Chp. 7: Friends?

I ran to the curb, covering my heated cheeks. I tried to swallow down a lump in my throat but nothing happened. The pain in my delegate heart wouldn't go away. I felt like the universe was trying their hardest to make me suffer. "(Y/n)!" Mark shouted, catching up with me. He stood behind me, not daring to take another step. My mouth shivered, trying it's best not to sob out my words. "What happened in there?" I said bluntly. I tucked in my knees and buried my face leaving my (h/c) hair trailing in front. "What are you talking about?" Mark asked calmly. "I fell...on top of you. Aren't you mad?!" I said raising my tone just a tiny bit. I stood up and turned around to face Mark. His sad face matched his gloomy and confused mood. I didn't dare look away to what happened to be the most supporting person alive. "I'm sorry," I said looking away in shame. "I'm just really confused." I sat down back on the curb and Mark followed. He gave me a perplexed look. "About what?" He asked. He was intrigued by my words. I could see it in his eyes. I looked up at the cloudless sky before answering. The moon reflected off of Mark's black rimmed glasses. "I'm confused about...ah nevermind. A friend like you wouldn't understand." I answered. Mark's expression turned blank after my comment. "Friends?" I heard him mumbled. Wait. I got up from the curb and started walking back towards the house. Mark followed me with his eyes. "Where are you going?" He asked. I gave him a smirk and rolled my red and puffy eyes. "Inside, boy." I said with a country accent. He laughed and followed me inside. Amanda and Matt were no where to be find once I walked in. I suddenly heard historical laughing coming from the party room. It was Matt. I could recognize that laughter anywhere! I walked toward the door and creamed it open a bit, finding Matt and Amanda snuggled up together on a couch watching a movie on Netflix. Walking back towards the couch in the living, I sit down and realized the camera was not there. I shrugged that off and closed my eyes. Finally. Peace and - "GAH!!" Mark screamed in pain. I snapped my head around to find a man holding his hands up to his forehead. I rushed over to Mark quickly and put my hand on his back, trying to lift him up so he could stand. Instead of him standing up like I had supposed, he just fell down with a loud thud! "Mark! Are you okay?" "Just stay away from me!" He snapped. His words seemed to pierce through my heart like a sharp knife. "What?" I mumbled confused. Mark's fingers cringed and his body tensed. "Mark! What's wrong!?" "Get...away...NOW!" He growled. I didn't move. I couldn't. I was too shocked and baffled on what to do next. "Please (y/n), I'm trying to protect you!" He said with his words straining. It sounded like someone was taking over him in some way. "Mark..." I said one last time. "Go." Was his words. Those two letters made me rush towards the party room. The setting was calm unlike the kitchen. Matt jumped in surprise when I slammed the door open. "What's wrong, sis?" He asked titling his head to the side. I couldn't find words to explain what was happening. I was to terrified. But I didn't need words. The grunting and pain-filled sounds coming from the kitchen was all Matt and Amanda needed to jumped up from couch and zoom towards the kitchen. What stood in the doorway to the kitchen horrified me. It wasn't then Mark I used to know. It was some other side of Mark I've never seen before. His hair was the same style but the color was darker. Mark's used-to-be brown eyes were replaced with pitch black marble like eyes.

"Mark?" I whispered.
