A Journey of Tension

The trains left each of their districts, zooming on the rails at incredible speed in order to reach their destination- the Capitol.

Most of the trains seemed to leave with stressed and rather anxious tributes within their carriages, all of them submerged in their thoughts, plans and ideas on the up coming games alongside all the other events that will be prior to that. Some people squirmed at the idea of being all prettied up for the parade and interview while others fretted over the fact that they were going to kill or be killed.

District one's tributes however seemed rather indifferent about those things, they lived in a district full of luxury- nearly having everything when ask, so the two didn't really mind about the makeovers that will definitely take place. Where as with the games they weren't all too worried about that. Caleb was actually quite confident he would win so therefore he thought nothing of it, Serena though was more focused about whether or not she would get home to her brother. If such a fate were to happen then she hoped that if Ren gets picked for the games that he would win.

"Hey, wanna be allies?"

Serena was pulled out of her thoughts by that simple question. She turned to see Caleb lying on one of the luxurious couches that was provided, his eyes trained on the current reapings that were being broadcasted on the TV screen.

"We're apart of the careers, of course we're going to be allies." She said in a rather kind tone, turning her attention to the screen as well.

"I mean if something happens to the career pack. We need to be prepared and stick together, right? So? Allies or not?"

"Oh uh well sure. But I think us careers won't get split up." Replied Serena feeling rather determined about her team being sustainable throughout the whole event.

"Are you really sure about that? The snake girl, with the armor," said Caleb nodding over to the mamba mutant  being displayed on the screen, "she looks like she'll cause a few problems. So does that cyborg girl."

"Don't you think you're being a bit too... You know, judgmental?"

The boy scoffed, finding slight amusement in the idea, "no, I'm being cautious." He insisted, his eyes still trained onto the screen. "There doesn't seem to be any good players so far...." He muttered.

Serena snorted at how hypocritical he was, "stop judging them. I bet they're better then you think they are."

"Whatever."

Katrina walked out from her bedroom, the red velvet carpet feeling rather soft and plush under her bare feet. She went into the main carriage that had a banquet of delicious foods set on a rather long and quite elegant looking table. It seemed to have everything, tomatoes all the way down to a cake that looks as if it was designed for a wedding thanks to the amount of tiers. Her eyes scanned the table wondering if they had any chocolate. And they did! Her eyes lit up with joy as she snatched up a couple feeling slight happiness in the current situation now that her rare and favourite food was present.

She looked down at how the chocolates were designed, most of them seemed to be rather complicated- looking more like an art piece oppose to a simple piece of food. But she wasn't all that surprise, typical Capitol hospitality.

She threw one chocolate into her mouth, chewing it before swallowing it as she walked into another carriage. She spotted her purple masked friend who seemed to be staring at a white haired girl with interesting blue eyes that flashed occasionally.

"Who's she?" She questioned, eating another chocolate.

Donnie jumped, not expecting her presence. He glanced back at her before looking at the TV again where it showed a more close up of her face.

"U- uh, th- they said her name was Sarina." He stammered with a slight blush. Kat couldn't help but grin at the reaction she got.

"So.... Someone's got a wittle crush?" She teased.

"What? No! Of course not! Don't be silly!" Spluttered Donnie, his blush darkening slightly, "true love at first sight is the most illogical thing in the world! I have not even met this girl so the simple idea of me developing such intense and complicated feelings for her would be completely-"

"Uh Don? I never said anything about true love at first sight. And also, you're rambling again. Meaning your lying."

"That- no.. You see- ... I- .... Oh hush." He groaned, his face now over taken by the redness of the blush.

Katrina laughed, returning to the food in her hand before she let out another sentence slip, "we could ally with her if you want. Don't worry I'll give you some alone time with your girlfriend." She wiggled her eyebrows a smirk now replacing her grin.

Donnie groaned, having a dislike to the teasing he was receiving, "she's part of the careers anyways. There's no point." He muttered quite glumly, turning back to the screen.

"We'll see about that."

"I feel like a mother!" Exclaimed Kayla gripping her hair as she paced up and down. Chris watched her, with an eyebrow raised.

"....Why?"

Instead of answering such a simple question the dragon mutant began to reveal all the stressful thoughts she was having, speaking them outloud as she continued to pace- her steps getting quicker with each thought.

"Is he dead already? Do you think he walked into the electric fence? Did he somehow set his house on fire? What if someone ran over him? Or-"

"Kayla."

"-maybe he got out of the district and peacekeepers are now torturing him thanks to that? But that wouldn't even make sense! He's blind! It's not he's fault if that happened! Speaking of torture... Do you think they'll cut off my scales? And use it as some sort of fashion statement? I mean I've never been to the capitol so I don't know what they're interested in-"

"Kayla?"

"Maybe they're interested in dragon stuff! I don't know! Wait... Oh no, they're going to cut off my wings aren't they? Oh they are, I know they are! They're going to see it as some unfair advantage and-"

"Kayla!"

"What?!" She screamed facing her best friend, her face just showing how stressed she is over the current situation.

"You were fine when we left, what-"

"It was all an act!" She screeched, returning back to her frantic pacing.

Chris stood up and place his hands on her shoulders to make her stop pacing and in hopes of calming her down, "look, everything is going to be fine."

"We're fighting to the death and we have a blind friend at home! Nothing is going to be fine!"

His amber eyes widen in reply as a flash of guilt took over his features as what he said didn't exactly do what he intended. However his expression was soon replaced by a much gentler one as he spoke in an equally gentle tone, wanting to soothe his friend, "okay, okay just... Take in deep breaths. You don't think straight when you're stressed so uh... Why don't we look outside? See, look." He turned Kayla over to face the clear windows of the train that showed the blur of green and blue that was the land and the sky. White and other colours and shades blurred and blended into them as well, indicating people or animals were out and that the clouds were trailing by, trying oh so desperately to keep up with the speedy train.

Kayla let out a breath that she didn't know she was holding and her shoulders instantly dropped to show that she was now less tense then she was a few seconds ago. She stared at the cornflower blue sky that blanketed over the whole area, thinking about flying up to it and doing various of tricks- feeling the wind through her hair and how it would wrap around her body. She also thought of the coolness of the clouds that she would sometimes touch just for the sake of it. She was much more relax now, more at peace with the idea of flying and how it made her just forget about everything.

She looked up at the roof of the train now, not liking it that much as it stopped her from getting her freedom and getting to do the hobby she loves doing. Flying just made her feel like she could do anything in some sense. It made her feel as if every and anything was possible.

"Better?"

"Slightly." She admitted, not completely forgetting about all the things at stake, all the possible bad endings.

Chris shook his head at his friend's antics, "sometimes I wonder if your bipolar."

"I sometimes think the exact same thing."
