Lukas x Petra
{A/N: Heya, everyone! I know this wasn't exactly requested, but I wrote this a while ago. Since it turned out pretty nice, I thought I'd share it with you! Enjoy! Oh and by the way, I'm already sorry for Lukesse shippers but you might not exactly like this. :'D}
"Come on, Petra, we're going to be late!"
"But what will my parents say, if I'll go out in this jacket?"
"It's warm enough, now let's go! At least I'm going, you can stay here if you want to deal with your clothes", Jess sighed, as she opened the front door of Petra's house. "I promised Jesse not to be late this time..."
Petra shook her head, brushing her orange hair quickly and looking at the mirror. She didn't look the best today, but good enough, probably. "Fine, I'm done now. Let's get going."
It was already pretty dark, but the streetlights were turned on, so the two girls didn't have to walk in any dark streets. Adjusting her emerald green scarf, Jess said dreamily: "Oh, this evening is going to be so perfect. Can you imagine, that we're actually going to visit that new bridge? I know it's just small, but Lukas is coming too..."
"Mhm", Petra mumbled, putting her hands into the pockets of her purple-ish jacket, as they got cold. She didn't feel too good about this, specially because her parents had told her not to be out for too long, and it seemed like Jess wasn't going to go home before 9 PM.
Another reason for Petra not being really excited for this was how Jess would never shut up about Lukas, and how romantic this and this would be... Of course the black-haired girl didn't know how Petra felt about this, because there was something that Petra never would've told Jess, if not else, then just to stay as her friend.
Jess took a mirror out of her red bag and checked, that her hair looked great. Then Petra felt a tap on her shoulder. "Hey, Petra. You're coming to the school's autumn dance, right? Do you have a pair already?"
"No", she replied and shook her head lightly, then continuing: "Do you?"
Honestly, Petra could expect what Jess would answer. Either that Lukas is her pair, or then that soon she would have one. The redhead hoped that this year would be different, but probably it wouldn't. That wouldn't be too bad, though.
Sure Lukas was her life-long crush, but Jess was her friend after all, and she deserved to be happy.
Unlike Petra thought, Jess slightly slowed down and sighed. "Nope, not yet. I was so much hoping for Lukas to ask me, but he hasn't done it yet... Maybe next week then, the dance isn't that soon after all."
Raising her eyebrows in surprise, Petra replied: "Huh. Yeah, maybe next week. That would make sense." Admittedly, she was happy about this kind of reply, but didn't show it to Jess - obviously.
"I so hope that he'll ask me, I already have started planning, how I do my hair...", Jess continued. Petra didn't really know, what to reply to that. Should she try to support her friend all the way, or tell her not to get too excited?
She sighed of relief, as Jess said herself: "Well. Hey look, we're here now! Hey guys, you ready to go?"
As the green-eyed girl walked past Petra to the others, the redhead smiled to herself. She sure liked to talk with Jess, they always had something to talk about, but it somehow felt nice to get a moment away from her too.
Petra looked, how Jess straight away started talking to kind of everyone, but the speech was clearly directed at Lukas - of course, Jess was good at this.
It already was a bit colder than when the girls had left home, but Petra just bravely ignored it, stepping to the others.
"So, Jesse. You know the place, like exactly?" Jess asked in a demanding tone.
"Well, not exactly... Olivia, do you have the map?"
The restone engineer nodded. "Yes, of course. We should go this way, like first we go here, and then turn to the left, and then..."
"Why didn't you find out about everything before we even came here like I told you to do, Jesse?!"
As Jess, Olivia and Jesse were really focused on arguing and Axel was just eating some homemade cookies a few steps away from them, Lukas took the chance and went to Petra.
"Hey."
For the second time that evening Petra felt a tap on her shoulder, but this time it wasn't so impatient and demanding, it was more gentle and... Friendly in general.
"Oh hey, Lukas", she replied as she turned around and forced herself to give a small smile. "How's it going?"
"Well, you know, the usual. Just studying for the last exams of this month, and yeah. How about you, how have you been lately?"
Petra gave a small shrug. She would've wanted to just vent all about Jess and everything, she would've wanted to tell everything to Lukas honestly, but decided that it was the best not to. "I dunno, alright I guess. Been a bit stressed, but that's all..."
Lukas nodded. "I see. Hey, by the way. I mean, of course I like just talking about anything with you, but there was something that I wanted to talk abo-"
"Hey, Lukas, could you anyhow defend me in this argument? Tell Jesse that he's the one to blame, he won't believe me!" Jess complained in an unnecessarily loud voice, interrupting Lukas.
Sighing, Lukas turned back to the others. "What's this whole thing even about?" he asked with a clearly tired voice, like he wouldn't have really wanted to take part in Jess' more or less stupid argument.
Petra frowned slightly, but looked just away from everyone, staring at some trees. She really would've wanted to know, what did Lukas want to talk about. Knowing him, it could be anything but still she had a spark of hope that it would be about the school's autumn dance, which seemed to be Jess' favorite subject of all - she could talk endlessly about anything related to it.
Of course Lukas was allowed to talk to anyone, but somehow Petra had hoped that he would've wanted to talk to specially her, and that at least he could've finished his sentence.
But well, things happen, and most of the time they don't go like you would've wanted them to go. Or at least this was what she thought.
Petra flinched, as she noticed that Jesse was waving his hand in front of her face. "Heeeyyy, you awake? We're going now", he chuckled. Pushing his hand away from her face, the redhead gave a slight chuckle too.
"Sorry, I was in my thoughts. You figured out the way already?" Petra asked with a completely casual voice. Even though she felt so much different things at the moment.
Even though Jess was basically her closest friend, somehow Jesse always was the one to cheer her up, even if it's just making her laugh by something stupid action or telling a bad joke.
Jesse shook his head, giving another chuckle. "Well, I didn't, but after an argument Olivia agreed to try to find the way there. And well, she is good with maps, so we should get there in no time!"
"Awesome", Petra smiled, following Jesse to the others, who already started walking. Seeing how Jess talked to Lukas, laughing sweetly at times and keeping her hand on his shoulder almost all the time made Petra feel like her heart would be broken into pieces, but she did her best to ignore this. If not for any other reason, then for Jesse, so that he wouldn't worry too much.
And after all, Lukas didn't seem to be as excited as Jess... There was a little hope, but it maybe wasn't enough.
"Sooo, your parents gave you the permission to come here after all?" Jesse dragged her out of her thoughts once again after a while, which Petra was actually grateful about.
"Well, technically, yes. If I won't stay for too long. But I have a bad feeling about Jess, she could probably be here and talk with Lukas for hours..."
"Hey, whenever you need to go home, just tell me and I'll come with you. Okay?"
Petra smiled at Jesse's offer, this time the smile wasn't forced. "Okay. Thanks Jesse, you're a great friend."
"No problem, that's what friends do."
"Lukas, just look at this, isn't this place beautiful?" Jess asked excitedly, as she stepped on a small, wooden bridge which had a lot of decorations carved into the wood, such as flowers and other plants.
Her black hair shone so perfectly in the moonlight, looking like it wasn't even black, but silver-colored. Yep, no wonder why Lukas would prefer her to Petra. Or that's what Petra thought, as she looked at Jess. After a while she couldn't even look anymore, but turned away.
There was a weird, painful feeling which bothered Petra always, when she saw Jess with Lukas. She had been trying to convince herself, that it wasn't jealousy, but as she found no other logical explanation to it, she had to just admit the truth. She was really jealous of her good friend.
It wasn't easy, since at the same time she had to and wanted to support Jess in everything and be happy for her, and at the same time she wanted to scream at her.
Petra couldn't help but look at the time from her phone almost all the time, not being able to decide if she wanted the time to go faster or not. One part of her would've wanted to just be alone, isolate in her room and cry into a pillow just to let feelings out, and other part lf her wanted to stay, hoping that Lukas could've talked to her again.
As she glanced back at the bridge, nobody was there anymore. Jess was now with Olivia and Axel, looking at something among the big spruce trees, and Lukas was a few steps away from them. From time to time, Jess said something to him, but he wasn't really paying attention.
"Hey, uh, Jesse. I guess I should go home now", Petra said. 'It was getting cold anyway', she told to her second part, which would've wanted to stay.
Jesse smiled understandingly and nodded. "Alrighty. Hey, guys, me and Petra are leaving now", he said to the others, who turned to look at him.
"Already?" Jess asked, acting like she was sad about them leaving, but Petra saw that she was happy that either Jesse or she would leave. She continued: "Well, bye! Good night, and don't you get lost in the forest, Jesse!"
"I might not know the way exactly, but I can get us home without getting lost, Jess..."
"How about I would walk Petra home? I know the way pretty well and I'm a bit tired anyway", Lukas suddenly suggested. Jess immediately frowned, unintentionally, but Petra couldn't help but smile.
Shaking her head, Jess crossed her arms. "No, don't leave yet! Jesse won't get lost. I didn't tell you about what happened yesterday, yet-"
Lukas placed a hand on Jess' shoulder. "Look, we can talk about that tomorrow. Let me go now, I can clearly see that Jesse would like to stay more than me."
"Well, yeah", Jesse said, glancing at Petra. The redhead had never told him about her crush on Lukas, but it wasn't a problem for him to guess that - even though she didn't notice it herself, her actions and words revealed everything.
"Now, night, Jess, see you tomorrow. Come on, Petra, we should get going", Lukas continued, starting to walk away, with Petra following him. "Night, guys!"
She had no idea, how that happened. No idea at all. But soon she found herself from walking home next to Lukas, and talking about whatever came into mind - now that it was just the two of them, talking felt so easy.
"Hey, Lukas", Petra soon said, as they were pretty close to her home. She was a bit unsure about this, what if she would be too curious? But oh well, she just had to get to know this. "You wanted to talk about something, right? What was it?"
Lukas scratched his neck kind of nervously. "Yeah, right. I was going to... Ask you something."
The girl nodded. "Yeah? Go on and ask." She was actually surprised, how she could sound so normal and calm, even though she didn't feel like that at all.
"So... Uh- How should I-"
He stopped walking. "Petra, I was wondering... Would you like to be my pair at the school's autumn dance?"
There it was. Just like in Petra's imagination, except for this time it was real. In fact, it was surprising, she couldn't believe this was true! In her mind she had planned so many different things, how she would answer, but now she couldn't remember anything.
"Yes, I would", was all that she could say. Her voice maybe wasn't expressing her happiness very well, but that could be seen from her smile.
Lukas seemingly was at least as happy as Petra was, and surprised too. He had been sure that she would've already had a pair, or just something else in mind...
"I, I- Thank you", he managed to say.
Petra gave a very slight chuckle, as she saw how surprised Lukas was. "Hey, no problem. I'm... Really glad that you asked."
The blonde still just smiled, so she continued: "Well, good night, Lukas. And see you tomorrow."
Petra already turned to walk home and took a few steps ahead, as Lukas grabbed her shoulders from behind and turned her back around. "Wait."
Before she could ask, what was it, Lukas kissed her shortly, before letting go of her and getting ready to walk to his home. "Now, good night, Petra. Can't wait to see you tomorrow."
With those words, he left Petra there standing on the street, and smiling like an idiot. All she had been dreaming of all this time had come true in one night, and in reality it all was a thousand times better than in imagination.
