Picnics...

Class reunions...

The opening of theme parks and water slides...

But solely...

This holiday is for the remembrance of those who have paid with the ultimate sacrifice...

Since the end of the Civil War, there has been an observance for those who died in the service of this great nation...

Originally known as Decoration Day, Memorial Day is meant to pay homage to those who have given the ultimate sacrifice for country...

There is no greater gift than the sacrifice of life for the freedom of one's countrymen...

As I veteran...

I give thanks to those who gave life for the liberty of my country...

In the sacred words of Howard William Osterkamp...

"All gave some... Some gave all..."

To all of those who have died for service of country...
