Chapter Twenty-One

“So.”

“So?”

“So.” Mandy nodded.

“Soooooo...” Amy, sang.

Julian turned in his seat and looked at me, “Well, do you plan on explaining why I’m wasting a perfectly good date with you?”

Amy snickered, “You should keep your friends close and your enemies closer, brother.”

Julian glanced at her from the corner of his eye, still facing me. Then his gaze swivelled back to meet mine, “Kenny. What did she tell you?”

I crossed my arms, “More like, what have you not been telling me?”

Julian stood up, “That’s it. We’re leaving.”

I raised an eyebrow, “We?”

Julian glared at me, “I’m not going to stand here and listen to this. You’re either with me or without. Are you going to sit here and believe MY sister over ME?”

I looked at Amy who was smirking at Julian and then back to Julian who was too busy glaring at me to notice.

I stood up shakily, “Julian, I-”

Julian quickly held my hand and pulled me towards him, “Amy, you have issues. Why can’t you just let me be happy with him? What kind of sister even does that?”

Amy snorted, “The kind who might possibly think that your version of happy is twisted. Ever thought that Kenny’s version of happy might not even be with you? Oh wait, you did! Which is why you eliminated all chances of him ever-”

“Stop. Shut the hell up. You don’t even-”

I pulled my hand away from Julian’s, “Wait, you mean, Amy wasn’t lying? Okay, this world is officially ending, gardening tools.”

Mandy was just sitting there quietly sipping on her drink, staring at us with wide eyes.

Amy stood up now, slamming her hands on the table, “I don’t even what? What? Admit it, Jules. Your entire relationship is one big fat lie. Freaking hypocrite.”

I sighed, holding my palm up, stopping Julian from talking.

Amy smiled triumphantly and crossed her arms.

“Both of you have issues. So, Julian lied and probably made sure I had no kind of dating life while he had one almost as bad as yours. You’ve slept with half this state’s population. Or more. I don’t even want to know.”

Both of them opened their mouths to protest but I quickly took some fries from the table next to us and stuffed it in their mouths.

“No. Shut up and listen to me.”

“No matter what your issues are Amy, Mandy loves you.”

Mandy spat out her drink, “LOVE? WHO THE HECK-”

“I’m sorry but is there a problem here?”

We all looked at the waiter, shaking our heads and sat down quietly.

Julian looked at him, “Actually, could you get that table next to us a plate of fries? Put it on our bill. We might or might not have eaten some of them.”

If I had said that, I’d probably have to pay for both plates and then get kicked out. Somehow Julian managed to get away with it AND he didn’t get stared down by the waiter.

“So before you two try to slap me or something, let me continue.”

Mandy glared, “Make that three.”

I gulped, “So as I was saying, Amy, Mandy l-likes you, no matter what.”

Mandy smiled, satisfied.

“So, Julian lied. He did whatever the heck. No matter what, I could still have left him. I get that a lot of couples go through so much crazy stuff and I don’t know about you guys but what we’ve been through is pretty much enough drama for the next sixty nine years of my life.”

Julian snickered quietly.

Ignoring him, I continued, “So yes. I’m done.”

Julian immediately stopped snickering and turned to look at me, “Wait, what?”

I slapped my hand over his mouth, “Don’t you just hate it when people interrupt you and kill your moment? Anyway. I’m done with all this drama. No more. Do we have a deal? The next time we go out partying, no more random Hey-Let’s-Drug-Kenny-And-Make-Him-Look-Like-Nicki-Minaj Moments.”

Mandy and Amy both pouted.

“Okay, we can have those moments. Without drugs, though. No more random kisses though. This man’s lips are the only lips I’m kissing.”

Suddenly, before I even knew what was happening, Julian stood up, slapped some money on the table, grabbed my hand and pulled me out of the restaurant.

Holding my face in his hands, he whispered as if he was afraid, “Did you really mean all of that?”

I blinked and then shrugged, “Only if you understand that I don’t want anymore drama or lies. Look, if a guy hits on me, you can’t stop that. You should trust me enough now, to know that I won’t flirt back. He could be as hot as Ian Somerhalder but I’d still want you. You’re the Ash to my Pikachu, why don’t you get that?”

Julian just closed his eyes, not saying anything.

After a minute, of me wanting melt into a puddle from being too embarrassed, Julian opened his eyes.

“Pikachu uses Love. It’s super effective.”

I laugh as he pulls me in for a hug and I mutter, “You just had to have the last word, didn’t you?”

Julian pulled away a little and smirked, “Well, I do wear the pants in this relationship.”

“Well, I do have the better butt in this relationship.”

“Oh no, you didn’t.”

I winked, “You know that’s right.”

Julian grinned and then entwining his fingers around mine, he shrugged, “So, I guess we’re dating now, huh.”

“Stop trying to play it cool, McHarden. You’re secretly squealing like a little girl in there.”

A familiar sexy smirk slid back on to Julian’s face, “So what if I am?”

This time, I shrugged, “I don’t blame you. With these good looks and amazing moves, you’ve fallen for me.”

Julian laughed, “Damn right, I did.”

I smiled, feeling my cheeks get all warm, as they usually did, around him.

“So what now?”

Julian looked down at me, “Let’s just...walk.”

“Okay.”

“And talk.”

“Okay.”

“Well, I think this has been the easiest conversation I’ve ever had with you.”

“Don’t get used to it, babe.”

“You just called me Babe.”

“Did not.”

“Like the pig, in that movie.”

“Oh. Then yes, I totally did.”

“Aw, I love you too.”

I just looked at him from the corner of my eye. He was smiling down at me.

“Okay.”

“We’re dating now, don’t I get more than an okay?”

“Nope. You gotta work your way up there.”

“But I love you, like I love Spongebob. Or Chilly Sauce. Or Cheese. I really love cheese.”

I stopped walking and watched him as he walked ahead.

He turned around, smiling that same sexy smirk that always got my knees weak, “What?”

I stammered, “Y-yo-you, remembered?”

He held his hand out, waiting for me to hold on to it, again. Once I took his hand, he pulled me closer, “I’d never forget. It was the first thing you said to me that gave me hope that you actually cared for me, at least a little.”

“Wh-what? I totally gave you hints before.”

“Nothing like that.”

“Pssh, whatever.” I looked away, pretending to concentrate very hard on the pavement, as we walked.

“Hey Kenny?”

“Hmm?”

“Still hungry?”

“Kinda.”

“Wanna get some food then?”

“A drink will do, actually.”

He grinned, “Sure you wouldn’t like fries with that?”

I leaned towards him and whispered, “I’d like fries with you, McHarden.”
