"You dumb shank." (Requested)

"Hey! Kiah!" She turns towards the voice, searching for the matching face.

A shy smile crosses her lips as Newt jogs up beside her. "Hello, love."

Her heart flutters, as always, at the endearing name. "Hello, Newt."

He grins, gently pressing an elbow into her ribs and pushing playfully. Kiah wraps her fingers around his shoulder and shoves. He yelps in surprise, falling over. Moments before he hits the ground, he snags her hand, and she tumbles on top of him. They lay on the ground, giggling and staring up at the clouds.

After a moment of silence, she turns to look at him. "Did you need something?"

"No, just wanted to hang out with my best friend!" He smiles at her, poking her in the arm.

She can't hide the smile that creeps onto her face. "Aww, you're sweet."

"I know", he winks, sending the butterflies in another frenzy.

He leans closer, and she sees a spattering of freckles across his nose. Minho and Thomas, sweating profusely, choose that exact moment to come back from the Maze.

"Hey! Kiah! Newt! What's up!" Thomas exclaims, breathing heavily.

She nearly jumps out of her own skin at the sudden noise. Both Newt and Kiah jerk away, scrambling to their feet.

"Oh, were we interrupting something...?" Minho glances between the two of them, his trademark smirk resting comfortably on his lips.

"No-"

"-nothing at all-"

"-We were just-"

"-yeah, we were just sitting-"

"-and talking."

They both quickly shut their mouths and try not to cringe at their awkward and suspicious exchange.

Minho and Thomas both raise their eyebrows at them, looking extremely unconvinced. "Right..."

"Well, I've gotta go get some tomatoes for dinner", Kiah pipes, already leaving for the garden.

Newt scratches his neck awkwardly, "Okay." He faces Minho and Thomas again, nearly glaring. "Don't you two have mapping to do or something?"

They stifle their laughter and share a knowing look before nodding and walking to the Runner's room.

Newt sighs, running his fingers through his hair and stalks to the kitchen to find a seat. He spies Kiah in the gardens, as promised, picking tomatoes for dinner. A curvy figure blocks his sight, sitting in front of him.

"Hey!" Teresa says, placing her hands in front of her on the table. "What's up?"

"Nothing, just..." he trails off, unable to think of an excuse.

"...just? Just what?" She asks nosily.

When Newt doesn't respond, her face lights up in understanding.

"Aha! I knew it!" She exclaims, grinning and wiggling slightly with excitement.

"Knew what??" Newt jerks his head up.

Teresa wiggles her eyebrows. "That you liked Kiah..."

His face flushes. "I don't know what you're talking about."

"Oh shush I already know, you don't have to hide it from me", she says with an eye roll.

His face flushes an even darker shade of pink.

"And your pink little cheeks certainly don't help either", she teases, poking him.

"Oh, bug off" Newt huffs grumpily.

Teresa just laughs. "So what are you going to do?"

"About what?"

"About Kiah!" She exclaims with another eye roll.

"SHUSH!" Newt lunges over the table, covering her mouth with his hand and nearly knocking her water over in the process.

"What's going on?" A hurt sounding voice asks from behind Teresa.

"Kiah!" Newt yells a little too loud. "We were just talking."

He sits back in his seat and Teresa huffs indignantly. Kiah glances at Teresa's irritated expression and back to Newt. "Okay..."

"I've gotta go", Newt suddenly says, standing.

"Wait, Newt!"

"I'll talk to you later", he walks away quickly to the Deadheads, his limp prominent as ever.

Kiah sits down across from Teresa, a hurt expression on her face.

"What's wrong?" Teresa asks, placing her hand gently on Kiah's.

"I finally had the courage to do it and then...well, nevermind, it doesn't matter."

"You were going to tell Newt you liked him?" Teresa asks, somehow knowing.

Kiah looks up, blinking.

"Yeah..." she says incredulously. "How'd you know?"

"I know everything", Teresa says, a mysterious grin adorning her lips. "Anyhow, why didn't you tell him?"

"I chickened out last second and then he just left...kind of missed my chance."

"No you didn't. Go after him."

"What?"

"Go after him you shuckface", Teresa sighs impatiently. "He likes you too."

"He what?"

"God, is everyone deaf here? I said he likes you. Go after him."

Kiah stands quickly, almost knocking over the table and sprints to the Deadheads where Newt disappeared to.

As she reaches the edge of the forest, the boy reappears, staring at the ground while he walks. A look of concentration and worry is etched on his handsome face.

"What's wrong Newt?"

The boy jumps. He places a hand on his heart, "Oh, Kiah, it's just you. You scared me. And nothing is wrong, I'm fine."

"Nothings wrong? Then why did you run from the table and refuse to talk to me?"

He gulps nervously.

"Because I bloody like you. And I wasn't sure but then Teresa said it and it made since; something clicked in me. I like you Kiah. As more than just best friends."

He sighs in relief, as if he'd been bearing that knowledge for a long time.

Kiah stands there, heart beating, unsure of how to respond. Shock envelops her in its icy grasp, despite the heat of the glade.

"Well?" Newt says, shifting his weight. "Do you bloody like me too?"

Kiah stands in silence for another second, then runs forward the few feet separating them and presses his lips against his.

Immediately, he kisses back. Their lips clash in red harmony. Nothing had ever felt so right to Kiah, and Newt knew, even without his memories, that he had never loved someone so much before.

When they finally pulled apart, gasping for breath, Newt whispers, "I love you so much, Kiah. Be my girlfriend? Please?"

"Of course you dumb shank."
