CHAPTER FOUR, girl talk
(tessa's outfit for this chapter above)
The next day of school, Tessa was walking down the hallway with Flynn, talking about the upcoming dance. Tessa chuckles a bit upon seeing Julie dancing a bit and humming to herself at her locker. She elbows Flynn to get the dark-skinned girl's attention and points in the direction Julie is at. "Looks like Jules is back to herself."
Flynn looks in the direction she's pointing at and smiles. "Good. Let's go over to her." The two girls walked over to Flynn, both laughing a bit as Julie continued to do some dance moves and hummed to herself. Julie looked over when she heard familiar laughter and smiled at her two best friends.
"Hey, what's up?"
"Nothing." Flynn shakes her head. She smiles. "It's nice seeing you back to your weirdo self."
Julie chuckles. "Thanks?"
"So, you guys, how's the band?" Flynn grins. "Still hot? Still talented?" She glances around as if to make sure no one was listening in. She leans forward and whispers, "Still dead?"
Tessa chuckles along with Julie. "Amazing." Julie answered.
Tessa grins. "Yeah, the boys are great."
Julie teasingly smiles at her. "One boy in particular?" She had a feeling that Tessa had a crush on Reggie. It was obvious ever since they met that the two liked each other.
Tessa feels her face heat up which made her know she was blushing, and she playfully shoved Julie. "Shut up, Jules."
"Anyway," Julie chuckles. She glances at Flynn with a smile. "Luke and I spent the whole weekend writing songs. Tess helped us out with some songs as well."
"Yeah," Tessa grins. "It was fun." She shakes her head and mumbles, "It kind of felt like I was being a third wheel though." She ignored the glare that Julie sent her, and she smirked since that glare informed her Julie has a crush on Luke.
Julie rolls her eyes and looks at Flynn with a small smile. "Flynn, you wanna hear some of them?"
Flynn grins. "Duh!"
The trio walks into the music room after Julie closed her locker. Julie explained how the music was flowing through like when she used to write songs with her mom on their way to the music room. Julie sat at the grand piano with Fylnn and Tessa standing across from her at the other end of the piano.
"So, this is the first song Luke and I wrote. Tess helped us out with coming up with some of the music for this one." Julie said, sharing a smile with the blonde-haired girl. She then gets ready to play. "Here's a bit of the chorus." She starts playing the song 'Edge of Great'. "'Cause we're standing on the edge of great. Great. Great."
"Wow!" Flynn nods, grinning at the two girls with her. "I like it! Definite Gaga vibes."
Tessa fists bump the air and grins. "Yes! That's what I was going for with the music."
Julie chuckles and nods. "I think we have an anthem with this one." She speaks, referring to the next song they worked on. "It's something my mom and I were working on. Luke and I finished it. Check it out." She plays the piano as she sings. "And it's one, two, three, four times. That I'll try for one more night. Light a fire in my eyes. I'm going out of my mind."
"That's...That's beautiful." Flynn then smiles knowingly, and she nudges Tessa. "Our girl's got a crush and his name is Luke."
Tessa smirks at Julie. "Oh, yeah."
Julie's eyes widen. "What? No. Luke's a ghost." She points at Tessa. "If we're talking about crushes here, Tess has one on Reggie!"
Tessa looks at her with wide eyes, and a light shade of blush appears on her face. "What?" She talks in a high-pitched tone, rubbing the back of her neck shyly. "Pff. No, I don't." She chuckles nervously. She points at Julie, looking at the dark-skinned girl with a stern expression. "Hey, you changed the subject! We're talking about you, not me."
Julie smiles knowingly at her. "But you do have a crush on Reggie."
Tessa bites her lower lip, lowering her arm as she glances at Flynn, who looked at her with a knowing smile as well. Tessa sighs, dropping her shoulders in defeat. "Okay, yes. I like Reggie. I mean, how can I not like him? He's talented and has the personality of a golden retriever." She smiles dreamingly while she thought of him. "He's so cute."
"I knew you liked him!" Julie grinned.
"Just like Luke though, Reggie's a ghost." Tessa frowned.
"They're both cute ghosts." Flynn corrected her.
Tessa nods in agreement, her face turning a brighter shade of blush. Julie couldn't fight the smile from forming on her lips while she thought of Luke. "Luke does have a perfect smile."
"Ha! I knew it!" Flynn points at Julie and Tessa, and smirks. "Just remember, they're both made of air."
Julie shrugs. "Cute air." Tessa pointed at her in a sign of agreement.
Flynn chuckles, shaking her head. "I just don't want you guys to get hurt." She looks at Julie. "It's obvious you and Luke have a connection." She glances at Tessa. "And the same goes with you and Reggie." She smiles at the two girls. "Everybody is wondering when you'll play again."
Tessa furrows her eyebrows, glancing at Flynn. "Wait, what do you mean?"
"Yeah, we don't even have anything planned." Julie shakes her head. "We have just been focused on writing songs."
Flynn points at Julie and Tessa. "Lucky for you two, your marketing team has been way ahead of you."
"Marketing team?" Tessa shares a confused look with Julie before she looks back at Flynn. "Flynn, we don't have one."
Flynn gets something out of her backpack, showing them a flyer that read 'J.T. and their Hologram Band. Tonight At the Dance'. She grins at Julie and Tessa. "Yes, you do!" She hands the flyer to Tessa so she can get a closer look at the flyer. "And surprise. You guys are playing the school dance tonight," After looking over the flyer, Tessa hands it over to Julie so she can see it. "And I'm DJ-ing too."
"I posted it all over social media." Flynn adds. She smiles. "You guys have an excellent marketing team."
"No." Julie immediately said, shaking her head, and laid the flyer in front of her. "No." She looks at Flynn with wide eyes. "This is front of the whole school?"
Tessa was nervous about this as well, but it shouldn't be any different from the first time they played in front of the whole school. "I mean, we have played in front of the school before." She shrugged.
Flynn nods and smiles. "Exactly. So, it shouldn't be a problem." She gets her phone out of her pocket when it buzzed. "Sorry, you already have sixty-eight likes. Which means you guys have to play at the dance now." Tessa sighed and followed her friends out of the music room, wondering how the dance was going to be. She just hoped it wouldn't be bad.
