Once again the middle school students were gathered around in science class, acids and bases being the main subject once again. While the teacher rambled on in her strong voice many of the students decided to just draw in their notebook. I was one of those students except I was actually drawing something for my art class. One point Payton zero points science class!

"Payton!" called my teacher as I froze in my place. Her voice was very serious with her Irish accent seeming to fade away into her anger.

I was hoping, praying, she would call on anyone but me. I have frequent panic attacks and I'm so afraid of being in front of a class. I can answer a question when Cady's standing there but besides that I'd rather break all my bones then speak in front of the class!

"Payton Shy could you please come up and list a few examples of how acids and bases have changed some geological features?" Her voice was rough and filled with anger as she glared at me, her dark brown eyes starring into my grey ones.

"O-Okay" I stuttered almost inaudibly. I got up slowly and started to walk up to the front of the class.

As I was almost there I noticed my boyfriend Wrench waving at me from the window. His mask showing that he was very happy to see me.

I just shook my head at him, he can't get in trouble again for coming to see me or he'll be suspended.

I again shook my head shaking all thoughts of Wrench out of my head, which was very hard to do with the masked boys face basically glued to the window as he watched my every move. It would have been cute if the circumstances had been different.

My teacher handed me a white board marker and went to her desk. Sitting down in her black office chair comfortably as I stood there terrified.

My whole body trembled as I tried to think of what to write. Should I go with acid rain or maybe creek water. No creek waters a neutral its neither or is it under certain circumstances. My head flooded with a million thoughts as I stood there.

"Payton please show us....now" my teacher said full on glaring at me.

I was sure that if this had been a video game, like the ones I played with Wrench, I would have had zero health by now.

I grasped the marker tightly as I heard the door open. I turned to see Wrench walking in as my teacher went to stand up but he still ran over to me, his mask showing definite displeasure with my situation.

He whispered something only I heard to me and I nodded. This would definitely make things easier.

I drew an image of a statue at one point in time, then another of it after an acid rain storm. As I finished Wrench turned and began to speak for me.

"What Payton here's trying to say is that the good old statue was once perfect and undamaged until the acid rain came down and melted away some of the statue!" Yelled Wrench a bit to loud and a bit to eagerly.

I then erased it and drew a creek with a normal shaped rock in it. I then drew the creek again with a smaller rock this time to show that the creek eroded it away.

"When the creek has rushing water that is not neutral it can not just smooth the rock over time but also erode it like an acid!" Shouted Wrench again with his mask showing he was extremely happy.

I then erased that and drew a plate and a lemon, with lemon juice being squeezed onto the plate. I then drew one of the plate after a little bit of time having been rusted over from the lemon juice.

"This one's got a plate and a lemon it's pretty obvious what's going on here but I'll explain for those of you who don't know the lemon has high acidic properties so it rusted the plate when the lemon juice was but on it and no it won't rust your mouth but maybe your braces or fillings or well who knows what" he said this time a bit calmer and funnier making every one laugh including me.

"This could be an example of how over time minerals can be broken down by acids and bases except this time in a more homey environment" he added on as I erased the drawing.

I then drew for my final drawing an apple in a tree and then the same apple on the ground.

"So here we've got an apple which has some acidic properties so when absorbed into the ground it can change it a bit and make it more acidic" he said the last part with emoji apples in his masks eyes. I giggled a bit at his humor.

The teacher then stood up and promptly told Wrench to get out. I knew he'd be in big trouble but Wrench didn't seem to mind at all, almost as if I mattered more to him then a few days in detention.

Later on I was on my way out of school when I saw Wrench standing by the gate waiting for someone. I smiled a bit but kept walking and when I looked back up he was gone. A little bit of sadness snuck its way into my heart but I kept walking till a strong arm wrapped around my waist and stopped me.

"Hey Payton I missed you!" He yelled happily as I turned a deep shade of red. My boyfriend was never the shy type yet he fell for a lonely shy girl like me.

"Hey Wrench you really need to stop sneaking into my class" I said as I looked up at his mask. It displayed what I could only assume was a blushing face.

I giggled a bit at his silliness and looked around to find everyone but us had left. As it started to rain a bit I turned to face him and pulled his mask up just enough to reveal his smiling lips. So I stood there kissing him in the rain for all he's done for me, for all the times he's been here for me.

"I love you Wrench"
