May I Have This Dance?

"No way!" Law spat irritably.

She stood in front of Nami and Robin, arms crossed across her chest as she stared at them from beneath her hat with narrowed eyes, a slight pout on her lips.

"Come on, Law! This ball is to commemorate the alliance of our two crews and to celebrate what we did on Dressrosa, it's a big deal!" Nami said, putting her hands on her hips.

"I don't like dancing," Law muttered, averting her eyes.

"Like it or not, you have to come. You're the captain of the Heart Pirates for crying out loud!" she sighed, looking at Law with a hopeless expression.

"If you really must force me to go, why do I have to buy a whole new outfit for it?"

"Formal attire only. You said yourself you don't own any ballroom gowns didn't you?" Robin giggled slightly.

"Because they're suffocating and stupid," Law huffed.

"No more arguing about this! Come on, we're getting you a dress right now!" Nami said finally, walking forward and grabbing Law's hand.

She dragged her into the shop that Law had been so adamant to avoid, much to the frustration and protestation on Law's part.

Looking around the shop, Law could tell it was a rather fancy boutique. Extravagant dresses lined the walls and hung off of mannequins dotted all around the shop. One of the workers at the shop smiled at Law as she entered behind Nami, but Law simply looked away, still resenting that fact that she was here.

She cast her eyes to a particularly bright yellow dress and grimaced. Sometimes she hated being a girl when they were forced to dress up in these horrific evening gowns.

"I really don't want to wear a dress," Law admitted as she glanced round at the other dresses on display.

"What did I say about no complaining?" Nami said. "Now go into the changing room. Robin and I will hand some dresses in for you to try on,"

Law did as she was told, knowing that protesting would get her nowhere.

Once she was behind the dark blue curtain she removed her hat and shook her hair out. It fell at her waist and was still just as messy as it always was. No doubt Nami and Robin would make her do something to it for the dance tonight.

Sighing deeply she removed her clothes so that she was stood in front of the mirror in just her underwear. A smile flitted across her mouth as she admired her lacy black undergarments that complemented the tattoos all across her body perfectly. She looked at her body from different angles, trying to figure out if there were any dress that would look good on her.

A hand protruded through the curtain, holding a deep purple dress in its hand. Law took it and began to dress into it.

She looked in the mirror once more when she was dressed and groaned at her appearance. The dress was tight at her waist but then expanded outwards in a plethora of frills and bows. The dress even came with a pair of purple ribbons for Law to put in her hair, but she refused to even try them on.

"This is disgusting," she told Nami and Robin as she threw open the curtain allowing them to see her in it.

"No, it's cute!" Nami cooed, clasping her hands together.

"If you must force me to wear a dress, at least pick something that doesn't make me look like a freaking cupcake," Law growled.

"Maybe something a little more slim might be better," Robin said thoughtfully as she and Nami went to look for more dresses and Law threw off the dress as quickly as she could.

This continued for quite some time, with none of the dresses that were presented to Law appealing to her very much. Law was beginning to tire of this whole experience and vowed that the black dress Nami was handing to her now would be the last one she would try on. Not holding onto too much hope, she put the dress on.

When she was done, she looked at herself in the mirror and her eyes widened.

The dress was slim all the way down to the bottom were it frilled out slightly into a lighter fabric that swayed gently around Law's bare feet. The dress was completely covered except for the back of the dress were her skin was exposed. She turned around and looked back over her shoulder to admire the back. There was a gold strap that was positioned around Law's neck, meeting at the nape of her neck and covering her spine before finally connecting with the lowest point of the dip in her dress. The golden strap shimmered slightly with the small jewels that were embedded into it and Law found her eyes sparkling in return.

"You're awfully quiet!" Nami remarked from the other side of the curtain.

Law opened the curtain, a rare smile on her face.

"Oh, it's beautiful!" Robin said through her smile.

"I don't think I'd mind much if I wore this to the ball," Law said with a smirk, still admiring the dress.

"I swear, we were trying to get you to wear some other colour than black... But I guess beggars can't be choosers!" Nami sighed, but she was smiling. "Besides, I'm sure Luffy will be happy to see you in a dress,"

Law's ears pricked up at the mention of her name. She frowned at Nami who was giggling under her breath at Law's sudden expression of emotion.

"Why would I care what that idiot thinks?" Law muttered, turning her face away as she felt her face grow pink.

"Is that a blush I see on the great Surgeon of Death's face?" Robin teased.

"N-no!" Law said quickly, diving back into the changing room and closing the curtain once more.

She placed her back on the wall and slid down it onto the floor, holding her face in her hands. The image of Luffy tearing around the ship before they had left for town played back in her mind.

"Traffy, Traffy!!"

Law's head raised from her work when she heard the childish voice calling out to her. The door to her temporary office on the Sunny flung open to reveal Luffy's panting figure in the doorway. She was bent over double at present, trying to catch her breath.

"What is it, Straw Hatter?" Law asked.

Luffy straightened up then so Law could see her face. Her hair was hanging in front of her eyes, but she soon shook it out of the way so Law could look at her properly. But what was most striking about Luffy was the sudden change in her lips... She was wearing a dark red shade of lipstick.

"What do you think?" Luffy asked in a playful tone, putting her hands on her hips and sticking out her lips in a pout.

She began laughing at her own stupidity, her erubescent lips spreading into that wide smile of hers.

Law's mouth hung open slightly, staring at the woman stood before her. Luffy's lips were plump to begin with, but the lipstick seemed to highlight this fact even further. The lipstick shined in the shadowed sunlight shining through the open door and displayed all the small bumps and curves and of her natural lip shape. Her mouth spread into a smile once more as she spotted Law staring at her lips. The lipstick covered the entirety of her mouth perfectly and served to accentuate her natural beauty.

"Well...?" Luffy prompted with raised eyebrows.

"It looks good... Are you wearing it for the ball?" Law said quickly, turning her eyes back to her work to avoid jumping on Luffy right there and then.

"Mh-hm! It goes perfectly with my dress! Speaking of which, do you have a dress to wear, Traffy?" Luffy inquired.

"I wasn't planning on going actually," Law said.

"Whaaattt?! You have to come! I won't take no for an answer!"

Law glanced at Luffy frowning at her. Her arms were crossed across her chest and she was tapping her foot like an impatient parent. Her lips were still as prominent as ever...

"Fine, I'll think about it, OK?" she sighed.

"Nope, no thinking about it! I've known you long enough to know that means no!" Luffy protested. "Nami and Robin are taking you out right now to get you sorted for the ball tonight,"

Marching over to Law, she grabbed her hand and pulled her up and out of the office. Law pulled back against Luffy's force, but the small captain was much more determined than Law had anticipated. There was no arguing with her when she was like this...

***

Law removed her hands from her face and looked sideways into the mirror. Her face was a bright scarlet colour and her breathing was heightened. She pulled on her hair, growling slightly as she tried to get that dumb Straw Hat out of her head. Surely one person couldn't have this much of an effect on her, so why was she getting so worked up?

She bit her lip, a small smirk on her face as the image of Luffy's bouncing figure appeared to her, singing her nickname loud enough so that the whole world could hear it. Law allowed the word 'Traffy' to pass her lips silently as she fought back the giggle that came when she thought about how much she sounded like Luffy.

"Are you done yet, Law?" Nami called.

"Just a second!" Law responded, quickly getting to her feet and beginning to undress.

Once she was dressed once more, she handed the dress to Nami and Robin who went to buy it. On their way back to the Sunny, the two dived into a nearby shop, telling Law to wait outside. She did so and they emerged a short while later carrying bags, but would not reveal the contents when Law questioned them.

They arrived back at the Sunny as the sun was setting and so Law was whisked away to a separate room before she had a chance to relax. Nami and Robin left to get changed themselves, telling her that they would be back to finish her look in a bit. They left one of their shopping bags in the room with Law, telling her to put them on once she had put on her dress.

With a sigh and a scowl of annoyance, Law climbed back inside the familiar black material and peered inside the bag to find a pair of high heels. They were black in colour with a small golden jewel near to the tip of the toe that matched the strap of gold down Law's back.

Rolling her eyes at the sight of them, she slipped them on to her feet and practiced pacing back and forth for a while. She was used to wearing her trainers and would have been perfectly comfortable wearing them under her dress... Nevertheless, she persevered in her heel mastery and soon got used to the feeling of walking in them.

Nami and Robin entered a short while later both looking beautiful in their blue and purple dresses with their hair and makeup already done.

"Those shoes fit you great!" Nami smiled as she helped Robin carry in the rest of the shopping bags they had brought back from the town before.

"So what's in all the bags?" Law asked, but instead of receiving an answer she was placed on a chair as the two girls started rummaging around in the bags.

Robin pulled out a hairbrush and other hair styling products as Nami pulled out an array of makeup products.

"Oh God..." Law muttered as the two got to work on her.

Law couldn't feel anymore uncomfortable than she did at that present moment. Her head was constantly being pulled back by Robin who seemed to be industrially remodeling her hair and her face was being poked and prodded from every direction as Nami dragged various brushes and other products all over her face. Nami had even painted her nails black and slapped Law's hands if she so much as moved an inch.

As Law reached the end of her tether, the girls stood back, having finally finished their masterpiece.

"Oh! A couple more things," Nami giggled, reaching in the final bag.

She scampered back over to Law and tied something around her forehead before placing a few bracelets on her wrist. As well as these accessories, she slotted some earrings into Law's already pierced ears.

"All done!" she said happily.

She grabbed Law's hand and pulled her over to the full-length mirror that stood in the corner of the room.

Staring back at Law was not the same woman who had looked back at her previously. Her black tresses had been brushed and curled before being tied up at the back of her head in a messy bun. Not only that, Robin had taken the front strands of her hair and plaited them before forming a halo around her head. The bun was scattered with small diamante pins and shimmered whenever Law moved her hair into the light. A few strands of hair hung down onto Law's bare shoulders, but Law liked it that way.

Her face was by far the most striking aspect of her appearance. Nami had given Law black eye shadow but had blended it with a sparkling subtle silver colour that brought any person's attention straight to Law's eyes. Her eyelashes were longer and fuller, adding to the boldness of the eye look Nami had opted for. She had used a light pink blush to brighten Law's white as snow skin and had chosen a light peach coloured lipstick that contrasted her dark garments but, again, drew all attention to Law's face.

The headband Law wore had a similar likeness to a tiara. It consisted of a small black rope that blended into Law's hair before curving up to a pretty light blue jewel at the top of Law's forehead. The earrings Nami had given her were the same jewel that was on Law's forehead and the bracelets were simple golden ones.

"Is this me...?" Law asked slowly, watching the woman in her reflection repeat her words in perfect synchronization.

"Do you like it?" Nami asked, prodding Law with her elbow.

"It's not very me... But I suppose it won't hurt to look nice for one night," Law admitted, smiling shyly.

"I'm sure Luffy will fall head over heels when she sees you like that. She's already at the dance hall with everyone else," Robin smiled.

"Stop talking about her!! I only agreed to come because you two forced me, not because I wanted to see Luffy in a dress!!" Law retorted hotly.

"We never accused you of wanting to see Luffy in a dress," Nami smirked, making Law's face flush red. "In any case, we better get going! The dance will be starting soon!"

Law was being dragged once more, this time back into town. She found the sensation of walking in heels and a dress very strange and walked with a frown of concentration for the majority of the journey to the grandiose hall which would be the venue of their ball.

They soon reached the hall and pushed open the doors, the sounds of talking and music immediately washing over their ears. Law walked into the hall, looking about with wide eyes, analysing everyone's dresses and suits and staring in child-like amazement at the decorations that were scattered all around the hall. She found her crew over by the buffet table, Bepo being the most prominent in his ill-fitting suit and tie.

Over on the dance floor, Luffy was twirling around with Usopp as she laughed loudly, finding it funny how she kept tripping over her own feet in an attempt to dance. Her attention was drawn to the doors of the hall when she heard them opening. She saw Law stood a few feet away from the dance floor, a smile on her face as she observed her crew.

Luffy immediately stopped what she was doing and stood still, completely in awe at the person stood before her. Law was a pretty girl who found her beauty in her messy hair and stupid fluffy hat... But here Luffy saw a whole different side of the girl she thought she had fully figured out.

The dim light of the hall wasn't enough to fully appreciate Law from every angle, but Luffy could still see the frame of her face. Her head was slightly tilted so that the strands of her hair that were not contained in the bun at the back of her head fell on her shoulder in small curls, contrasting her snowy skin complexion to the blackness of her hair. Her silver eyes that seemed to be sparkling more than usual were half-closed and Luffy could see the eye shadow that complimented her outfit so perfectly.

Luffy could have stared all night, but what brought her back to her senses was her being knocked to the side by a pair of dancers. She suddenly realised she was stood in the middle of the dance floor and so quickly ran over to Law, wanting more than anything to dance with her.

"Traffy!!"

Law could have heard that familiar call from a mile away. Her head snapped in the direction from which the voice had come from and found Luffy running, the best she could in heels, over to her.

The colour returned to Law's cheeks as she took in what Luffy was wearing.

She wore a stunning red dress, the same colour as that vest that she never seemed to take off. It was one-shouldered, cutting low so that Law could see her cleavage. The lining of the top of the dress as well as the strap was scattered with small silver jewels that shone with even the slightest glints of light. There was a slit in the dress down the right side, the lining of which was also covered with the same silver jewels. Through this slit Luffy's leg could be seen clearly as well as the small silver-coloured heels she wore on her feet.

Luffy's makeup was simple, highlighting her natural beauty. She wore the same lipstick she had shown Law earlier in the day, but had refreshed it so that it was just as bold as when Law had seen it. Her eyes were decorated with a light pink eye shadow and her eyeliner was winged at the sides, making her already wide eyes seem even larger.

Luffy's hair was much shorter than Law's, but she had managed to pull off a half up, half down hairstyle. The half of her hair that was down had been curled and fell in her face, constantly forcing her to shake her head in order to be able to see.

"You actually came!" she said happily, now reaching where Law stood.

"Well I didn't really have a choice. You and your crew kind of forced me to come," Law muttered.

"But for good reason! Look how great you look!" Luffy giggled.

Law blushed with embarrassment as she looked down at her own body. She looked back up at Luffy and saw her smiling reassuringly.

"You look good too... I really like your dress," Law said quietly, not quite meeting Luffy's gaze.

"Oh, this old thing?" Luffy snorted, spinning around so the fabric spun with her. "I bought it with some of the gold we got in Skypiea. It's nothing special... Anyway, that's not why I'm here: come and dance with me!"

Law found her hand in Luffy's who was dragging her towards the dance floor, but Law drove her heels into the ground.

"No, no! Seriously, I don't do dancing," Law said quickly, shaking her head adamantly.

"You're no fun," Luffy pouted, but she was snickering nonetheless. "Fine, I've got something else you might like,"

Luffy dragged her again, but this time it was towards the doors that led to the gardens at the back of the hall. Pushing open the doors, they emerged outside and Law admired the beauty of the rather large garden they had found themselves in.

She watched curiously as Luffy went and sat on the grassy slope that led to the main part of the garden, raising her head upwards to stare at the sky above.

"You're going to get your dress all muddy if you sit on the grass," Law sighed.

"The grass isn't wet! Besides, you can't expect me to stand in heels all night," Luffy replied.

Realising that she was right, Law went and sat down next to Luffy, looking up just like she was.

She was met with the night sky, like a painter's pallet with shades of dark blue intermingling with the jet blackness that one would associate with the night sky. The white blotches in the sky shimmered beautifully, each with their own size and intensity making the sky all the more unique. It was a full moon tonight, one that seemed much bigger than usual as it bathed the surrounding garden in an iridescent white light.

Luffy looked at Law and felt her heart beat faster in her chest as she saw how perfectly the older captain looked as she stared at the sky above. She shuffled closer and rubbed shoulders with Law, much to the latter's surprise.

"You know... It would have been really nice to dance with you..." Luffy said quietly, nudging Law slightly.

Law glanced sideways at Luffy and saw her wide, pleading eyes that reminded her so much of a puppy. Was it possible for a person to be that cute?

Unable to resist the pleading stare of the one she adored, Law stood up in front of Luffy with a small sigh before getting onto one knee and holding out her hand to her.

"My dearest Luffy, may I have this dance?" she asked, slightly embarrassed by the situation but attempting a smile even so.

Luffy's eyes lit up immediately as she tried her best to calmly place her hand in Law's in her excitement.

"You certainly may!" Luffy giggled as Law helped her up off the floor.

They assumed a traditional ballroom position, with Law being the one to hold Luffy's waist, before they began to slowly waltz around the grassed field.

In reality, Law was actually a very skilled dancer. She secretly loved to dance, but was ashamed of her talents and never liked showing them to other people. But tonight, in the feeling of euphoria that spread all around them, she found herself loosing up slightly and allowing her instincts to guide her.

Luffy on the other hand was sloppy, but she was supplying the music to their private soiree. Luffy was singing softly, her voice being far from perfect but sweet to listen to. Law found herself laughing as she gripped onto Luffy tighter to prevent her falling over in her own clumsiness. Law looked down at Luffy, she being much taller than the Straw Hat captain, and couldn't help but smile.

Law began to move faster, grabbing Luffy's hand and spinning her around on the spot so that her dress became a blur of red hidden by the shadows of the night. Abruptly stopping her spinning, she grabbed Luffy's lower back and dipped her down low to the ground, leaning her face close to hers in the process.

Luffy's expression was one of shock as her black hair hung down beneath her, swaying slightly in the night air. Law smiled at her surprise and simply grabbed her legs and straightened up, now carrying the small captain in her arms.

Luffy continued to sing through her laughs as Law span around the garden, throwing Luffy up at random intervals before wrapping her up in her strong grip once more.

Starting to get dizzy, Law put Luffy down and shook her head to try and straighten her vision once more. Whilst Law was trying to come to terms with herself, Luffy was staring at her and biting her lip. Being in Law's arms had made Luffy think about just how she saw Law... The scenery seemed perfect for a moment such as this, but what sealed the deal was when Law's steely eyes locked onto Luffy's and she saw them shine to their full extent in the light of the full moon.

"Traffy..." Luffy murmured.

She walked forward and placed her hand on Law's chest. Luffy leaned in close to Law, unaware that Law was completely unprepared for the sudden weight of her. The two fell onto the grass with a thump, much to the shock and annoyance of Law.

"Straw Hatter!!" Law growled, but was silenced when Luffy looked up at her from where she had landed on her stomach.

Luffy simply smiled mischievously at her before lunging forwards and kissing Law directly on the mouth.

There was no build-up and Luffy simply dove straight in with a passionate kiss, her inhibitions no longer functioning in a situation such as this. Law's protests were muffled by Luffy's mouth and she soon found the futility in actually trying to resist her. She wrapped her arms around Luffy and began to return her kiss as Luffy pressed her further into the soft, green grass.

The kiss was rough and fast, almost as if the two had no time to waste. Law's head moved right and left as she worked around Luffy and she could feel her hair coming out at the back, but that wasn't important right now.

Pausing for breath, Law took her opportunity and threw Luffy onto the ground before straddling her and smirking down at her. Her eyes traveled down to Luffy's breasts that seemed to stick out even more than usual now that she was lying down. Crouching down low, Law stroked Luffy's side gently before working herself inside Luffy's dress. She soon found what she was looking for...

"Traffy, no... Not there!" Luffy squeaked, her cheeks quickly turning red as she closed her eyes in a mixture of pleasure and uncertainty.

"Don't you know not to order your superiors around like that? I'm in charge here," Law purred, pressing her knee up into Luffy's lower body.

Her urges taking control of her, Luffy grabbed the back of Law's head and pulled her in for another passionate kiss. Law's hands continued in the way they had been, her leg being the same. She could feel the heat rising from Luffy's face from here and her quiet moans echoed in her mouth through the kiss.

Law was blushing in return, but was smiling at the same time. Being in charge certainly had its benefits...

Back inside, Robin and Nami looked around for their captain. They found Bepo and the Heart Pirates looking for Law as well. Robin and Nami exchanged glances before their eyes found themselves on the door leading outside to the garden... A small giggle escaped both of their lips.
