"Han? Where are ya?" McCree called out.
"I am right here. Are you alright, Jesse?" Hanzo replied, walking up to McCree.
"Yeah, I'm definitely fine. Jus' fine," the cowboy said.
"Are you sure? You appear to be awfully flustered," mentioned Hanzo.
"I'm bein' totally honest here. I'm better than I've been in a long time. I've been thinking, actually."
"Is that why you have been avoiding everyone the past few days?"
"Well, I ain't been avoidin' everyone... Jus' you."
"And why is that?"
"I-I uh... God, this was so much easier in my head."
"It is ok. Just close your eyes, take a deep breath and count to five."
Jesse did what Hanzo had told him to.
"You still have your eyes closed." Hanzo pointed out.
"It- uh, it's a lot easier this way."
"Alright then. Proceed."
"Okay, well, I've just been thinkin' about jus' how similar we are. Not jus' our tastes, but our personalities too. If ya really think 'bout it, we ain't that different. I mean, I prob'ly couldn't mention anythin' at the moment, but we're both here right now, right?"
"Jesse..."
He opened his eyes.
"It's taken me a long time ta realise this. Far longer than I shoulda,
but I've been pushin' everyone away recently with no good reason."
"Then why haven't you done that with me?"
"'Cause... Um. I-I err."
" 'Because when I am with you I feel complete.' Is that what you were going to say?"
"How did ya know?"
"Honestly, I have been working on a similar speech myself."
McCree was silent.
"Also, I walked in on you reciting it to yourself."
"If ya knew how I felt, why didn't ya tell me?"
"I was not sure if you were ready. I did not want to pressurise you into anything you were not comfortable with."
"Darlin'..."
"I was also a bit scared to say 'I love you' first as well. I was planning on doing this later but I moved my plans forward."
Hanzo reached into one of his pockets and pulled out a small piece of folded paper.
"I am not overly familiar with romantic traditions in America, but in Japan there is a special origami which makes this... the Lover's Knot. I hope you will accept it."
McCree delicately took the Lover's Knot from Hanzo's outstretched hands so as not to damage it or ruin the intricate brushwork.
"There is a message inside."
Not bothering to read it, Jesse took Hanzo into his arms and held him in a loving embrace.
