Chapter Seven: Natsuo (pt.1)

I wonder what I should do for her this year...

Natsuo Fujikawa was a simple man nowadays. He'd had his fun as a young kid, and now he lived an "average joe"-esk day-to-day life. He worked, went out with friends, went on a date every once in a while — the works, more or less. The most exciting thing about his like were the things (or people) that weren't there to excite him.

She's had the hardest time coping with all of this... what could distract her?

His sister, Fuyumi Nakada's birthday was just around the corner. He had two and a half weeks to get something nice done for his sister. He could think of one or two possibilities, but nothing too special. Perhaps just treating her to a nice, relaxation-filled day was a quality option? There was also the amusement park they liked when they were children, but the lines were always insanely long.

Maybe take her on a surprise vacation? Being in the area never fails to remind her of our parents' faults.

That last idea was expensive. He didn't mind spending the money on his dear older sister, but booking all of it would be hard, considering Natsuo didn't know her schedule all that well. He suddenly had what he thought was a perfect idea. He remembered Fuyumi mentioning a certain thing the last few times they talked, and he hated that he thought of it sooner.

I'll get her a kitten! I'm a genius!

"I'm the only one of your children who still bears your name! Everyone else got theirs changed!"

"So, is it too soon to ask what's up?" Dabi piped up as he and Todoroki lazed around his apartment. "it's been a while since you last stopped in, especially since you guys left the League."

Todoroki didn't give an immediate answer, and that left Dabi slightly concerned. Normally Todoroki was straight to the point, but he was holding back this time around. It had been a while since they'd seen each other, but Dabi doubted that his younger brother had changed that much in their time apart.

Todoroki thought about his response for a moment. He didn't know how to put his current predicament into words, which was somewhat of a first. He turned towards the older male, sighing and facing away from him again.

"If someone's hurt you more than once... unintentionally," Todoroki started, testing out the waters of his words, "but this time it's worse than before... is your relationship toxic?"

"That's quite the hypothetical you've got there," Dabi pointed out playfully, "but I'm not totally sure, honestly. How much worse?"

"A lot worse."

"Is this about Kirishima and Bakugou?"

"What?"

"Toga ran into Kirishima a while back. She said that he said that they were having problems."

Todoroki grumbled, "You shouldn't believe Toga when she hasn't seen it herself. You know she likes to bend the truth. But yeah, they had a little scuffle. They're fine now, though."

"Then it actually is about you?"

"Yeah."

Todoroki straightened up from where he was slouching in his seat, stretching and hearing the satisfying cracks of his back. Dabi readjusted himself, but remained comfortable. He frowned when he saw how Todoroki's eyes seemed to go dark.

"Everything is a mess," Todoroki stated, "(Y/n) and I have been together since the day he left the League, and I feel like there's almost been more hurt than happiness. It doesn't help that Fuyumi's birthday is coming up and I haven't seen her, Natsuo, or mom since dropping out of high school."

"I can't return the sentiment about mom, but... I get what you about Natsu and Yumi," Dabi admitted, "as for (Y/n)... can you elaborate?"

"He left, Touya. That night when All For One freaked out, he left." Todoroki didn't like how he was becoming choked up a little. "He didn't say anything. He abandoned me for months, then gave the half-assed excuse that he wanted to give me another chance at life." Dabi couldn't tell if he was distressed or furious. "And I accepted it! I let it pass, Touya, I let it go!" Todoroki gripped his wrist tightly, digging his nails into his pale skin. "I'm a wanted criminal! How was I going to ever have another shot?"

"...Wow." Dabi could see he wasn't done. "keep going. You obviously haven't talked about this."

"I believed it... and now, once again, absolutely everything's gone to hell," Todoroki muttered, "he separates himself from me at night. Then he stopped starting the coffee for me. Now he doesn't even turn in with me anymore... and he called me 'Shouto' yesterday. He's only called me 'Shou' since Mayhem got back together and he used to do all those things. Everything has gone to shit, Touya, and I can't handle it anymore."

"Are you sure that this is a good idea?" Todoroki asked, "what if this isn't the right place?"

Dabi and Todoroki stood in one of many hallways in a decent apartment building. After taking in his younger brother's words for a couple of days, he decided that he knew what might cheer him (and to be honest, Dabi as well) up.

"I'm sure, and besides," Dabi exhaled semi-loudly, turning to face Todoroki, "I think we, and by we I mean you, could definitely use some sort of closure."

This is a good place to start.

Dabi knocked, and when he heard the voice that answered from inside, he knew he'd made a good choice. He was starting to become anxious as he waited for the door to open. The false raven placed his hands in his pockets in the hopes that he wouldn't play with them.

Todoroki thought he was going to have a heart attack when he saw the doorknob start to move. He still had time to bolt down the hall, didn't he?

This is good for you, Shouto; this is good for all of you.

"Hey! Sorry for the wait, let me get the money-" Natsuo pulled out his wallet to get some money, but stopped when he looked at the people before him. He froze. They looked so different now. He's covered in piercings and so much of him is burnt... they've gotten rid of their red, too.

"Of course you'd be the person who doesn't check who's at the door before opening it," Dabi sighed, "and who were you intending to pay? As honored as I am, I actually don't swing that way."

"Touya?" Natsuo muttered, "Shouto... what happened to you guys?"

"Shit happened," Dabi answered, "but we're trying to kinda fix some of it, you know? Anyway, what's up with you?"

Natsuo tugged them both inside. He was still slightly in shock, but this was better than that stupid pizza he had ordered, anyway.

(What did you all think of the chapter? I plan to make this update kind of focus more on Todoroki than (Y/n). I hope you don't mind! I mean, this whole arc is supposed to be about closure, as the title of it reveals, so I figured it was time to give Todoroki some. Tell me what you think in the comments, and please vote if you enjoyed it!)

(This Was 1283 Words!)

(Extra:)

"Hey, Mina?"

"Hey! What's up?"

"Have you by any chance heard from Shouto?"

"No, why? Is something- what was that?"

"(Y/n) dropped a mug. Shouto walked out a few days ago and hasn't contacted any of us at all. He won't answer calls or texts, either..."

"Oh no... I'll ask Sero and Kaminari."

"Thanks, Mina."

----------

(This is just something I thought of that kinda fits the situation! Not canon to the story, sorry!)

Todoroki: 'It's tearing me apart...'

(Y/n): 'He's slipping away...'

Todoroki: 'Am I just hanging on to all the words he used to say... the pictures on my phone?'

(Y/n): 'He's not coming home...'

Todoroki: "Touya... should I go home?"

Dabi: "Is it worth it?"
