Chapter Twenty Two
Alec's POV
I could feel the familiar surge in my chest, the pull I'd felt since the first time I'd laid eyes on her.
Her hands slid up my skin; cupping the back of my head, fingers tangling in my hair.
We kissed hot languorous kisses that sped up as my heartbeat did. Each kiss was different: slow worshipful kisses that said she missed me, playful light kisses that said she still had hope, adoring kisses that said she had faith in me.
I abandoned myself to the kisses, the wordless speech that passed between the two of us.
"Jessa, have you-"
She pulled away abruptly like she'd been burned. I turned to find Damien standing in the doorway, a knowing smirk on his face.
Behind me I could hear her panting, I could envision the blush painted on her cheeks.
"Past the passive aggressive stage, are we?"
I rolled my eyes at him as he chuckled. His face practically spelled out the words I told you so.
He'd predicted this would happen. I had no idea what had just happened.
All I wanted to do was get as far away from Jessa as possible.
"Damien, she needs help looking for a job. Come see me in the office when you're done." I said to him, putting my poker face on.
When I turned to Jessa, she'd bent her head, her eyes trained on her fingers. I stared at her lips, now swollen from my kisses.
I can't let her back in.
"This should've never happened. It was a mistake. Forget about it." I said harshly before getting off the bed and making my way towards Damien.
The hurt it glimpsed in those emerald eyes made me want to turn back to her and tell her I didn't mean what I'd said.
But alas I couldn't. I just couldn't.
Damien's POV
"Don't send any of the emails. Just let her think you have." He whispered in my ear.
I wanted to disagree. But this was Alec. In all the years I'd known him I'd never seen him act this way before.
I had to find out why he was doing all this. I'd never seen anything or anyone rattle him as much as Jessa was...not even the boss.
When I turned to look at her, her eyes were filled with tears, red blotches on her face.
"Oh cupcake." I said sighing. "Need a hug?" I asked spreading my arms.
She nodded, tears rolling down. I felt an inexplicable urge to wrap her up in a blanket and protect her as she sobbed.
Her body felt warm to the touch. I could feel her tears wet the fabric of my shirt but I didn't care. She could wipe her snot on me for all I cared.
I didn't know this girl but she'd awoken some thing in me. No, I didn't have feelings for her. My heart already belonged to Mami.
She made me want to protect her. I had no reason to since I barely even knew her. I rubbed slow circles on her back till her sobbing turned into gasps and hiccups.
I gently pulled her head away from the crook of my neck to look at her. Her eyes were bloodshot red, her nose too, her tear stained face looked depressing.
"Wanna talk about it ? I asked softly. She shook her head no. I wasn't surprised. I wouldn't want pour my heart out to a stranger either. It was understandable.
"Wanna hear about my sad life then?" I asked. Her lips twitched into a sad smile before she nodded.
"Okay then." I said. I shifted so my back lay on her pillows and she lay next to me, her head on my chest, my arms around her softly brushing her hair.
"It started when I met my Mami six months ago."
Six months ago....
The whole dance floor glowed with rainbow beams shooting out from the rotating lights in the ceiling. It was Friday night and the club, Eclectic, was packed with people.
I turned to my best friend. "Loosen up man! The night is too young for you to be brooding." I said, giving him a friendly punch to the arm.
He rolled his eyes and shrugged.
Typical Alec.
"Why are we even here?" He asked. "Because you my friend need to have some fun...get laid.. you're too uptight."
"Guns are fun." "No they are not." I argued giving him the stink eye.
"I'm gonna go wait in the car. If you're not there in thirty minutes I'm leaving you." He downed his bourbon before leaving his seat.
Just because Alec had decided to be a downer didn't mean I has to be one too. I came to get laid and laid I will get.
I turned around in the swivel still I sat on. Then I saw her. From the minute I laid eyes on her, I knew I was hooked.
It wasn't love, it wasn't lust..well it was but something else was there....something about her drew me in. She was like a fresh breath of air.
It was this inexplicable feeling. It felt like something had clicked into place.
In the middle of the dance floor was a girl in six inch heels dancing so sensuosly that I couldn't help but stare.
Her eyes were closed as she lost herself on the music. Her long raven hair swayed around her, a short tight blue dress covered her body, accentuating her curves and leaving nothing to imagination.
From across the room her eyes opened and caught mine. I could've sworn her eyes glowed a bright electric blue... maybe it was a trick of the light.
She gave a seductive smile and winked at me. She was the epitome of sexiness. I downed my drink, slapping the glass on the counter before I made my way towards her.
It was obvious she wanted me and there was no denying I wanted her. I got behind her, grabbing her waist to pull her flush against me.
Everywhere our skin touched, sparks of electricity flew. I wanted to rip her clothes off and take her right then and there.
I wanted her naked body underneath mine, my tongue in her mouth with my cock buried deep inside her. The things I wanted to do to her....
She gyrated against me, my cock hardened immediately. Talk about taking the initiative. The smell of lavender flooded my senses, so intoxicating.
Everything about her excited me and I didn't even know her name.
"Where have you been? I've been looking for you my whole life Mami." I whispered in her ear, my lips placing a soft kiss on her heated skin.
She shivered in response. Then she turned around to face me giving me a clearer view.
Present day....
"Then what happened?" An annoying voice interrupted my story telling for the ninth time. I glared at her and she giggled mischeviously.
"I laid eyes on the most beautiful woman I ever saw. From that day, I knew I was hooked. I thought everything would be smooth sailing from there....given my status...boy was I wrong...so wrong."
"Why do you say that?"
"Well...I'm sure you're aware of my "playboy" status?" She nodded. I snprted6, not surprised. New travelled fast in LA.
"Well...i tried to get into her pants. Long story short she kicked me in the balls..." Jesse winced at that part and I chuckled.
"Then she fainted. I took her to my apartment. The next day she freaked our when she realized who I was and has been avoiding me ever since." I stated resignedly.
"If you love her, don't give up on her. Unless you just wanna get into her pants, then I suggest you give up." She wrinkled her nose adorably.
She seemed pretty harmless to me. But Alec didn't think so.
"I don't love her...not yet anyways. I want to fall in love with her, to get to know her, to form a bond with her, to spend my life with he, to grow old with her, to always be by her side...."
"Do you think she feels something for you?"
"I don't think....i know...she feels something for me and I hate the fact that she won't admit it to herself or to me. And I know it's because of my reputation....i don't blame her for not trusting me."
Jess stared at me...i didn't see pity in her eyes...i saw sympathy.
"Just hold on to her....if you meant all the things you just said then hold on to her no matter what." She said giving me a hug.
A couple minutes passed.
"Will you help me with my job applications?" She asked. I nodded.
"Right after I give you this phone." I said, pulling the phone out of my pocket. She sat up, staring at me.
"A phone? But I didn't - "
"Alec asked me to get you one. Cece wants to be able to talk to you more, not just when you visit." I said having been warned that she'd protest.
Jessa wasn't one to take things for free. "I've put mine, Alex and Cece's numbers in here so you can reach us at anytime." I said handbag the phone to her.
She looked like she wanted to say something buy a glare from me shut her up.
"I'll pass by his study and thank him later. "
"Wise choice. "
"Now about the job applications... you wanna be a stripper?" I asked.
She giggled and shook her head no.
"You sure? You look like you've got some moves." I said, smirking mischeviously.
She laughed at that. " I can't dance to save my own life. " I let out a chuckle.
"Alright how about we start?" She nodded grabbing Alec's laptop.
It took a few hours but I managed to help her with her job applications and teach her how to use a computer...well the basic stuff at least.
I left her room, laptop in hand. I could see the smile on her face when we were done. She was excited about the prospect of getting a job.
But I hadn't sent the emails. She wasn't going to get a job. I hope Alec knows what he's doing.
