One Shot: Tower Chambers

(Again, I was reading my book and a scene similar to this shows up and I'm like YES)

"Have you lost your senses?"

Maven wraps his hands around your upper body, pulling you into his room with the strength he didn't know he possessed. After you plopped onto the rug, he closes the window quietly. You laugh, throwing your head back and hitting the floor.

Gentle snow melted on his carpet as you brush it out of your hair. Your clothes were nearly soaked from your adventures outside. You wore colors of yellow to match your Highhouse; Laris.

Maven spoke again, "Whatever were you thinking? Jumping to my room during a snowstorm? You would've frozen to death."

"I told you I desired to be here, and I wasn't going to risk any meddling Reds spotting me." You stand up, trying not to shiver in your freezing clothes. "I would like congratulations, what I did was quite heroic. And it was just for you, my love."

"Heroic is not the term I'd use," Maven glances down at the puddle you made in his room. "And how obvious is that?"

"You're a steaming person. It'll get rid in no time." You say with a cocky smile before walking over to his wardrobe. He watches as you bring out a large overcoat to throw on the bed.

"My clothes?"

"For you, not for me. We're going on an adventure."

He takes it in his hands, glancing at you suspiciously. "What's the point of jumping into my room if we are just going to leave anyway?"

"I never said we were leaving through there," you gesture to the door. His eyes widen, his brain told him it was a danger but his heart wanted to fly with you through the sky.

You continue, "I'll jump on your back and then stir the way. There is no need for fear, father taught me how to do it. And I'm sure he's an excellent example to get knowledge like that from."

Maven stiffs, rushing the coat on before stepping closer to you. His hands dance over the skin of your neck as he contemplates kissing you. Your heart beats loudly in your chest. For just a moment, all the coldest had left your body, replaced by his soothing warmth.

Instead of putting his lips on yours, he pulls back, looking out the window.

"We have to hurry, now. The storm is only beginning."

~

Maven was glad you told him to put on the coat. Soaring through the air was the coldest thing he had ever experienced. Ever downward fall made him fear his life, and the gust of wind tossing you back up put a tingling feeling in his stomach. Wind and snow hit his face in an annoying way that you have grown to be used to. You navigate yourself through the air as he lets out small yelps and grips onto you tightly. You're thankful for the snow or else there would be no way for you to land with Maven safely.

Maven's nose was already red as you plunge into the cold Earth, unknowing whether you'd hit the cold ground or a deadly rock. Luckily for you, the land was the softest you could have made you. You giggled as you stood up but Maven was still trying to brush all the snow from his face.

"Just leave it, I'm positive it'll melt anyways." You take his hand, lifting him up. He stumbles against your body before being able to stand upright. He's happy for your military training, or else you both would have toppled over again.

The middle of the forest was the quietest it has ever been. Not an animal made a noise, and no human, Red or Silver, laid within miles. Just how you like it. With a bright smile, you start on your path, not even waiting for Maven to observe his surroundings. "Let's carry on. I'm afraid I may have landed a bit far. Hopefully nothing for a fire prince to handle."

"I can still get cold."

"Then you'll get used to it, surely."

Maven cursed as he followed behind you, trying to keep up with your speed in the ankle-deep snow. You were unpredictable to him, absolutely mad and self-driving. He loved you that way.

The distant howl of wolves erupted, obviously coming from the mountains to far to be seen in the snow. Maven tensed and you gave him a backward glance, smiling teasingly.

"Too far to smell us but not far enough to be deaf. Best keep your voice down, my prince."

"How much longer?"

"Dearest, I'm afraid we are already here."

He looks up, not knowing what to expect. He sees nothing in front of him past the thick snow. His arms and legs shake in a way he starts to despise. It isn't until you open the door does the warm light pull onto the ground. He vaguely sees the outline of the hidden cabin, even when it's right in front of him.

You usher him in and shut the door tight. He's surprised by how warm it is. A total of three fireplaces are light around the large room, keeping the outside cold withdrawn.

"I built two more for you, so you can burn your clothes off or however you warm yourself." You comment before pulling your attire off casually, laying it in a pile made up of other layers of wet clothes. Maven glances at you before turning back to the fire. He kneels down, placing his cold hand against the flame. After a second, it grabs at his skin as he takes it gently. He basks in the feeling.

You smile to yourself as you take your place by his side, dressed in new clothing.

"I also have clothing for you."

"Did you steal it?"

"Are you surprised?"

"Hardly." His voice drops.

After a second, you explain. "Last time I was in your room I left the window open. You didn't notice."

"You did?" He turns to look at you, taken aback by your big smile.

"Of course I did, now get those clothes off. You don't need help, do you?"

The flame in his hand tarnished as you crawled onto his lap. He sighs, giving you his signature puppy eyes.

"Oh dear, I think I do."

You both chuckle as you put your hands on his cheeks, pulling him into a warm kiss.
