Chapter Twenty-Five
Chapter Twenty-Five
Taeyeon releases a sigh as the group takes off in every direction, “wasn’t this suppose to be a guys-I mean girls night out?” asks Taeyeon while turning to the only person left beside her: Hyoyeon.
“Yeah…but your mood in the car turned everybody off. Just forget about the kiss for the night and have some fun,” answers Hyoyeon while looking around the building. “There must be something you wish to do?”
“Let’s play some games,” states Taeyeon while walking towards the arcade. Hyoyeon nods her head in agreement following her older sister. “Do you have a girlfriend?” asks Taeyeon while looking at her sister, “or a boyfriend? I mean…we don’t really talk about these things, so I’m just-“
“No,” answers Hyoyeon. “I don’t have time to date when you need constant watching.”
“No I don’t,” responds Taeyeon, “I can stay at home if you want to date. I mean I do it now anyways-“
“You’re getting home-schooled. That cuts whatever time you have with Jessica between work and schoolwork down. Plus she has to watch a younger sister and there are days when she has to spend time with Mr. Jung. I’m not going to take that time away from you so I can date,” interrupts Hyoyeon. “Besides I think she finally likes you.”
“Really?!” asks Taeyeon hopefully, “I mean sure there are times when she gets possessive but…”
“The stubborn girl likes you. Everybody can tell.” Taeyeon nods her head as Hyoyeon climbs into one of the seats for a driving game. Taeyeon climbs into the one besides her adjusting the seat and making sure she can reach the pedals.
“Well how do I get a kiss from her then? Both yours and Yuri’s idea were complete fails and-“
“Why can’t she just kiss you?” asks Hyoyeon while selecting a car.
“Yuri says that Tiffany says that Jessica says it’s because she’s more experienced and she doesn’t think it’ll mean anything,” answers Taeyeon while looking through the car selection.
“So what if she’s more experienced?” questions Hyoyeon, “She should kiss you.”
Taeyeon flares her nostrils as the screen begins counting down the start of the race. “I want to kiss her,” she states without taking her eyes off the screen.
“Okay, I’ll help you then.” Taeyeon smiles and takes a quick peek at Hyoyeon. Hyoyeon flashes her a smile before turning back to the race.

“Taeng is a serious party-pooper,” states Sooyoung while meeting up with Yoona at some shooting game.
“She’s upset that she hasn’t gotten her kiss yet from Jessica-unni,” states Yoona while concentrating on killing the ‘bad guys’ on screen. “Plus with Yuri rubbing her tongue action with Tiffany in Taeyeon’s face…” The screen shifts allowing for her to take a look at Sooyoung for a quick second.
“I get it but this is supposed to be our fun time as a group. And she’s bringing the mood down,” responds Sooyoung.
“Leave our short leader alone,” states Yuri while wrapping her arm around Sooyoung’s waist. “She’s just desperate for a little taste of some Jung. Smooth shooting Yoong.”
“I’m the best in the group when we go to the shooting range,” responds Yoona.
“Yuri!” All three girls jump at the outburst before turning and looking to see Krystal standing behind them with a smashed Styrofoam cup. “What do you think-you're cheating on Tiffany?!”
“W-what?” asks Yuri confused. A smile graces both Yoona and Sooyoung’s face as they look at each other.
“Yul,” states Sooyoung while leaning in closer, “who is Tiffany? And why are you cheating on them? I thought I was the only one for you.” She nuzzles her face into Yuri’s neck while trying to contain the laugh that was fighting to escape. Yuri opens and closes her mouth like a fish unsure of how to explain the situation to Krystal who tapping her foot impatiently.
“W-well y-you s-see…” starts Yuri while trying to pry out of Sooyoung’s grip.
“I’m telling Jessica,” states Krystal with a smile. The color in Yuri’s face quickly drains as she watches Krystal disappear. Sooyoung and Yoona burst out laughing as Yuri turns around glaring at them.
“Why’d you do that?”asks Yuri as she turns back to see where Krystal has disappeared to. “Jessica is going to kill me…”
“Not unless we tell Taeyeon she’s here,” states Yoona as she returns to shooting. “I mean then Taeyeon would take Jessica away to get her kiss. And hopefully afterwards Jessica’s mind will only be preoccupied by that and that only.”
“You are so smart,” states Yuri as her glare turns into a smile.
“It must be from all the extra studying she does with Seohyun,” remarks Sooyoung with a grin.
“Really? And what kind of extra studying might that be?” asks Yuri enjoying the fact that it was now Yoona’s turn to be tormented, “have you been taking notes on me and Tiffany?” Yoona turns and looks at Yuri with a disgusted face. “Joking…now let’s go find us a Jung for a desperate midget.” Yoona reluctantly drops the gun and walks off with the two older girls.
“So we just tell Jessica that Taeyeon’s here? Or do we find our almighty vertically challenged leader first and tell her that Jessica is here?” asks Yoona while following behind Yuri through the crowd.
“I say we find Jessica first…I mean telling Taeyeon would get her hopes up and what if Jessica left…”
*****
“Jessica!” shouts Krystal while sliding into her seat. “I just saw Yuri getting all comfortable with another girl and-“
“Yuri’s here?” asks Jessica ignoring the fact that her younger sister was trying to cause some trouble.
“Who’s Yuri?” asks Mr. Jung curiously.
“You stay in your seat,” orders Jessica while standing up. She pulls Krystal up also before dragging her into the crowd to search for the younger girl.
Mr. Jung drums his fingers against the table. His daughter wanted for him to stay. Does that mean that her girl friend is here in this exact same building? His head turns back and forth as her cranes his neck in an attempt to spot out the small heiress. Even though she was his daughter this was important. It needed to be done to ensure her and her sister would live normal peaceful lives. And they wouldn’t be able to unless scumbags like Taeyeon’s father were taken off the streets.
He slides out of his seat spotting Taeyeon playing some racing games. Perfect.
He makes his way over to the video game before standing beside her, “You turned a little late.”
Taeyeon’s eyes widen as she recognizes his voice. She turns and gives him a feeble smile before turning back to the game. Hyoyeon notices her sister’s movement. “Everything okay Tae?”
“Y-yeah,” answers Taeyeon as the game finishes. She climbs out of the seat and slides her hands into her jacket pocket. “I’m not doing it anymore,” states Taeyeon while looking Mr. Jung in the eyes. “I like my family the way it is. It’s not perfect and the things they do are bad but I’m okay with it. And I’m not giving you any more chances of destroying it.”
“We had a deal,” states Mr. Jung. “If you fail to-“
Taeyeon sticks both her hands out, “then arrest me for not cooperating.” Hyoyeon freezes. Did she hear correctly? Was Taeyeon stating to be arrested? “And I want my right to counsel.”
“I’m sorry then,” Mr. Jung digs in his back pocket pulling out his spare handcuffs.
“Whoa,” states Hyoyeon interfering. “Are you even on duty?”
“He’s always on duty.” Hyoyeon looks over her shoulder to see Jessica standing behind them with Krystal. “Didn’t I say leave her alone?”
“I’m doing this for you and your sister,” states Mr. Jung.
“Right. Because this will make for a great story when i have children. I’ll tell them that their grandfather…“
“Children?!” interrupts Taeyeon a little excitedly. Jessica rolls her eyes.
“I was just talking. Don’t take things to serious, we haven’t even kissed yet,” she says ignoring the frown that was evident on Taeyeon’s face. “Why are you like this?” asks Jessica getting frustrated.
“It’s my job. I’m sorry Sooyeon but this needs to be done,” He pushes Hyoyeon a side, “Kim Taeyeon you’re under arrest-“
“Whoa Taeng!” hollers Yuri while pushing her way through the now growing crowd. “What’s going on here?” she asks while watching Mr. Jung place handcuffs on Taeyeon.
“Nothing,” responds Taeyeon as Mr. Jung handcuffs her. “Just call dad, Hyo.” Hyoyeon nods her head as Mr. Jung leads Taeyeon out of the building. Jessica releases a groan.
“I’m sorry,” she mumbles to Hyoyeon. “I-“
“You act like this is the first time Taeyeon’s been arrested,” states Hyoyeon. Jessica looks at the group with a weird expression.
“Yeah we had that same look when Taeyeon told us,” comments Yoona.
“Supposedly the midget got into a fight before she changed schools and the parent of the other child pressed charges,” explains Sooyoung.
Hyoyeon pulls out her phone dialing a number, “We’ve got more than enough for bail unless you father calls her a flight risk since we own places around the world.” Jessica shrugs her shoulders. There were no words to say at the moment. “Put me through to father’s office and now.” The group watches her. “Father…I have bad news…um, Taeyeon’s been-I understand I’m on my way.” She hangs up and looks at Yuri. “We’re headed to the police station.”
*****
“Please Taeyeon, I need this information,” states Mr. Jung while taking a seat across from her.
“I can’t-I mean I don’t want to,” responds Taeyeon.
“You don’t have to listen to Sooyeon.”
“I’m not. This is my choice. I may not agree with the way my family do things but after spending some time with my father, even though he annoys me, I’m deciding against helping you.”
“We had a deal…”
“Mr. Jung do you know that Jessica despises you?” asks Taeyeon changing the subject. Mr. Jung stops drumming his fingers and looks at Taeyeon. “She tells everyone that you died because she doesn’t like the fact that you put this job before everything else. Before her and Krystal. And I know it may not be my place to say anything or to become involved but I think-“
The door open and in walks Mr. Kim along with the family attorney. “Taeyeon lets go,” states Mr. Kim. Taeyeon nods her head and looks at Mr. Jung with sympathetic eyes.
“We make a new deal. You and me…as Mr. Jung a father not a cop,” suggests Taeyeon as she turns and looks at the family attorney. “Do you have some paper and a pen?”
“Yes,” he opens up his briefcase and pulls out a piece of paper and hands her a pen.
“Thank you,” she turns back to Mr. Jung. “You promise to give up this silly case and return to being a father figure for my girlfriend and Krystal,” states Taeyeon while scribbling her words down on the paper, “and I promise that in return when I take over I end everything…and use my family’s name for good. No more illegal business…”
“Isn’t this illegal?” asks Mr. Jung while cocking a brow. “You’re asking for a detective to throw his case a case that he’s been working on for the longest time now. One that the city is depending on…that’s illegal.”
“What can I say,” responds Taeyeon while signing the paper. She turns it around and pushes the paper in his direction, “the family job isn’t so bad…” A smile graces Mr. Kim’s lips as he watches his daughter make a deal with the police officer. “So what did you say?”
“When do you take over?” asks Mr. Jung.
“When my father hands it to me because he believes that I’m ready to run such a business,” answers Taeyeon, “just sign the paper.”
“We are in a police station. I can place you back under arrest for bribing a police officer.” Taeyeon groans; what will it take for this man to sign the paper?
“You made a deal with my daughter without my consent,” states Mr. Kim, “isn’t that illegal?”
Mr. Jung looks at the paper while picking up the pen. “I toss the case out and-“
“And I change the business.” Mr. Jung nods his head and signs the papers. “Now my lawyer signs it, makes a copy and you have one.” Taeyeon stands and gives him a small smile. “It was nice doing business with you Mr. Jung.” She turns and walks out of the small room with her father following.
*****
Jessica looks up from her book to find her father standing in her room, “here to arrest me also?”
“No…I’m here to tell you that I threw out the case,” states Mr. Jung. Jessica blinks her eyes a few times, “I signed a pact with your short girlfriend. In return for me creating more time to spend with my daughters…she’s going to change her business.”
“Isn’t it illegal for you to sign a deal like that?” asks Jessica.
“That’s the nature of her job isn’t it?” He looks around the room as an awkward atmosphere settles amongst them, “Sooyeon…I’m truly sorry for any of the pain that I have caused you over the years.”
“Got it,” states Jessica while looking for her phone. “It was a job wasn’t it? Now that you have more free time to make up for the lousy parenting skills you’ve displayed over the years. And that can start tomorrow. As for right now I have to thank a certain short person.” She slides out of bed and slides on her jacket.
“It’s dark outside. You’re not going to be walking around in the dark are you?” he asks curiously.
“My girlfriend is the daughter of a mob boss. Should I even be worried?” asks Jessica while slipping her feet into her shoes.
“I will drop you off,” states Mr. Jung while following Jessica down the stairs to the living room.
“Alright.”
*****
“Taengoo?” calls out Jessica as she opens the door to Taeyeon’s bedroom, “are you in here?” She sticks her head in looking around.
“Bathroom!” shouts Taeyeon, “But come in!” Jessica enters the large room closing the door behind her. She makes her way over to the bed climbing in it. She crawls up to the pillows before turning and looking up at the ceiling. Does she say thank you? Does she bring up the fact Taeyeon has done some illegal business to benefit her and she hasn’t even been the best girl friend?
She’s been driving the smaller girl crazy over a kiss though she wanted for Taeyeon to initiate the kiss.
The bathroom door opens and Taeyeon steps out. “It’s dark out. How’d you get here?”
“My father…not Mr. Hwang…dropped me off,” answers Jessica while sitting up.
“Oh,” retorts Taeyeon, “that means you heard about the shady business deal…” Jessica nods her head as Taeyeon crawls into the bed beside her. “I…I didn’t want to but-“
“Thank you,” whispers Jessica as she turns and looks at the older girl sitting next to her. Taeyeon nods her head with a bigger smile. They sit in silence staring at each other. Seconds turn into minutes when Jessica shakes her head with a sigh.
“What’s wrong?”
“Now would have been the perfect moment for you to kiss me, you idiot,” states Jessica.
“Oh!” responds Taeyeon, “I knew that…I was just making sure that you’d be okay with it and-“ Taeyeon’s eyes widen at the feeling of Jessica lips moving against hers in a slow tantalizing way. Her brain goes into overdrive and shuts down.
Getting no response from Taeyeon she pulls away and looks at her girl friend with a confused expression.
“Taengoo?” she asks while waving her hands in front of Taeyeon’s face, “hello? Earth to Kim Taeyeon…Taeyeon…hey you don’t mind if I stay the night right...no okay…just so you know I like to-“ Taeyeon finally blinks a few times trying to get her brain to register what happened.
A small smiles shows on her face. It turns into a regular smile and so on and so forth until she looked like a psychopath. “I like,” she states. A small laugh escapes Jessica’s lips as she lies back on the bed.
“You can have another one at some other time…and you have to initiate it. Do you hear me?”
“Okay.” Taeyeon lies back beside Jessica, “does this mean I can touch your butt now and not get a bruise in return?”
