10 - CURSE THOSE WEBS OF STICK!
And so it began.
No ones POV:
The fog bots as they had so cleverly been called, crawled through the vents with no sound, in full on stealth mode. Nat, Loki, and Pepper were already clear of the facility, after being told that Fury had wanted to see them. That of course, was a lie, and the others would make up for it later. But for now, it was just to get the three out of the tower.
Slowly, a thin layer of smoke came from the vents, silently. Everyone was in the living room, except Banner who was in the lab. The team of prankers had desired that it was best not to have an angry Hulk hovered in pink glitter tearing up half of Manhattan.
Suddenly a few heads snapped up, all of a sudden aware of the veil of smoke. Then the panic set in. They all knew what it was for, but the dangerous part was nothing like this had ever happened before. What were they planning?! What was going to happen next?! Then the paint drones flew down and turned on their cloaking setting. They were invisible. And Tony, - poor Tony, - was their first victim.
Tony POV:
I had been sitting on one of the couches, thinking about ways to enhance my fight achievement during battle, when suddenly I felt something was happening. Looking up I noticed a thin layer of smoke coming down. Peter, Clint, and Sam! I thought I told them no more pranks! But I should have known they wouldn't listen. I rolled my eyes.
But then something hit me in the chest. I looked down and saw red paint staining the front of my shirt. The Pietro, who had been sitting next to me, looked at my red-stained shirt and his eyes went wide. He picked me up in his arms and started running in circles. Not fully using his powers, which I was thankful for.
"Tony's bleeding- TONY'S BLEEDING!" He screamed. "Guys what do I- gah!" He was interrupted by a blue splat of paint hitting him in the back. But he must not have known it was paint, because he started freaking out even more and went full speed in the living room. WHILE STILL HOLDING ME! I would have soared out of his arms if not for Wanda using her magic to pick me up and set me on the couch, out of the way of her iditoic brother. I looked to find her, but then realized that I couldn't see her. I couldn't see anything. Smoke bombs.
Steve POV:
As soon as the veil of smoke came down, I sighed. Not again. Peter, Clint, and Sam... when will they learn. I mean two of them are grown adults- Well... they don't always act like it to be fair. And Peters a kid, so what would you expect?
I watched as smoke came down thick around us. It was more like fog to be honest; it didn't have any smell. But I could still tell it was smoke. I just sighed again, waiting for the paint bombs and whatever else there was gonna be. But then suddenly I heard Tony's nanotech suit forming around him, and I moved towards that sound. I soon found him near the middle of the living room, and got back to back with him.
"Steve?" Tony whispered when he realized that someone was behind him.
"Yep," I said, and hefted my shield. "So, what's the plan?" I whispered back.
"Stand guard... try not to get hit." He said and my enhanced hearing picked up the hum of mechanical whirling. And it wasn't Tony's suit.
"I hear something," I whisper, and look around. Suddenly a blotch of pain comes flying out of nowhere and I lift up my shield to block it.
"Incoming!" I yell, and I can hear the sounds of others in the room getting pelted too. Me and Tony start to move towards the connecting kitchen. I try to see through the smoke for a table or something to use to hide, but it's too thick.
"Try the elevator," I whisper as quietly as I can. I can feel Tony nod his head, and we start to move that direction. Ever so often I raise my shield to dodge a paint or glitter bomb, and Tony holds up his energy shield, doing the same. Soon I spot the elevator button blinking through the smoke and rush over to press it, abandoning Tony in the process. But he seemed to freak out a little, calling out my name softly, as to not alert anyone where we were. As soon as I pressed the button, I ran towards the sound of Tonys voice and guided him into the now opening elevator. As we both got in, I heard someone, - probably Thor, - cry out.
"THE MAN OF SPIDERS HAS TRAPPED US IN HIS WEBS OF STICK!" He yelled, and I realized what was going on. Peter, Sam, and Clint were sticking us in place with webs, then pelting us with whatever. Smart, but evil.
The elevator doors slammed shut, and we could finally see because there was no smoke in the elevator. Tony deactivated his suit back into his wristwatch, and we both collapsed on the elevator floor. Man... we've been on missions before, but if those had been small projectiles and not glitter bombs, we'd have been dead already.
Tony rests his head on my shoulder, and I tilt my head onto his. We sit like that for a few moments, just listening to one another's breathing, and I start to feel a bit sleepy. My eyes slowly drifted closed, and I shifted so my arm was around my husband. He moved in closer to me, and I never wanted this moment to end. Oh but of course it has to.
No Ones POV:
The drones were programmed to find their targets, no matter what. So when a blip on their screen showed two targets moving off towards the elevators, two drones were sent into the elevator shaft to follow their targets.
A few minutes later, the vent on top of the elevator was shoved in, and the two drones flew into the elevator. But they weren't alone. A third followed in, though this one was different. It came down and shot out webs all over the married couple, sticking them where they sat. The two people were so shocked that there was nothing they could do. They sat there helplessly as they were pelted with paint, glitter, and even soap. Why soap? Well it was told to get everywhere, and make everything slippery. After the drones left, the two just laid there as a mess, having no motivation to move, much less anything else.
