There was once upon a time in another place

An evil kingdom who no person dared to face

Norta has always been a dry, evil place for the people in and out of it. It's almost like the world gets cut off right at the borderline. For people living in Norta, Norta is the world. It's like a certain pain that aches in the wind ever since the king and queen both died of an illness mere months ago. That leaves the daughter of the bunch to become queen at the young age of (whatever your age is lol). You never quite learned how to run the business of royalty yourself. You had somebody by your side, somebody who knew you since the beginning.

Her loyal servant who's likeness surely showed

Maven, the newblood who always wore a red vest. He bled the color of red, unlike you, but you still decided to treat him equally. Sometimes. Again, he is still your servant, and he does everything you saw. But you always talk to him like a person, not an object.

"What am I required for today?" You ask Maven as you step down the royal stairs, lifting up your dress to make it easier to descend. Maven follows behind you with his eyes on your flowing dress.

"Heron wants to discuss the economy in the towns we watch over." He introduces. Once you reach the end of the stairs, you turn to Maven.

Maven is special because he sees a different side of you. Anybody else would have interpreted that smile as an innocent movement. But he notices everything about you, he knows you more than anyone.

When you turned to Maven you had the evilest smile he's ever seen. It sent a wave of realization throughout his body.

To those who feel that they want to bring me down

You'll just tidy up my gown.

"Tell her that I have more important things to do. Tell her to stop trying to bring me down." You say, releasing your dress from your grips. The layers upon layers of underskirts bounce off of each other, the cloth of your dress laying peacefully as it moves. Maven nods, not wasting a second before turning to deliver the news. Word by word, as always.

Maven doesn't always feel bad for whatever you require him to say. More than often, he delivers the news in his monotone voice with little to no emotion. Now is no different.

Evil flowers

Steadily bloom

Heron squeezes her fists to the point where her knuckles turned white. Her face turns red as she storms out of the castle. Such a blasted queen you are. This is the fall of the country, she has to do something.

As Heron walks out, she gets a sight of you. You wait for Maven to come to your side as you cover your face with a yellow, feathery hand fan. You make eye contact with Heron. You don't smile, you don't find the need too. She's pointless. Why bother.

But the weeds who feel that they want to stay

"What will happen if she loses her home? If the people she treated decease?" Maven asks, a broché in his hand. You take the treat from him, smiling as you do it. You sit at a chess table, playing against Maven. But like the queen you are, you requested a snack in between the game.

Maven smiles at you. He loves smiling at you. Because you always smile back.

They'll just die and feed me the same anyway.

"Another less person to tighten up my gown," you smile as you knock down one of his bishops. His smiles to himself, putting a finger to his lips. You look at him. Your heart beats in a way you wish it didn't. Maven is such a charm for a red boy. His eyes are a crystal blue that you only see in the most elegant of houses, not in the dust of the palace.

But behind your personal liking to Maven, there's another reason you keep him so close.

The princess held a love for a man

Of blue who wasn't very much her fan

His older brother, Cal. You often make visits to the low life towns just to see him. You even have a picture of him in the locket you wear around your neck.

Before your parents died and when you were still a princess, you ran into Cal almost always. He showed you around his town and introduced you to everybody. He was always so nice and outgoing. He had the smile of a child, a beautiful child.

But instead, he chose his neighbor's girl

Of green who's eyes shone like a pearl.

The last time you visited Cal, he had a girl by his side. She had beautiful, brown hair and big brown eyes. Her skin was a caramel color that could never compare to the way your silver blood shows through your skin. It made you so mad. And Maven knew that. Maven knows more than you think.

When you returned home you wept, holding the locket in your hand. Now, you lay in your bed with your silky dress running with the sheets. You look at the picture inside of the locket, running your fingers down the metal sides.

The princess knew this and was filled with rage

She called the minister locked in her cage

Maven was quick to attend to you. He sat at the corner of his bed, his hand reaching out to you. He hated seeing you like this. He wanted to always to see you happy.

You look at him, holding out your hand for him to grab. He wraps his fingers against yours. His hands, as soft as Mare's skin, makes you grip him hard. He winces a bit as you pull him close. He looks into your eyes, your anger filled eyes. He's never seen you like this. And he wishes to never see this wrath in your eyes ever again.

"Make sure the green country is badly stirred."

"Burn her town down, and make sure she doesn't get out alive." You instruct before letting go of him. Filled with fear, Maven scrambles up and out the door. Your heart starts to slow down. Everything will be fine, you think. Maven always listens to you. Everything will end fine.

You sit up straight, taking in deep breathes. You pray for Maven. Let him be fine, you think.

Houses of the people were burned to the ground

So many voices would no longer make a sound

Maven did exactly what you asked. But it's fine if it's for you. Everything will be fine.

When Maven came home he was drenched in blood from head to toe. When you first saw him, you screamed. It shocked you more than anything. But you still put your hand on his bicep, pulling him close to you as you kiss his cheek. He smiles. And it's adorable.

Didn't get pity from the one who'd slain.

"Oh, it's tea time."

"Anyways, when's tea?" You ask. Maven sighs through his nose before turning around, getting ready to set up your snack time.

The chime of the clock rings throughout the entire country of Norta. It shakes you. You take a deep breath. Everything is quiet. Nothing feels right.

And as Maven returns, you are tense. For once in your life, you think about consequences. What's going to happen? What are they going to do to you? No, you're the queen. There's nothing they can do.

All the anger that had built up over the years

Now consumed them without any fears

And now, Heron clenched a sword in her hand. It's a sword she never touched in a while. She draws it, pointing it to the castle. Behind her, a team of people who have lost to the queen. But there is no more losing now.

"There," Heron intrusted. Cal, along with the others like him, follows her on the trail to the castle. They will soon kill the queen, they will defeat the thing that brought them the most fear.

Little woman princess would never pose a fight

And she was finally captured in the night

Heron felt the bravest when she stood face to face with the queen, who lifts her hands to be taken away. She posed no fight, she allowed Cal to drag her away with only the words, "you're such a disrespectful man." And that's how the world ended that day. As all of the servants and more escaped through the back, the queen was taken to the court to be punished.

Cal watched you through the bars of your waiting room of doom. Heron gets the guillotine prepared as the crowd of people wait outside to see the queen get hung.

And then the church bells ring out once again, and Cal looks upon you. He thought you were an amazing person once. He loved hanging out with you and showing you the ways of the reds. But nothing would get you out of your silver mind, not even the sight of your favorite servant disappearing from your life for good.

You clench your clothes tightly, waiting for the event. And so does Maven.

The church bells to her sounded rather lame

And so Heron watches the queen walk out. Heron will be doing the honors, of course, as she is now the commander of the rebellion. She felt a sense of correctness, like everything she was doing, was right. Is this really right? Is this really the ending you wanted.

You didn't want to look at the stage. You didn't want to look at anything. You didn't want to live in this world. You think about all of the things that you said and did. You don't regret a thing, though. This is just what happens, and you're happy to take responsibility. It's everybody else's fault, not yours. Yeah, that's it. None of this is your fault.

And as the queen walked out, she was thinking about how this was her fault.

She placed her head in it's designated spot. Tears showed in her eyes before they began to run down her cheeks. The queen didn't want to cry. She didn't want to do anything to show weakness. Is that really what a queen would do?

The queen looks out to the crowd. In the front row, she sees a servant's cloak. She smiles.

Said she with eyes in a shroud

"Oh, it's tea time."

And after those words, the sound of the queen's head falling into the basket echoed throughout the crowd. They roared with pride, lifting their hands to the defeat of the queen. The person in the servant's clothes weeps, turning back and walking away. They wanted to smile because the queen wouldn't want to see their tears. But now there's nothing they can do. No crying, no smiling. All they can do is wish for their friend back.
