Garroth x Aphmau // One Day

The night was starting to dwindle down, everyone tired from a day of celebration. Everyone sat in chairs at tables, around the dance floor. All their eyes lay on the dancing newlyweds, her head lay on shoulder, while one of his hands runs through her light blue hair. Their bodies swaying along with the sound of the music.

Not everyone in the room was looking at them though. Just two people, who sat on opposite ends, their eyes were on each other. Today had been the first time they'd seen each other in months.

Those two years had gone by so horribly slow, as they waited to see each other again. Although neither could find words to say, even when they were found face-to-face due to their duties as, groomsmen and bridesmaid. Neither could they hardly look at each other then either.

Their hearts ached for some sort of interaction though.

When the DJ announced it was time for the last dance, before sending the bride and groom away for their honeymoon. Garroth knew what he had to do, or else he'd be leaving tonight full of disappointment.

He stands up, his legs then carry him across the room. Stopping in front of her, his face grows red. "C-Can I have this d-dance?" Garroth stutters on his words, his gaze staring off somewhere else.

Aphmau was left shocked, that he actually came over.

That he actually asked her to dance.

Slowly she nods her head, her hand reaching out to take his. Garroth laces his fingers with hers, as he pulls her up from her chair. Leading her out to the dance floor, finding a spot near the bride and groom, Garroth turns to look at Aphmau. Their eyes meeting at that moment, blushes dancing across their faces.

Garroth wraps his arms around Aphmau's waist, pulling her closer. Aphmau wraps her arms around Garroth's neck, a gentle smile crossing her lips. His touch felt nice, it sparked memories of happier times.

Their bodies sway along with the music. Aphmau rests her head against Garroth's chest. Her heart's everlasting guilt returning, regretting her decision of leaving him, for someone she claimed to be better. When he turned out to be a complete jerk and someone who wasn't worthy of protecting her heart.

"I'm sorry..." Her words were low, even Garroth could barely hear them. But he did, and he knew what she was sorry for. He heard from Laurance about what Aaron had did, and at how Aphmau regretted ever leaving him for Aaron.

Still, that could never take away the pain he had felt back then. Nothing could. He felt betrayed by the one he loved most in the world, that she'd go behind his back and fall for another, even after he had proposed to her. He'd never forget that moment, she threw the engagement ring at him. That moment still haunts his dreams.

"I don't expect you to forgive me. I was wrong, my heart was wrong. He tricked me, played me like a fool, just so he could use me to make her jealous." She continued, tears now forming in her eyes. Aaron was a user, an asshole who merely used Aphmau to gain another girl's attention. All the work he put in, in order to make her heart his, wasted. When he never even loved her in the first place. In the process he ruined the love she already had.

A fool she was, to be so willing to give up what she had.

He let out a deep sigh, pulling away and placing a his hands on her shoulders. "You have no idea how bad it hurt, when you left me. My heart ached for days - No, it still aches. I tried to find another person to give my heart too, but nothing worked. None was able to capture it like you did. And I forgive you, you were listening to what you're hearted wanted back then. Even though, it was completely foolish. But you can't control what the heart wants, it simply wants what it does." Garroth's heart knew what it wanted, the same thing it's always wanted. Aphmau. Not once, in the twenty years he's known her has his heart wanted another. He found his person at the ripe age of five.

Some hearts are different though, and want more than just one. They sometimes go through many different 'ones.' Aphmau's heart wanted more than just one, though in the end it returned to just one. Maybe it never even left, just simply buried underneath another one, until she realized what she truly wanted, after learning that she was just being used. And after her heart cleared from that heartbreak, she realized what she really wanted, but could never bring herself to go back.

"I don't get how you can forgive me though, I hurt you."

"You may of hurt me, but I just can't forget about you. Nor can I forget what we had." Garroth never wanted to forget, the good times at least. "Plus, humans make mistakes."

"And I'm filled with me." Aphmau laughs.

"We all are." Garroth retorts, his hands squeezing her shoulders.

The music in the background stopped, the few couples who joined in for the last dance stopped dancing, as well as the bride and groom. Garroth allows for his hands to drop to his side, a smile spreading across his lips.

"It's a shame we never got to find out what our wedding day could've been like." Garroth states, a hint of sadness laced in his voice.

"Maybe one day, we'll get a chance to find out." Aphmau's words take Garroth by surprise.

"Maybe we will."
