~Chapter 28~
Young Min honked twice as Ji Hu stepped out. Ji Hu got into the car, and Young Min asked him while driving, "So, are you ready for your STB blast on concert day?" Ji Hu nodded with a smile. Young Min wanted to spark a conversation with Ji Hu to indirectly learn what he had been discussing with the others. She asked, "So, what news about Jeon? I heard about the couple announcement that Jessica and Jeon are together. Is it true?"
Ji Hu nodded again without saying much.
Young Min tried several times to engage him in conversation, but it wasn’t working; he seemed unwilling to talk. His thoughts were consumed by Jessica and the situation with her. With no other option, Young Min continued driving in silence, realizing that Ji Hu preferred not to converse with her. One day passed in the blink of an eye.
The next day arrived quickly, and it was time for everyone to do their rehearsals at Seoul Arena. Jessica, Eun Rii, and Jeon were already at the arena, waiting for Ji Hu to join them. As Jeon tied his shoelace, he said, "I hope Ji Hu doesn't have to trouble himself around that creepy Young Min!" Jessica and Eun Rii exchanged glances and giggled, repeating, "Creepy Young Min!" Soon, Ji Hu and Young Min arrived at the arena. Ji Hu's sulky face brightened when he saw Jessica. As he approached the group, Jeon asked, "Dull!? Young Min?" Ji Hu nodded, and Jeon shook his head, indicating he couldn't tolerate this anymore. However, the boys and girls had to part ways to return to their respective teams for rehearsal for the next day's concert.
While the announcers made their announcements, the next team, who were set to perform after the current act, practiced behind the stage. Their costumes had just been issued before the rehearsal began, so they performed the dance while wearing them.
Everything was going smoothly until Young Min approached the announcer after the rehearsals were over and said, "Don’t ask me anything, just add my name at the end of the announcing book for a special announcement. I’m going to make the special announcement."
The announcer replied, "Sorry, we can't add or remove anything without Mr. Kim's permission."
Young Min thought for a moment and then exclaimed, "I don't know whether it's already added; I just asked you to recheck. Mr. Kim asked me to remind you to verify my event since it was added at the end."
"But still... Fine, I'll check it later. Now I have some work to do with the musicians." The announcer placed the announcing book on the mic stand and walked away.
Young Min saw it as the right moment and called Soo Ha. Shortly after, Soo Ha joined Young Min with a printed sheet of paper. They quickly replaced it with the last paper in the announcing book, giggling as they did so. Later, when they met in the washroom, they burst into laughter.
Soo Ha said, "What a plan we made! I knew the announcers wouldn't do it easily, which is why I asked you to grab her phone and send the PDF to me so I could edit the last page and print it. And just as planned, you replaced it! Nobody will doubt us; your announcement plan will go smoothly!"
Young Min continued, "Yes! Just as we planned, I asked if I could use her phone to call you because you weren't here yet, but the truth was you were hiding in the washroom waiting for the PDF. I forwarded it as soon as she handed me her phone! What a plan!" They laughed together.
Soo Ha added, "It's good to have a part two ready before executing any part one." Young Min nodded and said, "For the first time, my plot has worked out. All thanks to our teamwork—without you, I couldn't have achieved any of this! Now my whole plan is almost complete. The only thing left is to execute it tomorrow at the concert! Tomorrow will mark the end of this plan and the beginning of my master plan! Ji Hu is only mine!" Soo Ha chimed in, "And Jeon is only mine!" After that, Soo Ha and Young Min parted ways in the washroom.
It was almost 8 PM when all the participants and bands who had come for the rehearsals exited the Seoul Arena. Jeon and the girls stepped out and waited in a corner for Ji Hu to arrive so they could talk to him one last time before going their separate ways. Jessica couldn't wait to meet Ji Hu and was very impatient.
As Young Min and Ji Hu walked through the corridor, they spotted the three waiting. Young Min felt a surge of anger at the sight of Jessica. In a rush, she grabbed Ji Hu's arm, entwining it as couples do, to show Jessica that they were together and would soon be marrying. Ji Hu felt uneasy with Young Min clinging to him and couldn't think of a way to shake her off. As they approached the group, Jessica noticed their intertwined hands.
Jessica’s excited expression quickly faded, her bright smile vanishing. Jeon asked Ji Hu how his rehearsals had gone that day, but Young Min jumped in and spoke before Ji Hu could respond, claiming that he was really happy with her. Ji Hu glanced at Jessica and saw her face turning as red as a tomato. He chuckled at her glare but quickly became serious, thinking she might not tolerate Young Min's actions anymore. He gently pulled his hand away from Young Min's grasp and handed her the car key, asking her to retrieve the car from the parking lot.
Young Min realized that Ji Hu was trying to gently push her away to avoid making Jessica jealous, as she didn’t want to create unnecessary drama. Annoyed and with no other options, she decided to go get the car.
Once she left, Ji Hu burst into laughter, playfully hitting Jeon. Confused, Jeon stared at him and asked, "Bro, what are you doing? Why are you hitting me?" Ji Hu could barely contain his laughter and eventually explained how Jessica's face had turned bright red with anger. After a moment of fun, he hugged Jessica, patting her back gently. "Don’t worry; we’ll quickly get rid of her, and we can spend time together freely. It's just a matter of a few days! Just be patient." He pulled back to check her face, noticing she still looked upset. "Now smile, my princess!" Jessica finally smiled.
Meanwhile, in the parking lot, Young Min was scolding herself, muttering under her breath. Passersby thought she seemed mad or crazy and ignored her, except for one person—Soo Ha. As Young Min located the car and opened the door, Soo Ha rushed over and said, "Yoongi-ya! What are you doing? Everyone's watching!"
"What else am I supposed to do?!" Young Min replied, sharing everything that had happened and how Ji Hu had pushed her away to prevent jealousy. "I can't take it anymore! Even though Ji Hu is in my control, it feels like things are slipping away! He chased me off—me! Just for her!"
Soo Ha reassured her, "Don’t worry; it’s just a matter of a few days. After that, it’s do or die!" She hugged Young Min, trying to comfort her. Meanwhile, a distance away, Eun Rii, Jeon, Jessica, and Ji Hu were walking into the parking lot. When Eun Rii caught sight of the two girls hugging, she said, "What’s going on between those two? Something feels off! Ji Hu shouldn’t let her be alone!" Ji Hu responded, "Ah, don’t worry about her, chingu! Just chill! Soon it’ll be do or die!"
As they approached Jeon’s car, Ji Hu quickly pecked Jessica on the cheek, wishing her goodnight and goodbye before Young Min could see them together. He hurried over to Soo Ha and Young Min, while Eun Rii, Jeon, and Jessica drove away.
While Young Min and Soo Ha were still hugging, Ji Hu waited for a moment. When he could no longer hold his patience, he cleared his throat. "Ahem... ahem..." Soo Ha realized Ji Hu was behind them, pulled back from the hug, and stepped aside, leaving the two alone. Ji Hu asked Young Min to drive the car because he felt tired and sleepy. Young Min nodded silently, still angry at him and blaming Jessica in her mind. Soon, they drove home.
It wasn't long before the sun rose, heralding a grand day ahead. This day was significant for Jessica and Jeon, marking a major milestone in their dreams. They had almost reached the first stage of success, and everyone awoke with hope and anticipation. Jessica and Jeon were fully prepared, with only the journey to Seoul Arena left.
Upon arriving at Seoul Arena, the lighting and decorations were stunning, captivating everyone present. The arena was packed with fans holding light sticks, and the stage was already alive with booming music. The announcers were dressed to impress, looking beautiful and attractive. The show’s theme was black and gold, but that didn't dictate what the performers would wear; it was solely for the announcers and stage decor. Jessica and Jeon were thrilled by the grandeur of Seoul Arena.
They made their way backstage, where dressing rooms and makeup stations buzzed with activity. Jessica noticed numerous people in black uniforms, including police officers assigned for the idols' protection. The backstage area was bustling with makeup artists, musicians, stage light controllers, bodyguards, and all the members of the HYBE teams.
Taking a deep breath, Jessica savored the atmosphere of music and dance. She entered the backstage area with Eun Rii, feeling a bit uncertain about what to do. Meanwhile, Jeon wished them luck before heading to join his bandmates. As Jessica looked around, unsure of her next steps, a makeup artist approached her.
"Are you a member of the Sweetcandy team?" she asked.
Jessica nodded, bowing in greeting. The makeup artist continued, "I'm the head makeup artist for your team. My crew is waiting for you in the dress-up room. Go there," she said, pointing to a door labeled "Dress Up Room 4."
Jessica thanked the artist with another bow and rushed to the dress-up room with Eun Rii. Inside, one of the artists greeted them. "Hello, Ms. Jessica! I’m your makeup artist, and your artist is over there," she said, pointing to Eun Rii's makeup artist.
Jessica was instructed to change in the fitting room and to sit in front of the mirror. She followed the instructions, and without delay, the artist began applying makeup, skillfully using her brushes to enhance Jessica's features.
