Chapter 2: The Glade

Sorry if any of the lines in these books aren't exactly like the movies, I'm just goin off my memory (which Is pretty accurate to the movie) cuz I don't want it to be exactly word for word cuz that'd be kind of boring.

I also am gonna call Thomas the greenie till hey find out his name cuz it's easier than saying "the boy" 😂.

3rd Person POV

The boy's eyes began adjusting, and soon he saw many faces looking down at him.

They all were boys and there were about 50 of them, all looking down into the box that he was in.

One guy helped open it up, then he hopped into the box in front of the boy. This guy had very short cut hair that was a dirty blonde color. He also had lots of freckles, grayish eyes and odd eyebrows. He also looked very strong, well built.

"Day one greenie, rise and shine." He said before dragging the boy out of the box. Eyebrows boy (I didn't know how else to address him...) pushed the "greenie" out of the box, which just led to the greenie crawling out onto the ground, looking up at all of the boys who were grinning and laughing at him.

The greenie became overwhelmed and soon shot up to his feet and started running.

"Hey, we got a runner!!" He heard a voice yell behind him.

He ran as fast as he could until he tripped, falling to the ground with a thud. He heard the laughs erupt from the group of boys as he slowly stood up.

He then looked around at this new, mysterious place. It was a huge, square shaped place, four large stone walls surrounding it. Each wall was at least 50 feet tall, ivy growing down and adding a nice green to the gray walls. Each wall also had an opening in the exact center of each one - like a 15-20 wife feet slit in each one.

The greenie turned around, taking it all in, just until two strong looking boys came and dragged him away.

The greenie now found himself sitting in a small jail-like pit. He waited for only about  30 seconds before he saw a new face come to the small door.  "Hey"

The guy knelt down in front of the door, looking at the greenie. This guy had no hair, brown eyes, and dark skin.

"Hey there greenbean." He spoke with an soft toned voice.

Greenbean? First greenie, now greenbean?

"You're not gonna run again." He said, then opening up the door and kneeling in the door way, looking down to the silent greenie.

"My name is Alby." He said with a small smile, "now can you tell me anything about yourself, like who you are or where you came from?" Alby asked.

The greenie tried, he really tried but he couldn't.

He felt the urge to cry, looking down and shaking his head. He managed to squeeze out a small "no".

"Can you tell me your name?"

He tried again, but he couldn't remember.

"I can't remember anything. Why can't I temper anything?" The greenie said with a panicked tone.

"Hey, relax. That's normal, it happens to us all. You'll get your name back in a day or two, that's the one thing they let us keep." Alby explained.

The greenie looked up slowly at Alby, "What is this place?" He asked, desperate for answers of the millions of questions running through his head.

Alby stuck a hand out, "Let me show you."

Alby has helped the greenie out and began with showing him around a bit.

"We eat here, sleep here, we grow our own food and build our own shelters. Whatever we need, the box provides. The rest is up to us." Alby explained as they walked around a bit.

"The box?" The greenie said, looking toward the lift he had been in jot even an hour ago.

"Once a month it's sent up with fresh supplies and a new greenie, this month that's you." Alby told the greenie, "congratulations."

"Sent up? By who though, who put us here?"

"That we don't know." Alby told the greenie, who then looked at Alby, kind of frustrated that they knew almost nothing like he did. He just wanted answers!

A voice broke the silence.
"Ey, you Alright Alby?" An accented voice came. The owner of said voice walked up to Alby, smiling a very nice smile.

He was tall, about as tall as the greenie, and very thin.  He had some muscles of his arms, pale skin, blonde hair and chocolate brown eyes as well.

The greenie thought that this boy seemed pretty nice, and he was a fairly good looking boy, no offense to the others he had seen so far.

Alby chuckled, "Greenbean, meet Newt."

Newt turned to the greenie and shook his hand, "Hi" He said.

"When I'm not around, he's in charge." Alby said, Newt looking toward Alby.

"Well its a good thing you're always around then." He said, looking back to the greenie, "listen, that was some dash you made earlier. For a second I thought you had the chops to be a runner, till you face planted." Newt said, making Alby laugh, "That's great." Newt added.

There was another word that the greenie didn't understand. What was a runner? Was it literally just a guy who runs??

"Wait, a runner?" He asked, the other two just looking at him for a second before Alby spoke: "Newt, do me a favor. Go find Chuck?"

Newt gave a small nod before giving the greenie one last look and walking off behind them. The greenie looked back at Newt as he looked for "Chuck". He thought Newt was pretty cool, he seemed funny and fairly nice which was good. But so was Alby, so why did Newt seem to intrigue him more? He had no clue. Maybe they had known each other before all of this.

Alby soon pulled him out of his thoughts, "Sorry to cut this short, you came up a little late and we have a lot to do.  We've got something special planned for tonight." Alby said, smiling to himself when he saw the greenie look back at Newt again. He then pulled the greenie with him by the shoulder, "You'll see later."

They walked a short distance, arriving at a structure that reminded him of a tree house, just a bigger one.

Alby walked to the ladder, "I hope you're not afraid of heights." Alby said before climbing the ladder.

Frankly, the greenie hoped that he wasn't afraid of heights either.

Oh my gosh this chapter was literally 1111 words 😂 make a wish?
