Matt's POV:
A hollow sigh escaped my tired mouth, I had done nothing all day but still my existence ached. I never did much at home, I wrote and played music for my band but that seems to be a dud because the "Teenage Wolves" have major creative differences.
This weekend, I was supposed to go and stay at Takeru's house and spend some time with him and our mother but I haven't gotten word from anyone for when I was supposed to leave. I have my bag packed and it is laying upon my bed. I took a swift step toward it and hurled myself onto the bed and nesting my head within its white crisp pillows. I needed to think of something to kill some time before leaving this afternoon (hopefully).
My phone that was laying on my bedside table let out a generously loud buzz arousing attention from me, I reached out one of my arms and snatched it from its place. I was expecting it to be a message from Takeru or something but it turns out it was just Sora, I mean, that's nice too. Nice to see that my friends decide to message me on the weekends, I mean, not that its a rare occurrence or anything. I am the "self-proclaimed cool one" according to Tai.
The text read something along the lines of, "Can you lend that book you borrowed for the project to Tai? He's been asking for it for the past two days, didn't you read any of his messages?"
Oh heck. She was right, I'd blatantly and unconsciously ignored everything Tai had said to me for the past week, I was supposed to be his "best friend" and this is the treatment I give him.
Something panged in my stomach, something telling me that I should at least apologise to Tai before doing anything else. I don't want to seem like I care too much because that's Jo's character trait that we continuously joke about all the time. Tai understands- wait, what does he understand? He understands that I'm a massive jerk?? That isn't the impression I really want to give off.
My fingers almost automatically opened into my contacts and searched for Tai's unread messages, loads of pleading for that damn book. Of course. I swiftly began to type a message to send to the courageous boy, "Hey. Sorry Tai, I've been a little preoccupied for the last few days" a smooth and obvious lie, I haven't done anything for the past few days but just sit around moping for things to get up to. My life is a complete and utter bore.
I finally managed to hit send and the finalised message read: "Hey. Sorry Tai, I've been a little preoccupied for the last few days, haven't been able to respond to your messages. I'm heading to TK's this afternoon if you're willing to cycle over there and pick it up."
I patiently awaited the boy's response.
