Summary:
When Gavin is late for work one day, he finds himself becoming late each day after just to see a cute red head that caught his eye.
Gavin Free stumbled about his messy and filthy apartment as he struggled to prepare for the day's work. He had made the mistake of oversleeping for the third time that week and he knew all too well the consequences that came with being late.
When he finally made his way out the door and looked down at his watch, he was already an hour late. Cussing under his breath, he locked the stubborn lock on his apartment door and hurriedly made his way down the stairs.
Living in a busy city like New York had its ups and downs. Mostly downs to be honest. Too many people crowded the sidewalk as he zipped and shoved past people who eventually parted for him, obviously knowing the feeling of being late.
When he finally made it to the bus stop, he was lucky to find many people already there, telling him a bus would be there momentarily. He searched his pocket for the change he always kept in there, and was met by the familiar sense of relief when he felt the random quarters floating on his fingertips.
Gavin took a deep breath of the exhaust filled air, breathing in the scents of New York City. He was beginning to calm down from his hectic morning and he felt his head clear a little once he reminded himself he wouldn't be too late.
Until he felt someone shove him, making him drop the file of papers he worked so hard on keeping organized.
Gavin's eye twitched as he stared down at the papers that now laid all around him. His mind become jumbled again and he felt like crying in frustration for his already shitty morning.
He heard the person that shoved him curse him out for making him spill his coffee. But right now Gavin couldn't be bothered with that.
Until an auburn haired man stepped in.
"Excuse me, sir, but from what I saw, you were the one who couldn't bother to move out of the way to avoid him. He wasn't bothering anyone and because of you, he must now pick up these scattered papers that I bet you aren't going to help pick up, hmm?" The auburn haired man growled in a Jersey accent. The other man rolled his eyes and muttered something about Jersey trash before walking away.
To Gavin's surprise, the auburn haired man bent down and began picking up his scattered papers the moment the other turned his back. He gapped at his kindness and couldn't help but watch him in amazement as he straightened them out and handed them back to him.
"Your papers, sir," The auburn haired said. Gavin nodded quickly and thanked him graciously, shoving the papers that he'd have to now organize again back into the file.
Once Gavin got a good look at the man, He instantly felt myself fall head over heels.
This man was gorgeous. He had a strong and broad posture that made him look a bit intimidating. His curly auburn locks complimented and framed his structured face. He had the palest of skin and light freckles dotted his face.
He was absolutely perfect.
"Are you alright, sir?" He asked him. Gavin nodded quickly and straightened himself out, pulling his gloved hand from the warmth of his pocket.
"Gavin. Gavin Free. You are?" Gavin asked him, shaking his firm hand.
"Michael Jones," Michael... What a wonderful name.
"It's very nice to meet you, Mi-cool," Gavin told him. He giggled a little at the way he said his name.
"I like your accent," He joked slightly. Gavin smiled and pushed out a giggle of his own.
"Likewise, love," He murmured back.
Just then, the bus came and Michael and Gavin got on. They sat on different ends but Gavin could still see Michael's eyes darting up to met his ever present ones.
The next day, Gavin may have overslept on purpose. He once again stumbled around his excuse of an apartment, making his way to the door again.
Once he made it outside, he instantly regretted not looking out the window before leaving.
Rain was pelting down onto the sidewalks. Everyone was carrying around an umbrella, or trying to hide themselves under a thin hood. Gavin quickly became one of the latter as he dashed through the crowds of stubborn people once again.
The bus stop was less dense this time. But the sight of auburn hair under a dark blue umbrella lifted his heart a bit and Gavin wrapped his arms around his freezing torso.
He heard the shuffle of a rain jacket as he suddenly felt more dry then usual. Gavin looked up noticing the fabric of a dark blue umbrella.
He smiled graciously to Michael and shuffled a little closer to him. He tilted the umbrella a little more Gavin's way so he had more shelter from the rain.
"Thank you, love," Gavin thanked him, giving him one of his best smiled. He nodded and breathed in a breath, smiling along with him.
Five minutes later, they were back on the bus. This time they didn't hide the fact that they would constantly sneak each other glances and they relaxed into the comfort of each other.
The third day was the last day of purposely being late. Gavin's boss had threatened him with overtime if he showed up to work late again. So, he'd make up some sorry excuse about why he was late, and he'd tell him he had overtime tomorrow and the whole nine yards.
But if he got to see Michael, it was all worth it.
He repeated his hurried morning routine from the past two days and made his way out the door.
A heavy mist layered the streets of New York and it was still fairly busy. It took him an extra few minutes to get to the bus stop due to the extra shoves he received this morning.
Michael was of course there, wearing his usual long and heavy wool coat that buttoned up to his neck. His hair was just as curly as when he first met him and stood next to him, not feeling awkward like he had the past two days.
Michael smiled at him and shook his gloved hand with his own gloved hand. His breath came out in billows of steam, as did Gavin due to colder temperatures.
The bus came sooner then expected and Michael got on before him. Gavin slipped his hand into his pocket to pay the driver.
His pocket was empty.
No change at all. He felt his other pocket only to find he didn't have any change in that one either. The driver gave him an exhausted look as if telling him to hurry up.
"Well, you gonna pay me or what?" The driver spat at him. He gulped and stumbled for words, not knowing how to save himself from this situation.
"It's on me," The voice that Gavin had associated with an angel spoke up. Michael payed the driver and offered him his arm, to which Gavin smiled and took. He thanked Michael once again for his now third act of kindness, to which he shrugged off as if it were no big deal.
The fourth day he couldn't afford to be late. His boss had given him overtime today and tomorrow, much to his disappointment.
He returned to his old morning routine and sighed as he sat near the window of his apartment with a hot cup of tea in his hands, watching the sunrise.
Once that was over, he went to the bathroom and put his hair into it's neat pushed up style and scrubbed at his already bright white teeth.
He left the bathroom and loaded his belongings into his bag as he left his apartment once again.
He didn't see Michael at the bus stop, to his disappointment. He knew he wasn't gonna see him but he still couldn't help but get a little hopeful that he'd see him again.
Gavin got on the bus, slumping into his seat and going to the job that he was beginning to resent.
That entire fourth day he hadn't seen Michael, and that hurt his heart more than expected. Gavin had little fantasies play out in his head of Michael appearing in his office and declaring his love for Gavin, but those were what Gavin had come to despise. They were just fantasies.
Gavin didn't want to get up on the fifth day. He debated on calling in sick but eventually pushed himself out of bed, knowing his boss would only get even more angry with him.
Gavin did the same morning routine he did the day before, except now he was more sluggish then ever. Without Michael to motivate him, he wasn't in the mood for really anything right now.
Gavin locked his apartment door, made his way down to the door and began his walk through the crowds of New York, and waited for the bus.
As per usual.
Michael wasn't there, once again to Gavin's disappointment. Gavin wondered if he'd ever see the auburn haired man that he already knew he was falling for again. When his mind had answered him with a blunt no, he resorted to isolating himself from the rest of the people surrounding him until the bus arrived.
And when it did, he was even more slow then before. He plopped down into a seat and waited out his seemingly long ride.
Gavin was exhausted.
The overtime was proving to be quite a hefty punishment and he found himself beginning to doze off on the ride back.
Gavin's mind still wandered to Michael though. And each time it did, he forced himself to remember that he wasn't gonna see him again.
When Gavin's stop came into view, he picked up his bag and made his way to the front.
What he saw was defiantly something he was not expecting.
Michael Jones himself was standing in front of him, with flowers in hand.
Gavin stepped off the bus and Michael approached him. By then, Gavin knew Michael wasn't waiting for some other person, but for him and only him. This made his heart skip a beat and he began walking toward Michael as well.
"You thought you were gonna get away from me that easily, didn't you?" Michael smiled, handing him the flowers.
"I tried," He giggled, smiling. Gavin gripped the flowers tightly and felt his heart begin to speed up.
"Well, just to make sure I see you again, you better read the note on the flowers," Michael smirked.
Gavin looked at the note and pulled it off gently. He eyed Michael before flipping it open.
Do you believe in love at first sight? I didn't, until I met you.
Will you go out with me?
Gavin blushed at the note and looked up, tears brimming the edges of his eyes. Michael was sporting a smile but Gavin could see the nervousness in his eyes.
"Of course I will," He purred.
Michael's smile grew at my answer and Gavin found himself smiling with him.
Michael stepped closer to him and he felt his heart once again begin to beat ten times faster. Michael began blushing as well as he placed one hand on the back of his neck and the other around my waist.
"Good, because I wasn't taking no for an answer," Michael purred in the voice that Gavin came to love in the past five days.
Their lips pressed together, creating the perfect end to the best week of Gavin's life. And the first week of many with Michael Jones.

So, this story is basically a combination of a Disney animated short I watched and a one shot by Heylittlehunter that is absolutely amazing. I'm actually kind of proud of this and I came up with it last night, so I worked on it all last night and... I was gonna post it too but I kind of passed out XD
Anyway, thank you so much for reading! Please let me know if you like these. I've got a few more ideas for upcoming one shots, so those will coming out soon... Maybe.
Thank you for reading and I hope you enjoyed!
