Chapter Seven: Unexpected Encounter

"Yu?" a voice called over the voice.

"Yes?" Mt. Lady was nervous. She wasn't supposed to be in contact with this person anymore.

"We need to meet up. I recently heard some things from an old colleague, and well..." the male on the other line went quiet, "there's been an issue."

"What kind of issue?" Mt. Lady asked.

"The kind of issue we can't talk about over the phone, Yu," the male sighed, "meet me at Maehara's bar at eight. Dress in civilian clothing."

"Fine, but this better be good," Mt. Lady agreed reluctantly.

"Ah, Yu, over here!" the man smiled brightly, catching the female hero's attention.

"Oh, hey," Mt. Lady returned the smile reluctantly, trying to keep a good cover.

"I'm glad you could make it," the man breathed out, "what do you want to drink?"

"Would your wife approve of you secretly going out for drinks with me?" she teased.

"Not out of context, but I'm loyal," he responded, "I'm far too old have any desire for the drama that comes with cheating."

"I suppose that makes two of us," Mt. Lady was starting to let loose.

Maybe what they had met up about wasn't that bad. She'd gotten rid of the equipment having to do with past experiments, and project REMIX had been abandoned several years ago. Of course, NEITO was still active, but after checking the feedback equipment connected to his M.a.C. when she visited the old lab to officially close it down (and shut everything off), she came to the conclusion that he was faulty and would do no harm.

She had every reason to believe that this was just a meeting. They hadn't seen each other since they'd almost been caught—in fact, the two of them hadn't had any contact at all. Perhaps he just missed her company, which made sense. She actually missed him too. They had been such big parts of each others' lives before, so it . made sense that suddenly going without it might be hard.

"Anyway, how have you been these past several years?" the man asked.

"I've been doing good," Mt. Lady hushed her voice, "I've gone completely unnoticed. No one suspects that I even think about The Scientist."

The man also whispered, "It's been the same for me. My wife and kids don't suspect a thing, and of course, my parents are long gone. With me being an only child, that rids me of the family trouble."

"Smart, I applaud you," Mt. Lady smiled again, more genuinely.

"Now, of course, I called you here for a reason," the man's voice became slightly upset.

"I was dreading you getting to that," Mt. Lady sighed, "is it bad?"

"Unfortunately..." the man trailed off, "maybe we should do this in my car after we get a drink. This isn't an easy topic to just whisper about over a table in public."

"Oh, it must be pretty bad then, huh?" Mt. Lady rubbed the back of her neck.

"So, what is it?" Mt. Lady asked.

The man she had met with handed her some photos of a teenage boy. He was wearing a U.A. uniform and seemed to be interacting with the kids in 1-A. Yu stared at the photo's, trying to come up with an explanation as to why she was being shown pictures of some random kid. She couldn't have been in denial, she'd never seen this kid, she was sure. He didn't look like her old NEITO, and (Y/n) had literally been buried where no one should find him.

"Come on, Yu," the man sighed, "that's (Y/n)."

Mt. Lady went silent for a moment before speaking. "Excuse me—what?"

"Someone at the asylum must have found out something and called authorities, a friend of mine, Shota Aizawa was telling me how he and Hizashi went to pick the kid up," the man foretold, "(Y/n)'s free, mobile, and a ticking time bomb — on too many accounts."

"Shit," Mt. Lady cursed, quickly composing herself, "well... this isn't good, but it isn't something I needed to know this second. We don't have any rights over him anymore, remember?"

"Of course, but you needed to know now because he goes to school with the old NEITO. We both know what issues can be caused after their in such close confines for so long," the man sighed.

"Yeah, but unless someone manages to find the M.a.C.s in them, they can't tie anything to us," Mt. Lady said, "besides— even if they find out they're connected to The Scientist, they won't figure us out."

"Yu, that's not what I'm concerned about," the man scratched his cheek, "I'm concerned about that old project you abandoned, U.D.S."

"U.D.S.?" Mt. Lady almost chuckled, "I scrapped that plan back when I was actually twenty-three."

"Yu," the man said in an unimpressed tone, "you know why I'm pressing this."

"Look, we've been inactive for such a long time," Mt. Lady reasoned, "we both know that the chances of something penetrating his heart are small."

"They were small," the man corrected, "now that he's training to become a hero in U.A.'s most troublesome class, though..."

"I get it," Mt. Lady sighed and opened the car door to her left, "we just have to stay out of trouble and hope for the best at this point; in the end, we can't do anything now. (Y/n) isn't in our possession, we don't have a way to control him anymore."

Mt. Lady was sitting calmly in her apartment when an emergency alarm went off on her phone. She jumped up and grasped her phone, glazing over the message on the screen. She had heard many things about this person being an issue, but she'd never taken the time to put two and two together.

One of the members of the infamous villain group, Mayhem, was attacking. She quickly changed into her hero costume, hurrying across the city. When she finally arrived, she was shocked. So much for totally laying low, she thought. There, directly in front of her was the monster she created. Nearly unstoppable quirk and everything was (Y/n), destroying everything around him without breaking a sweat. Kamui Woods quickly joined her side, informing her of how this particular mess had begun.

"Apparently he just allowed himself to fall from one of these buildings," Kamui Woods sighed, already starting to advance into the fight, "the kid's gotta be insane or something..."

Mt. Lady wordlessly agreed, not wanting to seem out of place. She watched for a moment as Kamui Woods rushed in, and was just as quickly passed off. She went in next, allowing herself to just be totaled by one of (Y/n)'s screams.

This went on for a while before others showed up. Soon enough, the rest of Mayhem was head-first in the conflict. This was the first time in a long while that she had felt true uneasiness. This is what she wanted, right? Something strong to do what she can't do personally... She did it, her results were right in front of her, and yet– she knew he shouldn't exist. Everything she'd put in him made him something not-quite-human — a monster. The worst part, though, was that the only way to end it all...

...was to destroy everything.
