Monroe (9)

I was going to kill him. How dare he talk about our relationship out loud with a girl she doesn't know? After talking about it, he practically declared it wouldn't work, and he was fair game to every title chaser in his pack. I needed to teach him a lesson about what will and will not work. That was exactly what I had planned to do when I went through the door open to his office.

"McCoy," I shouted as I entered, "Why are you so stupid?"

"Monroe, what are you doing here?" he asked, standing up from the floor and ripping out carpet.

"You told a pack member that you don't think we are going to work out? Are you serious? That is an invitation for every rank chaser in your pack to set their sights on you!"

"We aren't going to work out. I can't mark you because you would die!" McCoy yelled back at me. "and we can't do anything that a normal couple would do because he drops his fangs when you are around, which puts you at risk of dying."

"We haven't tried anything, so you don't know that."

"I haven't tried flying either, but I'm not going to test if I can do it by jumping out of a plane."

"People jump out of plans all the time. It is called sky diving."

"yes, but they have parachutes."

"Exactly. Humans wanted to do something, so they figured out how to make it happen."

"it is not a goal of mine to kill you, and this conversation is over."

"I'm not a child, so you can't dismiss me when we talk." I marched over to him and took the tools from his hands.

"if you are not a child, then stop acting like one! Grow up. We are in the real world; you and I will never be a thing. I must wait until the alpha command is over before rejecting you." That hit me like a ton of bricks, knowing that what I was fighting for only existed because Baxter ordered it to be so. We would never have found all the pieces if my heart were glass. This made me want to hurt him, but I played long games. I grabbed his arm and pulled him to the room I was in the night before,

"Get on the bed," I ordered him. When he didn't comply, I used magic to push him.

"what are you doing?" I then used my magic to tether him down; I was over talking and fighting; I was going to prove that his wolf wouldn't hurt me and that he was using protecting me as an excuse to leave me. If he wanted to go, fine, but he needed to be honest and say he didn't want me.

"I am showing you that we can do what other couples do, and you will miss it when I walk away." I crawled on him and stared at his zipper. he resisted at first, squirming against my magical restraints. Still, eventually, he gave in and was on board with where this night was going. I released him and let him lead from there. Clothes were thrown all over the room.

We were settled in the dark, contently curled together. Needless to say, I didn't get killed by McCoy's wolf. I wondered if this changed his mind or if that even mattered because he wanted to leave me. Should I even fight for a relationship where he already had one foot out the door? I was considering slipping out while he was sleeping, as I did this morning when I noticed I was alone in the pack house, but my phone rang, jarring him from sleep. I reached for my phone and saw Baxter was calling.

"Ignore him," McCoy said and tried to wrap his arms around me again, but I answered anyway.

"I need you to come to the pack house," he said, sounding so panicked that McCoy sat up. "I told her, and she thinks I'm crazy. I need you to come here and talk to her, please."
