You demonstrate how to climb the tree before climbing back down and letting Tooru try, but he falls off before he gets very far at all.

"Are you okay?" You ask, Tooru nods his head to let you know he's fine and you help him back onto his feet, "Hmm oh, I know," you bend down in front of the tree and hold your hands out, "okay, put your foot on top of my hand and then reach towards the branch." After doing as you said Tooru manages to get on the branch, he carefully adjusted his body into a sitting position while you climb up the tree and join him on the big tree branch.

"Ya know," you start as you begin to swing your legs back and fourth, "my mommy was the one who taught me how to climb a tree, she was the one who showed me this spot. She used to tell me stories about all the adventures she had when she was apart of her guild. She was the cool strong mage of the group, one time, she brought home this giant pearl, it was from some big clam monster in the ocean that had been hurting fishermen. Another time, she brought this pretty feather home, she told me it was from a phoenix!" You grinned as you recalled your mother showing you the beautiful orange and crimson feather with little yellow highlights sprinkled here and there.

"Wow," marveled Tooru, looking just as amazed as you had felt the first time, "your mom sounds so cool! Do you think I could meet her one day?" You fall silent and your legs stop swinging back and fourth as you looked down at your legs hanging off the branch, your smile being replaced by a small frown.

"No... My mommy died two years ago... Her friends told me that they were fighting a huge scary monster and that she saved everyone else, but she wasn't able to save herself... All that was left after was her magic staff, they gave it to me to remember her by..." Silence fell over both of you. Tooru didn't know what to say, now your sad and it was all his fault for bringing it up, he opened his mouth so he apologize for bringing it up but before he could you spoke up again. "Don't worry though, it's not your fault for asking about my mom, she was always so nice and brave, w-which is why I have to be brave too!" You raised your voice with a determined face, "I wanna be as strong as my mommy, so that means I have to be brave and train!" Tooru was surprised at the strength the little girl sitting next to him was showing.

"Wait, so does that mean you're training to become a mage too?" The intrigued demon boy asks.

"Uh w-well not exactly, when my mommy died my grandmama started taking care of me, she's the priestess of the mosque in front of this forest, the nuns there are teaching me how to be a cleric, so that way I'll be able to heal my friends and boost their defense and strength! And... that's cool and all... but what I really wanna be is a mage like my mommy. So I told sister Eliza, she's really nice, and she gave me some books to help me learn, I have to hide them though, because grandmama's friend, sister Mara, is mean. She doesn't want me to be like mommy, so if she catches me practicing how to be a mage she'll take away my books. And when I finish my cleric training sister Mara wants me to stay and be a nun for the mosque, but I don't wanna. I wanna go and explore the world and join a guild, like my mommy!" You yell, raising a small fist into the air.

"Wow, that's so cool!" Excitedly yells Tooru.

"I know right? So what do you wanna do when you grow up?" You ask, looking expectingly at Tooru. Tooru hadn't expected you to ask about what he wanted to do though.

"H-hu? Well... I don't know, really... my dad says that I have to become the next ruler of the land..." Tooru expected you to be displeased by the mention of his father, who wasn't the favorite of most humans, but you had already proven that you aren't like most humans, you paid no mind to the mention of Tooru's father.

"Wow, that's so cool!"

"H-hu? W-what do you mean cool?" Asks Tooru, as his small face scrunches up in confusion.

"Well, that means my friend is gonna be king someday! That's amazing! You're gonna be super cool king!" You yell, waving both of your hands up in the air, your eyes sparkling as a bright smile appeared on your face. Tooru looks at you with a small blush on his cheeks and his eyes wide,

"Y-you really think so?"

"Totally! It'll be great!" You say excitedly, your high pitched voice confident.

At this point the sun had already set and the sky was becoming a darker shade of blue, Tooru stared at the human in front of him, a hint of blush on his small cheeks, wondering how you could be so nice and confident in what you were saying.

"Aw come on, don't space out on me again!" You giggle as you bring his thoughts back to the present for the second time that day.

"Hu?" Tooru asks as he's brought back to reality.

"Silly, you spaced out again!" You giggle once more.

"O-oops, sorry." Apologizes Tooru.

"It's okay, so, do you wanna catch bugs tomorrow?"

"T-tomorrow?" Questions Tooru.

"Well yeah silly, we're gonna meet up again tomorrow, aren't we?"

"O-oh, sure! We could meet up at this tree!"

"Alright then!" You grin.

"W-wait, I don't like bugs, they creep me out, they're all slimy and hairy and they're hard to see in the dark." Timidly adds Tooru.

"Hmmm, oh! I know what we could do instead! We could pick flowers tomorrow!" You suggest. Tooru was about to explain why he can't do that either but a somewhat elderly voice unknown to him starts yelling nearby,

"(Y/n)! (Y/n) you little brat, where did you go?!" Your eyes widen and you make a quiet gasping noise, you know the voice calling for you, you  quickly turn to Tooru and whisper to him.

"That's sister Mara, she'd be furious if she knew I'm friends with you, she hates you and your father, I have to go, but I promise I'll be here tomorrow." You jump off the branch and wave goodbye to Tooru as sister Mara yells for you again. "I'm coming, sister Mara!" You yell as you disappear into the bushes behind the tree, going in the direction of the voice of sister Mara.
