The New Beginning

"So you know who all of us are?"

Riley rolled her eyes, "Obviously, you guys are my family."

Riley glanced over at her best friend, "I just want to know when this one got pregnant."

Leslie looked over at her dad. It felt odd talking to Riley, now that she had no memory since November. How was she suppose to talk to her without spilling everything that happened in those six months?

Riley looked over at Carter, "Why won't she talk to me? Did I do something wrong?"

Leslie looked away from her dad when he gave her a stern look, "Les, can I talk to you in the hallway for a second?"

Leslie walked out of the private room, not looking back. She felt bad for not talking to her, but she couldn't. It was too hard to keep the past six months from her best friend. How was she suppose to keep all those memories secret?

"Why are you being so cold to her?" Phil asked, leaning against the wall. Leslie crossed her arms as she looked at the floor.

"The doctor said to let her figure everything out by herself. He told us not to tell her anything that has happened in the past six months." Leslie said, "How do you expect me to keep everything to myself when I talk to her? I can't lie to her, dad, you know I can't."

"Leslie, she was just wondering when you got pregnant." Phil told her, "You're making too big a deal of this."

Leslie rolled her eyes, "I am not making a big deal about this. If I were to have told her when I got pregnant then she would've asked by who. When I told her by who, don't you think she would continue to ask more questions considering the fact that I am pregnant by her idol's best friend?"

"You don't have to tell her it's Roman's." He said.

"Okay, yeah then all her 'memories' never come back because they are all based on some lie." She said, "Is that what you want, dad? Do you not want her to remember everything that she had with Dean?"

"I never said that, Leslie." He crossed his arms, "I'm just saying, maybe this was a sign telling us that they weren't meant to be together."

She chuckled, dryly, "Just a couple of days ago, you were telling Dean that you approved because he would do anything for Riley."

"Leslie-"

"He loves her dad, he may not know it yet, but he cares about her so much." Leslie told him, "This crushed him. He was basically crying when I told him. Just because you don't try and get her to remember him, doesn't mean he won't try."

"Leslie, listen to me." He told her, sternly, "I don't like seeing my daughter in pain, this man has caused her nothing but pain. I told him that getting rid of him would come with some withdrawal symptoms, but with this, there is no symptoms. He's gone from her mind, and I'm sorry for wanting to keep it that way."

"You're her best friend, Leslie, you should be wanting this for her." He said, "How can you want to see her in pain again? How can you want to see her crying for him again? I don't know about you, but as her dad, it's something I never want to see again."

Leslie looked up at him, "I know she's your main priority right now, but that doesn't give you the right to act like such a dick to your other daughter."

Leslie's head flew to the side as her cheek stung with pain. Her hand immediately went to cup her cheek.

Phil stepped away from her, clearly not believing what he just did.

"Leslie, sweetheart, I didn't mean to do that." He spoke softly. She looked up at him with hurt in her eyes.

"How could you? You bashed on Roman for months because he punched the wall next to me." Leslie's eyes filled with tears, "Is it okay when you do it? Is it only okay for me to be hit when it by you, Phil?"

Phil cringed when he heard her call him 'Phil'.

Leslie laughed, dryly, "I'm sorry, I forgot. I can't call you a dick, even when you're acting like one."

"Leslie-"

"Dean's on his way here." She said, softly, "I just thought you should know."

She pushed past him and walked down the hall. She couldn't go back into that room. She knew that if she walked back in there, Carter would be questioning her and she didn't want that.

The last thing she wanted was to cause a scene when it was Riley that very one should be worried about.

With a small sigh, she sat in one of the waiting room chairs. Her tears falling freely.

Her best friend couldn't remember anything and the guy, that was almost in love with her, wasn't going to stop at nothing to help her remember.

"Hey, why are you out here?"

Leslie looked up and saw Dean walking towards her. He looked dead, he seriously looked dead. He had bags under his eyes and he had light amount of hair covering his cheeks and chin. She could see the medical tape covering his left shoulder under his unzipped sweater. He looked as if he hasn't slept in days, which was probably the truth.

"It's a little overwhelming." She said, softly. She stood up, clearly wanting to show Dean to Riley's room, "Riley's room is right over-"

Dean cut her off by taking her arm. He had clearly seen the red mark on her face.

"What happened to your face?" He asked. His fingers brushed against her red cheek causing her to flinch back.

Leslie sighed, "Nothing."

Dean gave her a look, "If Roman is hurting you then you just have to tell me and I'll put him in his place."

Leslie shook her head, furiously, "No!" Dean raised his eyebrows at her tiny outburst. She immediately corrected herself, "He hasn't been hurting me, Dean, and he never has hurt me...not like that."

"Who was it then?" He asked, softly. He could tell that she was really upset about it, but she was trying to not talk about it.

"Can you please just forget about it?" Leslie begged, softly, "Riley may not know it, but she's waiting for you."

"We're talking about this later." Dean told her, sternly. Leslie rolled her eyes as she led him to Riley's room. She knew that it was going to be really overwhelming. Not just for Riley, but for Dean as well. What was he suppose to say to her?

Leslie stopped in front of her room with a sigh, "Okay, you can't tell her, anything..nothing at all. The doctor said that it would only overwhelm her more if we were telling her all these memories, so she had to figure it all out on her own." Dean nodded, "And, the first thing she'll probably do when you walk in there is scream. She was a huge fan six months ago, so she's obviously not used to seeing you."

Dean didn't know how he felt about not telling her anything. He felt as if Riley deserved to be caught up on everything that happened, but he didn't want to overwhelm her.

"Phil and Carter might come and threaten to kick you out, but it's just them talking smack, so don't worry about it." She added, "And finally, if she asks why you're here then just say that you came to meet with Phil...simple as that."

Dean gave her a look, "Did you just refer to your dad as Phil?"

Leslie rolled her eyes, "Is that all you got from that?"

Dean motioned for her to go into the room, clearly telling her that he understood. Leslie opened the door with a sigh.

"What is he doing here?" Carter immediately asked when he saw Dean enter the room.

"Leslie-" Phil was cut off by a loud high pitched scream that came from his daughter.

Dean cringed as he covered his ears.

Leslie gave Phil a look, "He's here for you, remember?"

Dean put his bag down near the door as he walked closer to Riley. She looked confused but she was obviously excited and shocked.

He wanted to open his mouth and tell her everything that has happened in the past six months, but he didn't. His eyes caught the ring on her left hand. He immediately felt his finger for his band.

The only reason that he had put it back on was because of the accident. He had taken it off on the plane ride back from Vegas, but when he found it the other day, he slipped it on. He didn't think twice about it and he hasn't taken it off since.

Tears caught in his eyes. She was never going to remember that night. He knows that he has referred to that night as a mistake multiple times, but it was the last time that they were civil towards each other. It was the last time that they kissed. It was the last time that he had enjoyed with her.

He had all those memories to himself and he didn't have her to chare them with. They were all for himself, now. He had so many great memories to remember by himself.

"You're Dean Ambrose." Riley said with a large smile. Dean hadn't seen her smile so big in a long time.

Dean smiled back, forcefully, "Yeah, I am."

There were memories that only Dean and Riley would have known about, well now just him.

Welcome, children, welcome...to your emotional death...😂😂 jk (not really)
