Chapter Fifteen

Chapter Fifteen

Jessica watches the ‘kid’ sitting across from her. She couldn’t help laughing as they ate their ice cream. Taeyeon looks up and smiles at Jessica before turning her attention back to the ice cream before her. “Mafia,” states Jessica causing for Taeyeon to drop her spoon. “I’m sorry,” mumbles Jessica.

“It’s okay…we can talk about it if you want,” states Taeyeon as she picks her spoon up off the table.

“I’m just surprised.” Taeyeon nods her head.

“Everybody was at first you know back where I lived. But then my family moved here where a lot of my father’s business partners live and I’ve been living like a normal person. Except I don’t hang out with anybody but the group because their family is in the syndicate.”

“Like a normal person?”

“I was able to join after school activities and get a job that does not consist of a twenty four hour watch from body guards. I can date freely. And no one runs away from me if I approach them. Well all except for you. You hit and run.”

“I don’t run.”

“Right, more like storm off.” Taeyeon scoops some ice cream onto a spoon, “Aah.” Jessica opens her mouth and allows for the girl to feed her again. “So what about your family.”

“What do you mean?” asks Jessica while covering her mouth.

“I want to know something. There has to be a family secret I told you mine,” whines Taeyeon.

“I was in an intimate relationship with Tiffany.” Taeyeon’s eyes widen as she drops her spoon for a second time.

“Like sex?” blurts Taeyeon causing for all the patrons in the small shop to look at them.

“Can you keep your big mouth shut?” whispers Jessica while glaring at the onlookers. “Yes”

“Sorry,” mumbles Taeyeon, “but aren’t you guys sisters. That’s just wrong.”

“It was before we were even sisters.”

“Oh…so is she the other person that you loved? But had to break up with?” Jessica nods her head, “Well I’m glad you guys ended. That way I can have you all to myself.” Jessica rolls her eyes.

“So full of yourself. And why’d you say it like it was a bad thing? What have you never-“

“Nope. Nobody would even come within two feet of me. Boys and girls stayed away from me. And the teachers they all passed me even if I did nothing for the whole year. I never had a girl friend or boyfriend.”

“What was Sunny then?”

“She was more of a casually dating.”

“Casual?”

“Well we didn’t really go out on dates. She just merely hung out with me and the group. And the most we ever did was hold hands. So I say casual dating.”

“Is that why all you can think of for dates is cheap dinners, miniature golf and ice cream?” Taeyeon nods her head while standing up and pushing in her chair.

“Ready to go?” Jessica nods her head and stands up also. Taeyeon grabs her hand and picks up their trash. She dumps it into the trash can and they head out into the cold air.

“Do you have a gun?” asks Jessica as they head to Taeyeon’s car.

“Yeah one under the driver seat of my car. Another under the couch in my living room and one in the drawer of my desk in my room,” answers Taeyeon like it was nothing.

“You have three?” Taeyeon nods her head as she digs her keys out of her pocket. Jessica stops and looks at the car. “I’m not getting into the car.”

Taeyeon lowers her head, “You, too,” she whispers to herself. “I’ll call and have the family driver take you home.” She releases Jessica’s hand and stalks off to the car.

Jessica bites her lip as she watches the girl from a distance talk on her phone. Taeyeon hangs up and walks back to her. “He’ll be here in a few. I guess I’ll see you later.” She walks back to her car and slides in starting the engine. Cutting the lights on, she backs out of her parking spot and drives past Jessica.

“Idiot!” states Jessica to herself. “And I don’t even have her phone number!”

*****

Tiffany quietly enters her house and heads up to her room. She peeks her head into Jessica’s to see the girl still awake and staring at the ceiling. Which was odd since the older girl should have been asleep by now. “Jessi?” Jessica turns and gives Tiffany a questioning look before turning back to the ceiling. “Is everything okay?”

“Does it look like everything is okay?” responds Jessica sourly.

“What happened?” asks Tiffany walking into the room and taking a seat by her sister on the bed.

“I opened my big mouth, is what happened.”

“Explain.”

“I freaked.”

“About?”

Jessica sits up and begins playing with her blanket. “She explained that she had no friends until she moved here. That everyone feared her for being a daughter of a criminal with power. And when I asked if she possessed a gun she said yeah that there was one under her driver seat. So I freaked. I didn’t want to get in the car. I think I hurt her feelings.”

“Call her.”

“I don’t have the midgets number.”

“What kind of girl goes out on a date with a person and doesn’t get their number?” asks Tiffany in disbelief.

“Like you have Yuri’s?”

“I do.”

“Just go away and let me loathe in self pity.”

“Nope.” She stands and pulls Jessica out of bed, “come on.”

“Where are we going?”

“You’ll see.”

*****

“Where are we?” asks Jessica as she looks out the passenger window of her family car and up at the large manor on a large estate.

“Taeyeon’s house.”

“Her house?” asks Jessica confused.

“Yeah…Yuri wouldn’t give up the information on this unless I promised something in return. So you better use this opportunity well.” Jessica nods her head as the car stops in front of the steps. “Good. You have an hour. And then I have to get the car back before dad finds out and kills us all.” She nods her head again and climbs out. Turning back to Tiffany who was waving one last time she makes her way up the stairs and knocks on the front door.

The door opens up slowly and an old man looks at her questioningly. “Can I help you?”

“Um…I’m looking for Taeyeon,” states Jessica as she turns back to look at the car.

“Taeyeon is busy right now.”

“Does that mean I can’t see her?”

“Exactly,” he prepares to close the door when Jessica slips her foot in to stop it. “Ms. Taeyeon is busy right now.”

“It’ll only take a few seconds.”

“She’s busy.”

“Who’s at the door?” The door opens even wider revealing Hyoyeon. “How’d you get here?”

“Tiffany. And Yuri told us the location.”

“Well what do you want?”

“Your sister.”

“Take her to Taeyeon’s room,” orders Hyoyeon. The old man nods his head and leads Jessica into the grand house. They continue up the winding stairs to the second floor and down a long hallway stopping at a door. His knuckles raps upon the door.

“Come in,” rings Taeyeon’s voice from the other side. He slowly opens the door allowing for Jessica to peek inside and see Taeyeon’s back facing them as she’s hunched over her desk.

“Ms. Taeyeon you have a visitor.” Taeyeon nods her head and shoos the elderly man away with a flick of the wrist. Jessica steps fully inside and the door closes with a click. Taeyeon looks over her shoulder at the sound her eyes wavering over Jessica’s form for a while before turning back to her desk.

“H-hi,” states Jessica while fidgeting.

“You can take a seat on the bed. I’m almost done.” Jessica looks around the room her eyes landing on Taeyeon extravagantly large bed. She slowly makes her way to the bed sitting down upon the foot of it. Taeyeon drops the pen that was in her hand and turns to look at Jessica. “Did you need something?” Jessica shakes her head no. “Are you sure? There has to be a reason why you would travel all the way over here in the middle of the night. Unless you just wished to see me.”

“I just wanted to see if you were okay,” whispers Jessica as she looks at the comforter upon the bed. “You seemed kind of hurt after I said I didn’t want to get into the car.”

“I’m fine. I’m use to it. Who wouldn’t be afraid after I announce that I’m a crime bosses daughter and I posses a gun. It’s no big deal,” remarks Taeyeon while putting up a front.

“Okay then I’ll be going.” Jessica stands up and makes her way to the door when it slams open revealing Mr. Kim.

“Taeyeon!” Jessica stops in her place as Taeyeon turns fully around in her chair and looks at her father, “Late night visitors?! What have we talked about?! The only people who can come over at night without passing through security is Yuri, Sooyoung and Yoona! This person better have been im-“

“It was my girl friend,” answers Taeyeon while pointing at Jessica. Mr. Kim stops and turns to look at Jessica.

“Well have her go through screening next time.” He turns on his heels and leaves the room slamming the door shut.

“He’s very hostile,” comments Jessica.

“The business is going sour. He thinks there’s a mole within the group. On top of that he's paranoid and thinks someone is out to get us,” answers Taeyeon. “He’s usually more understanding and less loud.” Jessica nods her head for the umpteenth time before continuing to the door. “You’re leaving?”

“Yeah we have to get the car back before Tiffany’s dad becomes very angry. We sort of stole it.”

“I want you to stay,” states Taeyeon.

“I can’t.”

“Is it because of this?” Jessica looks over at Taeyeon to see her open a drawer and pull out a box. “I’ll get rid of it.”

“It’s not that. And you should get rid of it.”

“Then why not?”

“Because it would be awkward staying the night at your house. We’re just friends.”

“But if you stay we can get started on the project. It’s due in two days and I haven’t started it at all and neither have you according to Yuri. It’ll just be two friends working on a school assignment.”

“We can start. But I have to leave in the next hour.”

“I guess that will do.” Stand up and heads to the door opening it just as Hyoyeon was passing by, “here,” she says shoving it into Hyoyeon’s hands.

“Tae…”

“I’ll pick it up later. What’s the worst that could happen? We get attack tonight?” Hyoyeon gives her a look before walking off with the box. Taeyeon closes the door and turns to Jessica with a half hearted grin. “Let’s get to work.”

*****

Tiffany looks at her phone for the tenth time in a row. She was getting worried. Jessica is fifteen minutes over her time limit. As she places her phone back down the front door opens and she spots Hyoyeon walking down the steps. She rolls the passenger window down as Hyoyeon approaches the car. “You can go home. It seems our older siblings have fallen asleep and yours isn’t waking up anytime soon.”

“Okay. Make sure Jessi calls me when she wakes up.” Hyoyeon nods her head and watches as the car pulls off. She heads back in the house making her way to her sister’s room. She opens the door again and enters the room to see the two older girls still asleep on the bed with Jessica’s head still on Taeyeon’s chest and Taeyeon’s arms still wrapped around Jessica’s waist. School books and paper surrounding the two.

Turning the lights off, she leaves the room.

*****

“So what is the midget up to?” asks Sooyoung while taking a bite out of the breakfast that was placed in front of her.

“Sleeping with Jessica,” answers Hyoyeon causing for Sooyoung and Yoona to choke on their food.

“What?!” they exclaim simultaneously.

“Hey guys!” exclaims Yuri as she enters the dining room.

“Hold on,” states Sooyoung while putting up a hand, “Taeyeon is doing what?”

“Sleeping with Jessica.”

“What?!” exclaims Yuri this time around.

“Get your heads out of the gutter. She’s upstairs asleep with Jessica beside her,” states Hyoyeon.

“Oh,” responds the three taller girls as the sound of footsteps fill the air. They both turn around to see Taeyeon entering the room still in the clothes from the day before. “Tae!” They all shout causing for Taeyeon to grip her head. “Ooh a hangover?” asks Yuri while grinning. “Did someone sneak into their parents’ liquor cabinet?”

“No…” answers Taeyeon as she takes a seat at the table picking up a piece of toast.

“Then what happened?”

“Jessica whacked me in the head,” answers Taeyeon.

“Did you grope her?” questions Hyoyeon.

“By accident,” huffs Taeyeon.

“How is grabbing her butt an accident?” asks Yoona slightly intrigued.

“Nevermind.” She grabs a plate and throws food onto it before taking off back to her room.

“It was so not an accident,” states Yuri with a grin as she pulls out her cell phone.

“Ooh are you having a conversation with Tiffany?” asks Yoona snatching the phone away.

“Give it back.” Yuri lunges over the table trying to grab her phone back from Yoona. Yoona laughs while texting something back to Tiffany.

“Ooh, she misses Yuri.”

“Let me see,” Sooyoung takes the phone away from Yoona and begins texting while evading Yuri.

“You guys,” states Yuri, “stop it.”

“Ooh. You guys are officially dating?” Yuri stops her attempts of retrieving the phone and returns to her seat.

“When did you two become an item? You’ve only had about two dates?” questions Yoona.

“Last night while working on the assignment. She sort of told me that she wanted to try and be my girlfriend so I said okay,” answers Yuri, “But Jessica can’t know.”

“Afraid of Jung?” interrogate Hyoyeon, “And here you are preparing to be second in command.”

“Shut up.”

*****

Taeyeon pokes her head in her room to see Jessica sitting up and wiping the sleep from her eyes. A smile graces her face. Oh how she would love to see that more often. But she’ll have to stick to this memory for now. Walking inside she sets the plate on the desk and makes her way to the bed taking a seat. “What time is it?”

“About ten or eleven,” answers Taeyeon as she looks around for the clock that Jessica had threw at her night before.

Jessica stretches revealing her stomach a little. Taeyeon reaches out and touches the stomach causing for Jessica to squeal and smack her. “Sorry.”

“No wonder you haven’t had a girl friend.”

“At least I didn’t sleep with my sister,” interjects Taeyeon.

“Yah!” Jessica tackles the older girl to the bed pinning her arms above her head while hovering over her their faces inches apart. They stay in the position looking each other in the eyes and unsure of what to do next not wanting to offend the other.

The bedroom door opens, “Tae-whoa!” Jessica quickly sits up and looks at the door to see the rest of the group looking at them. She quickly removes herself from Taeyeon before turning to look elsewhere allowing for her hair to act as a curtain to hide her embarrassment.

“So Taeng was sleeping with Jessica,” remarks Yuri with a grin. “We’ll let you to be. Don’t let this stop what was happening.”

Taeyeon sits up and tries to defend herself but all that was coming out was a bunch of incoherent babble. The girls laugh and the blush that was creeping across Taeyeon’s face darkens. “It’s okay midget. Just make sure you use protection.” Another round of laughs fills the air.

“Shut up,” states Taeyeon as the door closes. She lets out a sigh before turning to look at Jessica who was slipping on her shoes. “Leaving?”

“Yeah…I have some stuff I have to take care of.”

“Want me to drop you off?” Jessica freezes for a second but nods her head. “Okay.”

*****

Taeyeon puts the car in park and waits. Jessica looks out the window to see Krystal standing on the front porch with a grin the size of a Cheshire cat. A groan escapes Jessica’s mouth as the young girl ran into the house happily. “Why aren’t you’re windows tinted?”

“I was going to tint them but I’ve been taking you out on dates,” answers Taeyeon causing for Jessica to look at her. “I don’t like using my father’s money. I can tolerate the trust fund because my grandfather went good towards the end. But since it’s put on hold the only source of income I have is my job. And you really don’t make much working at the mall.”

“Oh…”

“But its okay,” states Taeyeon quickly. Jessica gives her a smile while unlocking the door. “Um…” Jessica leans over and places a kiss on Taeyeon’s cheek. Taeyeon turns and looks at her mouth open.

“Bye.” She slides out of the car and shuts the door before quickly running to the front door, shoving it open and disappearing from Taeyeon’s gaze. Taeyeon smiles and looks in the rear view mirror before taking off.

*****

Jessica closes the door and turns around to face a grinning Tiffany. “So?”

“What?” asks Jessica while walking past her.

“You spent the night in her room…so are you guys together yet?” Jessica shakes her head no. “Jessi…”

“I’m not sure if I like her Tiff,” responds Jessica as she takes a seat on the couch. “I think I do but then…”

“How can you be unsure? The signs are all there.” Tiffany grabs Jessica’s phone out of Jessica’s hand and dials a number. “Hi Taeyeon! Jessi wanted to tell you something.” She hands the phone over to Jessica.

“How do you have her number?” hisses Jessica.

“Yuri.” Jessica glares at her before placing the phone to her ear unsure of what to say. “Say it already!”

“Taeyeon…”

“Yeah?” Jessica bites her lip and turns to Tiffany.

“Ugh…you’re horrible,” states Tiffany taking the phone from her sister’s hand. She pushes the speaker button and states loudly, “Jessica likes you and wants to be your girlfriend.”

“R-really?” comes Taeyeon’s voice from the other end.

“No!” shouts Jessica quickly.

“Oh…okay. I have to-“ A loud crunching noise fills the air.

“Taeyeon?” asks Tiffany. “Taeyeon?”

“I’m fine,” groans Taeyeon, “just call Yuri and tell her s.o.s.”

“O-“ Another loud noise comes through the phone. Jessica quickly grabs Tiffany’s phone and looks through the numbers for Yuri’s. Finding it she presses call.

“Tif-“

“Taeyeon said s.o.s.,” repeats Jessica. The line goes dead in an instant and Jessica turns to Tiffany with a worried expression.

“Jess, what’s wrong?”

“I made her get rid of her only protection,” whispers Jessica.
