(37) ENTP X INTP

I received a couple of entp x intp pairing requests so here it is! I think a lot of people have been looking forward to this particular pair hahaha

ENTP (male) x INTP (female)

"So," a man drawls to himself when he attentively watches through the glass wall when a woman, presumably a newcomer, enters their office. The said woman seems to be on her way to the meeting room he is currently inside. "Is this the third competitor?"

Ordal, another man who is seated beside him, replies, "I guess so. After all, the supervisor said that we're only waiting for one more person. And that person would be a woman-"

The door is suddenly pushed open and the woman they were watching enters the room. Her hair is sleeked to the back of her shoulders with no stray strand in sight, her shoulders are relaxed, and yet her neck holds her head high. She stops as the door closes behind her. "Good morning," she greets the men curtly.

"G-Good morning," Ordal stammers, too stunned by her endearing presence to form a straight sentence. "I'm O-Ordal."

"I'm Serena."

The other man stays quiet, his gaze still on the woman. A small smirk creeps up his face. He's beginning to like his second competition. Finally, right off the bat, she's bringing more of a challenge than this pathetic stuttering excuse of a man beside me.

The woman shifts her eyes in the man's direction. She brings a hand out to him. "As I said, I am Serena. It is a pleasure to meet you."

The man does not budge at all. "Pleasure's all mine. I'm Demir." He eyes her from head to toe and his hand gracefully rests under his chin. "So you're the one who plans to take the job I want. Only one spot is open and there are three of us."

"I've been made aware of that in the rules of this elimination event sent to me weeks ago."

"You seem easy to take down. Along with Ordal."

Ordal could only look at Demir with wide eyes. But Serena does not show any other emotion. Mirroring Demir, a smirk plays about her lips. "I am easy on the eyes. Only."

Her answer sent excited shivers down Demir's spine. Oh, he is definitely looking forward to going against her now.

To enter the building of the best news broadcasting company is a privilege.

To be considered as the next news anchor of the evening special news is worth a fortune in the sense that one has dedicated most of their years of study to the field of journalism, debates, endless discussions, academic writing, and the like.

One cannot be a news anchor and live a cheap life. No, you have to feel entitled and know you are the best at what you do. You have to look good and feel good because if you don't, your audience on the other side of the screen will doubt your credibility and, eventually, the credibility of the news you are presenting.

Sitting pretty and stating out the cold facts - that is the gist of a good news anchor.

It definitely is a life of fame and grandeur. And you would be considered the perfect hero - a person for the masses.

And the best part is that you don't have to care for the masses for them to like you. The mere fact that you're the chosen person to sit before them to update them on current affairs is enough to be revered.

Demir would definitely benefit from that kind of life and knows he's worthy of it.

What sucks is that there are other people who think the same way about themselves.

Whatever, he thought smugly to himself, at least it won't be boring for me to get to the top.

The news broadcasting company holds a competitive event every five years to find the next news anchor for their evening special news segment. Demir has shed his blood, sweat, and tears to finally be considered as one of the people that is worthy of that spot. He's bested all his classes in university, volunteered, and participated in all activities that could help him create more connections with the news broadcasting industry.

Now there are only two people left that he needs to take down in order to acquire this job. He doesn't even have to worry about the other guy.

It's Serena that's keeping him on his toes, so it's best to throw her off her game.

They've started the competition - from creating news reports to cover up mock blunders on the spot during training to chasing down different locations to see who could arrive there first, and to making sure that they stay updated with the latest events in the country and the world.

Serena storms into their shared dressing room for the morning news segment they were tasked to do one day. "You changed my eyeliner with permanent marker ink?!!" Her face may look a bit haggard since it's around four in the morning, but the black sleek line on her eyelids is still on 'fleek'. It's as if her eye makeup from the night before was never washed off.

And truth be told, she was never able to remove it.

Ordal looked at her with shock and Demir was trying to hide his growing smile at the side of the dressing room. Serena could tell that Demir wanted to laugh at her; his expression could be seen from a mile away. She kept her glare on him. "Demir? Quit trying to stop yourself from laughing and tell me why you did this."

"I didn't do that." He raises his hands to the air in mock surrender. "Why would I do something like that? Why don't you ask Ordal too while you're at it?"

"Because Ordal has done nothing but minded his own business while you've been messing with me since we started this competition!"

"Miss Serena?" A new voice comes from behind her and she turns to find the head producer of the morning news show standing by the doorway. A look of horror replaces Serena's angry expression. "Oh, my goodness. What is on your face? I wanted to check on all of you, and I have a problem with your chosen makeup, Miss Serena," the producer continues, "Do you think it is appropriate to have heavy makeup for a tragic news segment? We're about to announce that a local animal shelter caught on fire and not announce that a new club is on 'fire' with endless partygoers."

"I...I tried washing it off," Serena says in a pathetic voice, as thought by Demir. "It might take me another hour to really wash it off-"

"There won't be any time for that," the producer interjects. "We can't have you in front of the cameras." The producer then faces Demir and Ordal. "You two will be doing it without her. We begin in 10 minutes."

That brought a lot of satisfaction to Demir.

Though, it did not take long for Serena to have her payback.

"Where the hell are my car keys?!" Demir exclaims in growing anger after a month of being with the news broadcasting company. Their task today is to drive to another province in the country to form a narrative of a certain tribe in the mountainous area of that specific province.

Ordal's head pops up from the cubicle divider and looks at his colleague with a worried expression. "You okay there, Demir?"

"No, Clearly I'm not," Demir huffs and continues to rummage through his briefcase, desk, and shelves.

"We can drive to the location together-"

"What part of 'this is a competition' do you not understand?" Demir's phone suddenly rings with a new message and he takes a moment to fish it out of his pocket to read the message.

Looks like you and Ordal were unable to receive the news earlyyyy, the message said. Under it is a selfie taken by Serena with the tribespeople smiling at the camera behind her. It's not that which makes Demir frustrated.

On Serena's other hand, she is holding a set of keys with her. Demir instantly knows who owns those keys. Hanging on the chain is not only the key to his car but also the keys to his house.

"How in hell?!" Demir spits out and slams his phone on the desk. He runs his fingers through his hair and tugs on its ends. He grabs his phone to take another look at the picture before slamming it again on his desk. "And damn her for that great angle in the picture!"

Another message then pops up. This is what you get for starting something that could have been avoided.

Their rivalry continues without even paying heed to their third competitor, Ordal. Both found him too slow to keep up with them.

But Demir is positive that he has the upper hand. He has been sucking it up with their supervisors and he has been setting a great example of a hardworking and driven employee the company would need. He just needs to focus on the last four weeks of this competition and he knows that he'll eventually be chosen for the job.

During one particular day when the three competitors spent the whole time visiting different places around the region, it took a lot of hours of driving and a lot of gas. They went their separate ways and Demir had his trusty car to take him anywhere. Advocates of public transportation would definitely shun him for his unsustainable ways. He can worry about sustainability after he gets the job.

As he drives down the highway, slowly the buildings and endless rows of stores disappear. He's traveling further from the city and into the rural side of the province. It's good that his car has a full tank or else he'll have to worry about finding a gas station somewhere.

While Demir drives and listens to the radio playing some songs from the 90s, he enjoys the vast and empty road ahead of him. Sometimes he can think of other stuff as he drives with a relaxed feel. He doesn't have to worry about traffic or whatever stuff he has to do once he gets back to the company. He has to visit one last place and then he's done for the day.

He's got around 20 kilometers left before he reaches his destination. He's near and ready to get the latest scoop he could find in the last area he's visiting.

Up ahead, he begins to spot a car from the distance. As he nears it, he realizes that it's not moving and it's just at the side of the road.

If it were any car, he would have driven past it and minded his own business. But there is this gnawing feeling at the back of his head that is trying to pinpoint why that car looks so familiar to him.

It's the same model that he would see parked at the company. He knows the plate number; he's seen it around the parking lot. And there is a maroon sticker on the back window of the car, the logo of one of the best universities in the country. Yup, this car is definitely from someone in the company.

Demir purposefully decelerates his car, curiosity getting the best of him. And as he pulls over to the side, it is only then that he notices someone bending before the right rear tire. When the person gets up to their feet, Demir couldn't keep himself rooted in his seat. He places his car in park and gets out of the car instantly. "That's your car?" He says, not making an effort to hide his apparent shock.

The person turns and lets out an audible groan. "Oh, God. Why does it have to be you?" They wipe the sweat from their face but not the clear frown that has formed

"Come on, Serena, we're headed to the same place. There was a chance that we were going to see each other."

Yup, the other person is Serena in a not-so-neat and dirty pantsuit. Patches of dirt and mud are visible on her pants and her hair is not fixed in the usual sleek bun. She rolls her eyes at him. "My car decided to act up today out of all days, so cut the crap and mock me. Go ahead."

To tease her, Demir takes a look at his wristwatch and comments nonchalantly, "It's not yet time to mock you. I scheduled it for a later part in the day."

"Ha ha," Serena laughs dryly. "Really funny."

"But I'm serious though. Come on, get in my car. I'll be a nice person to you...only for the day."

He sees her purse her lips in deep thought. Of course, she's going to take my offer. What does she expect to do? Walk to our designated location?

Still, in Serena's silence, Demir continues, "Serena, I'm not going to leave until you get inside my car's front door. And, between us, we wouldn't want Ordal to reach the address before us."

His last statement causes Serena's gaze to harden with determination. Without any hesitation, she looks at him and says, "Let me grab my bag and an extra set of clothes."

As she walks heads back to her car, Demir whispers to himself in mild disbelief, "Extra set of clothes? Damn, that woman's ready for anything...except for her car suddenly breaking down in the middle of nowhere."

Hence, after a few minutes, they are now back on the road.

"This is just a one-time thing, okay?" Serena utters, her eyes stuck on the passing landscape as Demir drives fast.

The man scoffs, "You're talking as if we're about to head behind closed doors."

Serena groans. "Not like that!"

Demir laughs. "Just wanted to mess with you."

"That's what you always do. You never gave me a break and honestly, it's so...so damn tiring."

In an instant, a certain tense feeling arises between them. Demir becomes conscious of every little action he makes like moving the steering wheel or blinking his eyes. The way Serena said those words was so genuine and he knows she means business.

"Don't you like it? The competition?"

Serena sighs. She doesn't answer his question. "Do you know how much I feel on edge around you? Competition's great, yeah, but God, do you always have to shove it in my face that we have to play by street rules every single time?"

"...Are you caving in?"

"Absolutely not," she replies sharply. "Just exhausted of your foolish antics."

A small yet devious smile begins to form on Demir's face when an ingenious thought comes to mind. "I know how your feeling of exhaustion could stop."

"Oh, yeah? I give you permission to enlighten me," Serena gives a sarcastic remark.

"It's simple - we team up."

For the first time in the car ride, Serena turns her head to throw an incredulous glance at him. "You and I? Team up?"

"Think about it. You're smart and diabolical just like me. If we present ourselves to the company as a pair that could not be separated, they'll cave in and give both of us a position in the company. I've seen the way you work and I would have to say that you are a great challenge - the best one yet. All we have to do is take down Ordal and show our shared prowess to the company."

"You're crazy," she breathes out. Even if she voices out her reluctance, Demir's sure that the gears are turning in her head. The offer he is giving is absurd...but it will work to their advantage. He'll have to work with her, but he'd rather have her as a colleague than someone else.

"I know I'm crazy." He throws her a knowing side glance. "But I know you can be, too. I know you're thinking of the offer."

"...Your head's way too up your ass."

"At least I can still think brilliantly despite it."

"And at least...," Serena adds, "with your proposition, we'll both be unstoppable."

Demir's smile grows wider. "I like where you're going with this. Eventually, even the company will bow to our every whim."

"I would love to witness that." There was a rising sound of excitement in Serena's voice.

"I have a very positive feeling that you're going to accept my offer."

"Oh, I am way beyond the stage of acceptance. Stop wasting our time and let's begin strategizing everything now."
