The Art of Love - Lukesse
Told from Jesse's point of view.
I sigh and grab another piece of paper from the small stack next to me. Picking up the pencil, I begin drawing again, trying to picture the five of us once more.
The leaves of the dark oak tree I'm sitting against rustle in the faint wind, joining the backdrop of the garden. There's a fountain maybe fifteen blocks away, and a couple parrots - a cyan and a green - are sitting on one of the polished andesite blocks next to their owners, a pair of teenagers. They're having an animated discussion, and they don't seem to have noticed me. Which is a relief, to be frank; there was chaos aplenty when we came back from the Portal Hallway.
I blink, shaking my head, and look back at the paper spread across my thighs. Some of the townsfolk had created these amazing patterns and decoration on the outside of their houses, and inspired me to try some art of my own. Besides, after helping Lukas out with the ending of his book, I think a few illustrations would be a nice addition. Because hey, why not?
And they couldn't have done any of it without each other. Axel's explosives and bravery, Petra's skill with the sword, Olivia's smarts, and Lukas...
"Hey, Jesse," someone says, sitting down next to me. I can tell immediately who it is; it's like my thoughts summoned him.
"Hey, Lukas," I respond, looking over at him.
"What're you up to this early in the morning?"
I rub the back of my neck, surprised. "It's still morning?"
"Not even lunch yet."
"I've been drawing. Or trying to, anyway; I'm not very good."
"Drawing?"
"I thought your book could use some illustrations."
He considers it for a moment, and says, "I think that's a great idea."
"Cool."
He leans over my shoulder and looks at the sketch. "You could round Axel's head a bit more. We're not collections of cubes." He picks the pencil out of my hand and begins sketching, catching Axel's likeness much faster than I could have.
A few minutes later, I'm looking at a near-perfect representation of the New Order of the Stone. "You could teach a class with this kind of talent," I comment, taking the pencil back.
He snorts a laugh. "Me, teach a class? Hardly. Way too many people." He sighs, smiling. "Beating Petra in a one-on-one swordfight would be easier." We both laugh, imagining the situation where that came to pass.
"So that's out of the question. You could teach me, though," I say after the laughs begin to fade. "One-on-one."
"And in return, you can teach me about swordfighting. Petra challenged me to a duel in three days."
"You weren't kidding. I don't have any scheduled meetings for tomorrow, so does three hours after noon work for you?"
"It's a date," he replies, then cringes.
Noticing the two teens starting to realize we're here, I say, "Maybe we should go."
"Agreed," he stammers, standing and helping me up.
"See you tomorrow, then?" I ask as we walk away.
"Tomorrow."
—
That last bit reminds me of that song from Annie.
Tomorrow, tomorrow,
I love you, tomorrow
You're only a day away~
It went something like that.
WELL. Anyway. Welcome to my Minecraft: Story Mode oneshot book! We're going to write oneshots for the Big Three (Lukesse, Luktra, and Jetra) first, then start taking requests for ships.
