "I'll be right back, okay?" he told the blonde, who nodded and didn't seem to notice that Aiden was crumbling.
Aiden grabbed the penknife from the bag Lukas was carrying and started to run. He needed to run.
Aiden ran straight into the bathroom and slammed the door behind him, not caring about the other people around him. And he lost it.
He didn't know how long he sat there. Maybe for five minutes? Or ten? Or fifteen? Whatever it was, he couldn't help feeling hurt. Jesse liked a girl. He didn't like him.
How could he be so foolish? After all, their relationship will never work, since they lived so far apart from each other... Aiden stared at his arms, which was bleeding profusely. But he didn't have the energy anymore to even get up from the cold floor.
"Aiden?" he heard Lukas call, jolting him out of his misery. "W-Wait for me outside, okay?" Aiden covered his mouth to keep his voice from shaking again. "Okay.." Lukas said as Aiden closed his eyes.
Maybe it was just best for him to just... stop thinking about Jesse anymore.
