Chapter Four

Chapter Four

“You’re going on a date?” asks Tiffany in disbelief as her and Jessica walks out of the food court, using the second half of their lunch to do some shopping. Jessica nods her head, as Tiffany hooks pinkies with the older girl. “So does that mean your-“

“No. It’s a date to get the midget pervert off my back. Maybe you should do the same for your idiot,” states Jessica.

“And miss out on all the free stuff? I think not,” Jessica nods her head and leads the girl into a store. “So any clue where she’s taking you?”

“Somewhere well lit with lots of people and I can see her hands.”

*****

“Scored a date?” Taeyeon nods her head happily as she leans against the counter of the shoe store where Yuri and Hyoyeon work with Sooyoung behind her eating. “Where you taking her?” asks Hyoyeon as she hands a customer their change.

“Somewhere dark, so she can’t see my hands and very little people,” responds Taeyeon as she examines a pair of shoes.

“You’re asking for another beating,” states Sooyoung.

“I’m joking…I’m joking. I have no clue…” admits Taeyeon, “I thought she was going to say no again.”

“How about a walk in the park?” asks Hyoyeon.

“Yeah after you feed her something really cheap,” states Yuri as she stacks shoe boxes. “She looks like the type that want money spent on her. Which you have, right?”

“Not allowed to touch the trust fund, Yuri,” says Taeyeon as she turns around, “why do you think I’m working at the ice cream stall. I need money in my pockets.”

“Yeah after she bought the car they put our trust funds on hold, can’t touch it til we graduate from college,” states Hyoyeon.

“Well if I didn’t, we’d be stuck walking,” responds Taeyeon. “Anyways a walk in a park and what else?”

“A nice meal,” states Sooyoung.

“Yeah…and seriously keep your hands to yourself. I don’t want to be explaining to our parents why you have stitches again,” orders Hyoyeon.

“Hey in my defense I didn’t know the book would do that.”

“You also didn’t know she could slug you the way she did the next week, busting your lip. Or how about the kick resulting in a large bruise,” adds Yuri.

“My favorite was the scream that resulted in two week ear lost,” comments Sooyoung.

“So when is the date?” questions Hyoyeon.

“After she gets off work. What should I wear?”

“What you have on,” remarks Sooyoung.

“And keep it on,” orders Yuri. Taeyeon nods her head looking out the shop to see Jessica walk by with Tiffany, pinkies hooked.

“Are they going out?” asks Taeyeon curiously, turning to look at Sooyoung.

“Uh…they’re step sisters…I think. Or about to be step sisters. Or something? I don’t know. I just know that they’re real close. Like super close. Like super freakishly close,” Sooyoung pushes herself off the wall. “Well back to work for me.” Everyone waves Sooyoung off before returning to work.

“I’m off to,” states Taeyeon as she puts one of the shoes back on the display. “I’ll tell you all about it this evening.”

*****

“Are you cold?” asks Taeyeon.

“No.”

“Are you hungry?”

“No.”

“Can I hold your hand?”

“No.”

“Do you hate me?”

“No-I mean yes,” responds Jessica irritated. They’ve been going at it for the last fifteen minutes.

“Am I really that bad?” asks Taeyeon, catching Jessica off guard.

“No. You’re just annoying.”

“So do you hate me?”

“No, you’re annoying.”

“So that means I still have a chance?” Taeyeon brightens at that idea, before grabbing Jessica’s hand and dragging her out of the mall. Looking over her shoulder she sees Jessica stumbling over her feet, causing for her to slow down. “Sorry,” states Taeyeon as she walks Jessica to her car, opening the passenger door for her.

“No. We ride the bus,” demands Jessica with her arms crossed.

“Why?”

“I’m not sitting alone with you in a car, so you can try and take advantage of me. Bus or no date.”

“What’s to say we don’t get on a bus with no passengers and I still take advantage of you…if I was going to?” responds Taeyeon. Jessica could only huff before crawling in the car earning a grin from Taeyeon. Taeyeon jogs around to the other side of the car and climbs in.

“How can you own a car this nice?” asks Jessica.

“My grandfather left me a huge trust fund,” states Taeyeon as she reverses out of the parking lot. “My turn. What’s your relationship with Tiffany?”

“Jealous?”

“Hey it was my turn answer the question.”

“She’s about to be my step sister. So answer Jealous?”

“Why would I be jealous of a step sister?”

“Now you didn’t answer my question.”

“No. Because even if you guys do have a relationship, I’m still better.”

“How so?”

“I just am. Now I get to ask two.”

“How do you know who I am?”

“Sunny.”

“What did she tell you?”

“That you and the idiot are a complete set of loud obnoxious idiots. Game over,” states Jessica as she leans her head against the window, looking out at the passing city. “Wake me up when we get there. And you better keep your hands to yourself.”

*****

“There’s going to be a bruise,” mumbles Taeyeon as she rubs her jaw.

“That’s what you get. I told you to keep your hands to yourself,” responds Jessica as she massages the palm of her hand.

“You wouldn’t wake up. What else was I suppose to do?” comments Taeyeon as she leads Jessica into a small diner.

“Not touch me,” states Jessica defiantly. She continues following Taeyeon to a small booth in the corner, watching as the girl continues to rub her cheek, with a frown on her face. “Sorry,” mumbles Jessica guiltily.

“Heh! You feel guilty that must mean something right?” asks Taeyeon as she grins.

“No. Now if you don’t shut up I’ll happily stab you with this.”

“A spoon?” laughs Taeyeon as she looks at the object in Jessica’s hand. Jessica could only blush at the embarrassment, causing for Taeyeon to stop and stare at her. “You’re cute when you blush.” The pink tinge across Jessica’s face darkens as she lowers her head, allowing for her head to curtain her face. Taeyeon continues watching Jessica before picking up her menu, looking at the items with a smile on her face.

*****

The dinner part of the date had gone well for the two of them, except for the fact that Jessica had nearly killed her for the fact that the food Taeyeon had ordered had some cucumbers in it. But now all is calm as the two walk through the park with a large gap between them. “Cold?” asks Taeyeon.

“No.”

“Are you sure? You’ve got goose bumps.”

“I’m sure.”

“Here take my jacket. A sane person wouldn’t have gone out without a jacket.”

“A sane person’s date would have consisted of a movie. Not walk through the park.”

“But it was dark.”

“So?”

“So are you saying you wanted to go somewhere dark?” states Taeyeon as she begins leading somewhere else, “So you do like it when I touch you?”

Jessica stops in her tracks and looks at the older but shorter girl. “No. I do not.”

“Okay.”  With that Taeyeon continues walking, not noticing that Jessica as still standing in the same spot. She turns and looks over her shoulder. “Everything okay?”

“Fine. Let me have the jacket.” A grin forms on Taeyeon’s face as she takes off her jacket, handing it to the shivering Jessica. Jessica greedily slides the jacket on, as a smile forms on her face from the warmth that was consuming her. Taeyeon couldn’t help but smile cheekily at Jessica who was wrapping herself tightly in her jacket.

The moment was cut short when Jessica’s phone goes off. “Hello?”

“Jessi! Home a.s.a.p!” was all Tiffany said before hanging up.

“I have to go home,” states Jessica.

“Okay.”

*****

Taeyeon pulls up in front of the house that Yuri had dropped them off earlier. Jessica opens the door and climbs out, before turning back to Taeyeon. “I forgot, your jacket.”

“Keep it. I can always buy another.” Jessica nods her head and closes the door, when Taeyeon rolls the window down. “So am I better than the person you like?”

“Maybe…” was all Jessica said.

“So does that mean I get another date?” asks Taeyeon hopefully.

“Don’t push it, pervert midget.” Jessica turns and heads up to the front door, before turning around and watching Taeyeon drive off. “Maybe this job isn’t so bad.”
