Since when do you not look like a dude?

A/n- Flustered College Matt Murdock because why not? This is in a way based off the song Dress by Taylor Swift because I've had it stuck in my head for the past week.

Also, college started again for me. I am soooo excited about it. (I hope you sense my sarcasm) Because of that my posting may be a little slower considering now I have both work and school to worry about. Please bare with me during all of this <3

Matt had grown so used to the sweatpants, baggy t-shirts, and the men's dress shirts that you would take from him and Foggy when they wanted to get rid of them. They didn't fit you in any way, leaving your body a flat square as the shirts and pants hid whatever you had.

But this...this was much different.

First of all, there was no longing sent of Matt or Foggy on your clothes. The fabric wasn't the usual non-fitted type, it was much different. Maybe it was because it was new, or it had been washed so many times the lingering sent of him and Foggy was gone, or just the fact that it just fit you like a woman.

The first thing he noticed when you walked into the party was the way you stood and walked with absolute confidence. Your posture was straight and your smile was like a beam of light to the rest of the room.

Your hair had always been an issue, so you where known for wearing it in a ponytail or a bun to keep it out of the way. The boys would tease you endlessly saying that they would just chop your hair completely while you where sleeping, even getting to the point where your laughter on the matter would just about make you pass out.

"Holy shit dude..." Matt and Foggy's friend Eddie said. His eyes where wide as he faced the entrance to the party, watching as you continued to walk towards them. "When did Y/n become...a girl."

"What do you mean?" Foggy turned around, waving a hand up as his expression formed into the same one Eddie wore. You waved back, not the usual wacky wave you would give, but a smaller one so you wouldn't mess up your look. "Jesus Christ..."

Matt finally gained enough composer to speak.  He worked extra hard to keep his act of true blindness as he spoke. "What? Does she look good or something?"

Foggy had a smile form on his lips before he scoffed. "Uh yeah dude, she looks good. Really good. I didn't even know she owned a dress." His breathing slightly hitched, "I uh, I don't think she-"

"What?" Matt pressed, hoping his questioning didn't come off as too desperate, but he couldn't help it. "What is it?"

"She just turned around to say hi to someone." Foggy narrated.

That wasn't enough for Matt. "...And?"

"How do you explain it...The dress doesn't have a back. What's that called again?"

Matt nearly choked on air when he went to speak. "An open back dress?"

"Yeah that!" Foggy pinpointed it, turning to Matt. He was sounding way to calm in compared to Matt's deadly crisis. "Hey, are you okay? Your acting strange."

Matt cleared his throat. "Yeah...yeah I'm fine." The very thought of you walking around in an open back dress just about sending him into cardiac arrest. "I uh...I'm gonna go get something to drink real quick."

Foggy furrowed his brows as he watched Matt leave the area and head to the bar. Truly, Matt didn't know why this was happening. He had always felt a certain way about you but tonight was a completely different story. He was willing to do anything just to get you to lay a finger on him. To say you made this man act internally feral was an understatement.

As he crowded the bar, Matt heard your skin move against the silk of your dress as you walked closer to him. He just about chugged down his entire drink, preparing for the moment that he would have to act natural around you. He didn't need enhanced hearing to catch his pounding heart beating against his chest.

"Hey there, Murdock." You placed your hands on his shoulders, attempting to scare him. He turned in the direction of you, his smile only growing wider as he heard yours beaming like a ray of sunshine. "Your looking sharp tonight."

Your words earned a chuckle from Matt. "Well from what I've heard you don't look too bad yourself." He sipped from his drink. "What did you do, loose your collection of sweatpants?"

You chuckled, and he could hear your heartbeat get faster by the sound of his words. "No dickhead, I actually had this dress lying around in my closet." You looked down, admiring the emerald color fabric. "Surprisingly enough, I really like the way it looks on me."

'I like the dress more then you know,' Matt thought to himself. "Well from what I've heard other people say, you look stunning." He complemented. "Wanna go see Foggy?" He questioned.

"Right, yeah." You pointed, turning back as you felt Matt grow closer as you began to walk side by side.

He made a quick move, placing his hand on your back as he moved you closer to him discreetly. As his hands brushed against your back, he was fairly certain he had died and gone to heaven, the thought of touching you intoxicating all his senses.

"Does the dress feel okay?" You questioned, your voice tentative as you continued walking with Matt. "I just want to make sure it's not too much."

"No, not at all." Matt shook his head, his voice merely a ghost.  "It feels great." He answered without hesitation before you both made your way to Foggy who was now standing by himself.

"Hey Brosita." He joked, glancing at you at full view. "Jesus, when did you decide to become a girl?"

"Oh fuck off." You slapped his arm. You looked up at Matt, practically beaming, "Matt says he likes the dress."

Foggy eyed Matt as he watched him loosen his tie. He could tell within an instant how flustered Matt was. "Oh really?" He furrowed his brows as he crossed his arms over his chest. "You like the dress, Matt?"

Matt cleared his throat before speaking, his arm still wrapped around your body. "Y-yeah. Yeah I like the dress."

Foggy nodded, placing his hand on Matt's shoulder as he looked over at you. "Can I steal him for a minute? Thank you." he didn't wait for either of you to respond, instead, he yanked Matt to the side and whispered quite harshly in his ear, "What the hell are you doing?"

Matt nervously adjusted his glasses. "What do you mean?"

"Dude." Foggy said, standing up straight. "You know damn well what." Matt could tell in Foggy's voice that he wasn't truly mad, but he wasn't exactly thrilled either, "Y/n is like a sister to me. How many times-"

"I know, I know." Matt interrupted him. "You pretty much tell me every time she leaves the room."

"And do you know why I tell you?" Foggy's voice was theatrical, which would ordinarily make Matt laugh, but his thoughts were directed more towards the pretty young woman in the corner who was in his arms mere moments ago. "Because I don't want you playing the wounded duck card with her and then sleep with Y/n like you do with every other chick on campus." He argued. "And besides! You've never acted like this around her before! She's the same Y/n, I don't see how this is any different.

"I don't see either," Matt put on his dumbest smile, "I don't see ever, actually."

"Oh don't even." Foggy warned. "I guess there really is no stopping you in this situation is there?"

"I'm afraid that dress has a texture that I can't pass up, Fog."

"Oh, please your going to make me vomit." Foggy fake gagged. "Just do me a favor and if your gonna make a move on her, stick to only her. Don't go running around trying to get multiple women in your bed at once." He looked around, eyeing the women lined up in the room. "Now if you excuse me, I'm going to go catch some ladies." He loosened his tie before walking off.

The love-struck law student stood there for a moment, frantically gathering his wits before he did anything desperate or embarrassing. He took a second to readjust the cuffs of his sleeves before making his way back to you.

"Everything okay?" You questioned, your hands clasped together in front of you. You craned your neck to watch Foggy as he spoke to a group of three women.

"Oh yeah, Foggy just wanted some lady advice." Matt joked, earning a beaming chuckle from you.

"Right, who better to ask then the guy who is constantly with a new woman." You brought out, your heartbeat speeding up with your words. "Speaking of that, don't you have some oddly beautiful girl with you?"

"Yeah I do." Matt smiled, nudging his arm into yours. "You."

This time, the uptick in your heart rate wasn't his imagination. "Oh boy." You chuckled. "I'm being serious though, I figured there was probably some woman you would bring or leave with..." You mumbled. "Don't you usually find some unbelievably attractive woman to take with you at the end of the night that leads to Foggy sleeping on my floor?" you tried to laugh, but something in your voice sounded hurt.

Matt stepped closer, putting his hand out for you. "Do I?"

"Quite often actually." You brought out, taking his hand. "You did it last week and Foggy walked in on me changing. It was really weird." You laughed.

Your shoulders were almost touching, and despite the fact that your words weren't entirely false, he had somehow forgotten every woman he had ever been with.

You were right there, the girl that would barge into his dorm at the most random times yelling at him for taking back his shirts. The girl that would sit and read a book or article or piece of text for him every time they were together and there were no braille copies available. The girl that had always continued to dodge his and Foggy's questions about why she was still single. The girl who had done nothing but cover up in someone else's clothes the entire time he knew her. Right there, right next to him, in something entirely your own.

And god how he wanted to be yours as much as that dress was.

"Well how about this." He offered. "If you accompany me for the night, I promise to be careful with you."

"Excuse me?" You questioned with a chuckle as Matt reached for your hand.

"Y/n I swear on my life I will not break your heart or treat this as a one-night hookup if you chose to be my plus one and spend the evening with me. Hell, we don't even have to treat this like a date. In all honesty, you're the most beautiful person in this room and I would be honored to have you at my side," He took a deep breath, "Deal?"

You bit the inside of your cheek. "Your being serious about this aren't you?"

"With a girl as beautiful as you, you deserve a real plus one." He admitted, listening as your heart sped up faster then it had the entire night. "So, Ms. Y/L/N, would you do me the honor and accompany me tonight?"

Smiling as a burst of laughter escaped your lips as Matt put his arm out for you. You put your hand in the crook of his elbow as you spoke. "Yes Mr. Murdock, I would be honored to accompany you."

A/N- So sorry for how long this took for me to get out! I have had such a busy week at work and I have been absolutely exhausted lol. Plus, I am also beginning to post the chapters to my new book on my page so it's basically been a long week of editing chapters.

I hope that despite the fact this wasn't my best writing, you all enjoyed it! If you have any suggestions please leave them in the comments, I am running very low on brain fuel right now lol.

Have a great day/ night and stay safe.
