Chapter 10

Gauri lets out a grumble mentally seeing Anjali aunty in her place . Who the hell called her ? Didn't I say her to come only when I call-Urgh -that jerk would have called -God so much love for his wife ! I would rather have a drunk person home than this annoying lady

She smiles sweetly at Anjali aunty "What brings you here?"

"Omkara baba ",

"Oh come in" Gauri says moving aside to let her in . Anjali aunty looks at Gauri weirdly seeing her voice raspier .

"What happened ? You look pale ?" She asks unable to keep it to herself

Gauri looks surprised but says "I am having a throat pain" She tells the partial truth with all the crying and yelling she is having a bad throat ache .

"I'll-" Anjali stops seeing Omkara entering

"Omkara baba "

"Anju maa Did you come just now? " Omkara asks frowning seeing her bag in her hand

Anjali nods , "I've told you to come one hour before !" He tells getting a bit angrier He did not want to leave Gauri alone and he knew it would take him at least more than a hour for him to get back home so he had clearly instructed Anju maa to be there in 5 minutes as She lived nearby but She !

"I am sorry baba I-" She starts telling to justify but Omkara stops showing her showing his displeasure and disappointment completely .

Anjali glares at Gauri Omkara had clearly told her Gauri was alone so to come soon , She did not like the fact Om cared about this girl ! This girl had been a reason that her plan of getting Omkara tied to her daughter had drown in the water . She wanted Omkara to be her Son-in-law , She had clearly devised so many plans with her daughter who had agreed instantly due to her infatuation on this handsome man , Each move her daughter took to get close to this man had been utter useless as He never made a move ! That itself had made Anjali more determined because Omkara was a man who does not exist much these days - He wasn't the man to cross his limits let alone touch any woman casually . Anjali had given up butwhat made Anjali worried was her daughter wasn't ready to give up

"Next time come on time!" Omkara tells clearly .

He takes Gauri's hands in his and pulls her inside with him . Gauri tries to shake his hands off but stops seeing Anjali aunty staring at them suspiciously . Gauri intertwines her fingers with his making Omkara look at her surprised . The world doesn't need to know Our problems . Omkara clearly could make out that would be her thought . Should he let her go? A woman who puts his pride above everything ? or hold her forever putting her above everything even his life ?.

Gauri pulls her hand back harshly once they are inside the room "What was that for?" She asks in a hoarse voice .

Omkara looks at her intently before cupping her face in his palms "Don't Yell now -You are too warm -I feel you have fever ! Don't Fight right now-have medicines and take rest . Will talk or rather you chide me after you are fine!"

Gauri chuckles humorously "Why do you pretend that you care?" , She shoves away his hands from her face "For once be honest to you and me ! How long are We or rather you gonna carry out this façade that we are a happily married couple Omkara? !'

Omkara feels himself loss of words to justify himself as She walks towards the drawer and pulls out the medicine . Why should she suffer and hurt herself because of a jerk like him!

"The house is a mess !" , Gauri hears Anjali grumbling under her breath while washing the dirty dishes after making their lunch .

Gauri sighs looking around it is dusty and untidy , Since last two weeks she wasn't in her right mind to do anything . Whenever Bhavya was here She would help Gauri clean teasing that Gauri missed Omkara that's why she could not even work which Gauri would give in a sardonic smile only if she knew the reality

"Omkara baba looks so pale and weak -don't know whether that girl fed him properly -No I am sure She wouldn't have -She doesn't give two cents about her husband!"

Gauri frowns irritated How can She speak like that about her? When that jerk is the one who does not give a damn to her !

"If You are so worried about Omkara babbbaa Why didn't you make him your son-in-law Anajli aun-ty , You could have fed him with your own hands then !" Gauri tells in her sassy tone crossing her arms around her chest raising a brow at the woman who looked shocked .

"Only if he agreed" She mutters under her breath but Gauri was quick to catch her words

"I heard something "

"Nothing" She says with a sickening smile

"Anjali aunty set the table - as in your words your Omkara baba hasn't eaten for days !"

Anjali glares at Gauri "How can you treat him like that? You heartless woman -See his face he had lost colors in his face -Since the day you've married him I have never seen him smile--"

"Anju maa!" Omkara calls her out shocked He had come looking to the kitchen not finding anyone around - He had only heard Anjali accusing Gauri-What does She know about MY Gauri-My Gauri had endured everything for me patiently to the extent of looking after a sick man like him and She is here accusing !"

"She is my wife -and You have no right to accuse her like that -Just don't forget who you are just because I have placed you high!"

Gauri looks at him shocked never had she seen him furious , "Omkara baba She -"

Omkara cuts Anjali off "She is the one who looked after me when I was sick not even once complaining that She had to care for a sick person for days - She was awake the whole night checking on my temperature -wait Why I am even telling you this ?-Even if She treats me bad You have no right to question her - because She is my wife -just because I call you maa does not mean that You are her mother-in-law to chide her !"

Gauri holds his wrist angrily and pulls him to the hall leaving Anjali alone . Anjali looks upset and sad seeing Omkara raising his tone . She had been with Omkara for five years and never had she found him even complaining but today He stood up for that girl showing her , Her place !

"Why did You do that? Didn't you see how sad and upset she was when you said not to forget her place?" Gauri yells at him dragging him to their room and shutting the door.

"Gauri She accused you of something you never did ! How can she badmouth my wife!"

"Go apologize -She is hurt because of your behavior and about badmouthing it is not something new for me - Omkara She is elder to us respect her ! She is like your mother right?"

"How could you see good in everyone ?" Omkara asks surprised while pulling her in a hug catching her off guard "Don't be so much forgiving every time -We do not know How one day it is gonna turn out ! Let the people go who does not do any good to you !"

"Including You?" Gauri asks making him stiffen . Gauri wriggles out of his hold "Some relations are needed Omkara -It is hard to let go when We have took an oath to stay by them ---forever " She pauses "Unless That person does not need us anymore-We have to let them go-" , The talk was nowhere about Anjali .

Gauri knew She had hit the right point by the look at his eyes seeing him lost . She has taken her decision . She is not gonna hold the string which binds them - It is His turn to decide -If he breaks the string She is not gonna pull up the ends tying the knot rather leave as it is and walk away forever .

Omkara walks out upset about himself He needs to make a decision soon this is getting nowhere ! .

"Anju maa I am sorry" Omkara says holding her hands who looked upset "But You were wrong here I cannot let anyone taunt MY Wife ! ---Anju maa I really do not think I can have you around after this - I'll get you a job in another place-I feel bad after talking to you like that although I was right in my part !"

"but baba it's okay -I can continue here -I was wrong" She tries to save her job but seeing Omkara not even moving his lips she knew he was firm on his decision .

"No Anju maa after talking to you that way-it will not be the same again -soo" he trails off as Gauri stares at him standing in the corner . She was happy that the annoying woman would leave her at least she could stay in peace and not act around her and not after she knew that woman had plans to marry her daughter off to Omkara ! but on the other hand she felt guilty too that she became a reason but seeing Omkara planning to get her another job she sighs in relief .

"Okay" Anjali aunty agrees after so many trials and walks up to Gauri glares at her furiously making Gauri think Serves this woman right after everything she glares at me ! So much for feeling guilty!

"Gauri-" Omkara tries to talk to her , To be honest he did not want Anjali to witness their indifferences and bitch about Gauri outside when Gauri was nothing but too good to him .

"Come and eat!" She tells sternly and walks away

Two days had passed since then , Omkara could not bear the cold shoulder Gauri gave him it was like he was invisible to her . She cooked food but She wasn't present to have meal together rather She would carry her plate to the room and have alone . She had stopped talking to him altogether the silent treatment made him feel frustrated . At nights They would sleep at two ends . Omkara wanted his minion who would rather fight or yell at him or the sassy one who cared for him. He missed her . At mornings He never got a chance to see her as She would go to temple early morning before he woke up and come back home only after He is gone to office.

The Feeling he was having inside was so unsettling . He Feared that She gave up on him which he wanted but Why did he feel disturbed then? , He never saw her smile rather frown whenever they ran into each other . It hurt him .

Gauri disliked the way she had become , She wasn't this selfish , She wanted to reach out to him and help him but she couldn't not after he refused to give her reason for his behavior . If he could be stubborn She could to . One month it is since the day they had been married it was her who wanted to hold onto the marriage but now it is all gone . If he wants let him make a move this time which she would give a thought about their relationship.

Today early morning as usual Gauri woke up much earlier freshened up and made breakfast and his lunch pack as usual , As much as angry she was she couldn't make him have mess food when he is not even recovered fully from his fever . Gauri comes to the room after preparing him the breakfast to take her hand bag to carry on her routine of going to the mandir ,only to find him letting out an yelp in pain .

Gauri conflicting with herself whether to check on him or not , Sighing She walks towards the washroom to see blood coming from him cheek courtesy his razor . She decides to walk away but seeing him hissing in pain She feels something stirring in her heart After all It was her husband , She could not understand why She feels some affection towards him is it because of the relation? , She is very well aware She is not in love with him but She feels some affection towards him which makes her care for him .

Pulling him by his forearm Gauri drags him to their room while he looks surprised at her . She pushes him on the bed harshly as He falls on his butt bouncing on the bed . Taking a tissue She wipes the shaving cream , her eyes held no emotion but His eyes was full of admiration for his minion wife , Her fingers grazed his cheeks and Omkara found himself fluttering in .....happiness . He missed her so much that seeing her now standing closing to him caring for him -He did not know what he was suppose to feel.

Gauri dabs the cotton with antiseptic a bit too harshly making him shut his eyes feeling it sting . Omkara's lips curve up seeing how his Minion is showing her anger . Why so cute?

Gauri feels herself burning seeing him smiling Doesn't it pain? Jerk! She wanted to hear him let out a scream . God when did I become so evil?

Gauri puts the antiseptic and cotton back to the box and moves her feet towards the side table to put the box back in its place . Calmly She swings her bag over her shoulder and almost tries to pace out of the room but Omkara holds her wrist stopping her

"Yell at me , Chide me or maybe beat me but don't give this silent treatment !" He confesses finally

"I miss you so much !" He adds as She raises a brow at him

"Justify your behavior -give me a reason Why did Our marriage stumble on the very first day? -Can't right? Omkara -all I ask is a reason ! -I'll talk to you the day You give me a reason until then -Let it be like this at least I am in peace! "

Gauri wriggles to get out of his hold on her wrist but he stops her pulling her close wrapping his arms around her . She looks at him shocked as Her hands are placed on his bare chest . Omkara holds her by her waist .

"I am the one who had been wrong from the beginning -Just give me some time to open up Gauri -What I have gone through is -"

"Is?" She asks back hoping he would continue

"I need sometime , Can You give me?" His eyes almost pleading

"Aren't I already give you Om" , Hearing her call him Om he leaves her with a jerk as He closes his ears as 'Om,Om,Om' Her painful yelp that day flashes front of his eyes . His mind flashes to the memory of Ishana clotted with blood with her crawling towards him in the middle of the road as her eyes held pain and care for him 'Om' her hands reached out to him but he couldn't move his fingers towards her

"Don't call me Om" He shouts loudly

The same rejection again , Gauri's lips curve up dejectedly "Omkara" She calls him not knowing what else to say seeing his reaction . Why did he behave weirdly ? . Maybe He is disgusted having you close to him that pessimistic mind does not even let her get out the feeling of rejection .

Omkara looks around to find Gauri instead of Ishana front of him , He tries to take a step forward seeing the hurt crossing across her orbs but Gauri walks away passing him a sad smile while whispering so that he could hear "Har kahani ke kismat mein ,Poora hona nehi likha hota Omkara , Uss ke kirdar adhoore Rasamein adhoore ,Aur waade bhi adhoore reh jate hain (Every story doesn't need to have a completed ending Omkara.Roles differ characters differ and Even vowes differ )

Omkara looks at her retreating figure painfully , Only if he could forget Ishana and start a new life with Gauri !
