Chapter one

Levy laid her head on Gajeel’s shoulder while she read her book. Her legs were curled up to her shoulders, while Gajeel placed an arm around her. “Are you enjoying your book?” He asks.

“Yeah, it’s about dragon slayer history,” Levy explains.

“Oh? Learn anything new or interesting?”

“Actually yeah, I did. Did you know that dragon slayers go through something called Mating Season?”

Gajeel stiffened at the mention of Mating Season, “really? That sounds interesting.”

“It would be if it wasn’t so dangerous. According to this, if a dragon slayer finds their mate during the season, they’ll need to stay away from them for the entirety of the season. If the dragon slayer mates with their mate, their hearts become one and if either of them dies, the other follows. If one of them falls out of love, they’ll both die. The dragon slayer will also become extremely possessive of their mate.”

“When does this Mating Season happen?” Gajeel asks, glancing at the beautiful girl in his arms.

“That’s the thing, it’s random, however as soon as one dragon slayer enters it, the rest will follow. Which means, the others will need to know the signs so they can be on the lookout. We’ll also need to have a plan in place in case it happens.”

“That’s not necessary,” Gajeel growls slightly.

“Why not?” Levy asks, turning to look at him.

“The guild has a lot going on today, you should tell them tomorrow,” Gajeel mutters, looking away from her.

“Maybe you’re right, what are the chances that you dragon slayers will go into your mating season today?” Levy asks, chuckling at the chances.

“Anyways, what do you want to do today? It’s your choice.” Gajeel asks, smiling softly at his girlfriend.

“I don’t know, maybe a lazy day?” Levy placed a hand on her belly, “this one is extremely active today.”

Gajeel grins, “Sounds like they’ll be taking after me then.”

“Maybe.”

He held onto her tighter but not too tight and closed his eyes, “mine.” He mumbles, possessively as he falls asleep.

Levy managed to wriggle herself out of Gajeel’s grip and made her way over to the kitchen to make herself something to eat. Letting her mind wander back to the information she learned about today, she really hoped she was right about it not being too late. Something nagged at her though, telling her she was wrong and that it was definitely too late but, Gajeel isn’t acting any different yet. She sat down at the kitchen counter with her sandwich and started to eat, jumping when she heard a voice behind her.

“Levy!” Gajeel growls, standing over her. “Why did you leave? You scared me. I thought you’d left…”

“Why would you think I’d leave?” Levy frowns, turning around to face him.

Gajeel didn’t answer and instead sat down beside her, placing an arm around her waist. “Is your sandwich good?”

“Yeah, it’s fine,” Levy mutters, annoyed at Gajeel. As the day passed on, Levy began to wonder if Gajeel was in mating season but what if he was just a little extra worried because she’s pregnant with their child? Levy definitely wanted to ask about the other dragon slayers, that would answer everything.

Romeo was on his way to the guild to help set up Levy’s baby shower when some older men stepped out from an alleyway. “Where do you think you’re going?” A guy with short brown hair asks.

“None of your business,” Romeo mutters, going to walk around him but instead running into another guy who had long blond hair.

“I don’t think a little boy like you should be walking around alone, where’s your daddy?”

“None of your damn business," Romeo growls, letting his purple magic flair up. “If you want to fight, then let’s fight!” He starts shooting ball after ball of purple fire at the two men, running at them. The two men dodged him like it was nothing though, causing Romeo to have to reassess. He was about to use his ‘Purple Net’ attack when a slice of wind came out of the air, cutting the two men down.

“Sky dragon roar!” Wendy shouts, knocking the two men out of sight. She turned towards Romeo with a smile on her face. “Are you ok?”

“Yeah, I’m fine, I could have handled them though, the fight had just started!”

“I know you could’ve, I just wanted to help, I don’t want you getting hurt!” She exclaims, not understanding why he was upset. Lately, her thoughts didn’t seem to be her own and it worried her, she was constantly thinking about Romeo which she was fine with, however, they were possessive thoughts, she wasn’t possessive, not normally at least.

“Anyways, I was just on my way to the guild before the two men decided to stop me in my tracks, do you want to come with me? I’m going to help get Levy’s baby shower ready.”

“Sure, but then after that, we can head to my place. I’ll sneak you in and we can have some time  to hang out alone.”

“I don’t think my dad will be ok with that, you know how protective he is. He’s worried something will happen.”

“We’ll figure it out,” Wendy says, grabbing Romeo’s hand and pulling him along to the guild. Romeo frowned, wondering why Wendy was acting this way. Normally, she was extremely shy around him and didn’t mind his dad’s rule about them not being alone, he assumed she wasn’t ready to be in a room with only him and he didn’t mind. Was she changing her mind? Was she no longer going to be shy around him? That sure would be a huge 180 relationship wise.

“Wendy, is everything ok?” He asks as they walk, glancing at her every now and then.

“Yeah,” Wendy says, nodding. “Everything is fine, I just want to spend time with you,” she smiles a bright smile.

“Alright then,” Romeo says, choosing to believe her, knowing that she wouldn’t lie to him.

Was everything fine though? So many thoughts ran through Wendy’s mind, she didn’t know her own thoughts at the moment. It felt like her thoughts were mixing with someone else's. They both walked into the guild, in awe of how fast it had been decorated. There were blue banners everywhere, one of the tables had been set up for gifts which was already piled high, a cake was in the corner with drinks as well. They had games for the baby shower set up opposite of the gift table and plenty of tables and chairs for everyone to sit at. Two chairs were at the front of the guild for Levy and Gajeel to be front and center while they got to look at all the cute things they were going to get.

Mira was directing everyone while she got drinks mixed together and taste tested all the food they were going to have. Laxus was standing over her with his hands on her waist, his chin resting on her shoulder. Mira frowned, completely weirded out with the way he was acting but decided  not to question it. She liked him like this, calm and sweet. Maybe he would finally ask her out? That sure would be nice, she’s been waiting on him for a while now. She does also like him when he’s rough and acting all tough but change is nice every now and then. “Laxus, I’m about to move, do you think maybe you could let me? I have things to do before Levy and Gajeel arrive.”

“No, I like it here,” Laxus grumbles, tightening his grip on her.

“Why are you acting like this?” Mira asks, placing down the cup she was polishing and turning to face him, forcing his hands to fall.

“Maybe I just want to spend time with you,” Laxus shrugs, leaning against the counter.

“Why don’t we spend time together later when we can be alone?” Mira suggests, a small grin on her lips. “I have to help get the party ready, we only have a few hours before they’re set to arrive.”

Laxus nodded, “right. I don’t know what came over me,” he says, walking off towards the other side of the guild. What had come over him? He isn’t a super clingy person.

Mira frowned as she watched him walk off, “I wasn’t trying to run you off!” She called out. When she didn’t get an answer, she sighed to herself, walking over to help Kianna with the decorations. “Hey, need any help?”

“Yeah, can you grab the other side of the banner and help me hold it up?” Kianna asks, attempting to hook her side on a nail.

“Sure,” Mira says, grabbing the other side, hooking it on the nail.

Once both sides were hooked and the banner was hanging, Kianna yelped as she felt hands grab her around the waist and hoist her off the ladder she was standing on. “I missed you,” the person whispers in her ear, kissing her cheek.

“Erik? What’re you doing here?” Kianna asks excitedly, as he puts her down.

“I needed to come and see you,” he replied, slipping an arm around her. “Let’s go on a date, it’s been too long.”

“How about after I’m done here?” She asks, leaning into him. Honestly, she was so excited that he was back. He’d been doing some things with the Oracion Seis, but unfortunately he didn’t talk about it with her or anyone outside of his guild.

“How long is that going to take?” He asks, frowning.

“I’m not sure but probably not too long, we have a lot of people helping.”

“If you have a lot of people helping then why can’t you take a break?”

“That wouldn’t be fair to the others…just be patient, ok?” She asks, smiling softly at him before walking off to help Lissanna with the baby shower games.”

Erik glared as she walked off, “You’re just going to walk away?”

“Yes, because I told you I have to finish helping before I can go out with you. Give me two hours, please?”

“Fine,” Erik huffs, wondering why he felt so clingy. He isn’t exactly part of the clingy type. He made his way out of the guild, wanting to get everything ready for their date.

Natsu and Lucy were making picture frames and decorating the edges with jewels. “Hey Lucy, why don’t we head out after we’re done with these?” Natsu asks, looking over at her, his mind whirling with the fact that Lucy was here with him.

“Natsu, we can’t just leave after doing one task unless everything else is ready for tonight!” Lucy scolds.

Natsu pouts, inhaling the scent of her hair that she’d washed this morning, “Please?”

“No,” Lucy says, shaking her head. “Plus, we’re hanging out now, so what’s the issue?”

“I want to hang out alone!” Natsu exclaims, bringing out his puppy dog eyes.

“Oh,” Lucy says, blushing. “We can do that later, ok?”

Natsu sighs and lays his head on her shoulder, feeling like his heart was breaking, why was that? She didn’t turn him down, she just postponed it! What was wrong with him? He’s never realized how deeply he felt for her until just recently. Feelings are so hard!”

Lucy smiled softly and put a hand on his leg, “it won’t be too long, don’t worry.”
