KATELYN'S POV

I took Emily to my office and grabbed my shirt from my desk. I had been out for a scouting run, making sure there wasn't any sign of what happened a couple of days ago. Luckily there wasn't but I'm still on edge. Graham never waited this long to strike again. 

I wasn't going to indulge in and full-on war when new pups were born yesterday. It wasn't safe for my pack and I needed to do right by them. 

I pulled on my shirt. "You didn't have to cover up. I was liking the view" a voice came from behind me. I turned around and saw Emily with a smirk. She pushed me into my chair and straddled my lap. 

My wolf growled. "This-" I pointed to her and then me "-can't happen" 

She started to run her hands under my shirt, "sure it can. Just let me take the reigns and you'll feel better" she whispered. 

I pulled her hands off of me and picked her up. I stood up and set her on the opposite side of the desk. "I'm mated to somebody. You may not understand that but it's a big deal in wolf culture" I said as I suppressed a shudder. 

She pouted. "But I'm a naughty girl" 

'Oh, my god' Midnight said, 'slut'

'Midnight! That's Hannah's sister' I hissed. 

'Don't care. She's a slut' 

I rolled my eyes at my wolf before focusing back on Emily. "I didn't bring you here to fuck, Miss Reed. I brought you here so you could learn a thing or two about my pack. The rules would suffice" 

"Aren't I, your guest? Why do I need rules?" 

"Yes but my pack is different which leads to different ways so you need rules. One, don't go anywhere by yourself always have one of your family members with you. Two, don't break anything. Three, don't hit on anyone. Most people here are mated and the ones who aren't are either underaged or are looking for their mates" 

She rolled her eyes, "whatever. Can I go now?" she asked. 

I nodded. "Send in your brother, Randy, please" 

"Yeah whatever," she said as she walked out. 

I blew out a breath as I plopped down in my seat. 'What a day we are having' Midnight said dryly. 

I chuckled and agreed. A moment later the doors opened and I looked up to see Randy coming in. He smiled a charming smile that would probably woo any human girl. He closed the door. "So...what's up?" he asked. 

He sat down in the seat across. 'At least he isn't trying to get in your pants' Midnight chuckled. 

"I just wanted to clear a few things up and tell you the rules that I would advise you to follow or you may not be invited back" I explained. He nodded. "First the rules," I told him the rules that I told Emily before I tried to explain that I was mated. 

"I know," he said. 

I stared at him, "you know?" 

"Yeah. I saw the way Hannah fidgeted when you were coming over. You were at our house a couple of days ago and you two did something before we got there, right?" I nodded slightly. "She's been a wreck. She hasn't been eating and definitely hasn't been talking. Why didn't you call her?" 

I ran over what he said in my head. My wolf growled at me. She was angry but I was angry at myself as well. I looked back at Randy, "I should have called. I was going to but I had to help deliver pups since one of the pack doctors went to West Fragrance pack to bring his mate here. There have also been other...things going on that needed my immediate attention" I explained. 

"So, you are mated to my sister?" He raised an eyebrow. 

"Yes" 

He smiled, "don't hurt her" 

I'll try. "I won't," I said. He was about to leave when a knock came from the door. "Come in, Jules!" I called. I knew it was her based on her smell. The doors opened and she came in looking a bit hesitant. Her eyes fitted to Randy before setting her gaze on me once again. "What's wrong?" 

"Uh- you know that I turned sixteen today?" she asked. 

"Yes," I replied with a slight chuckle. 

"Well- uh" her gaze shifted to Randy once again who seemed to be in a daze as he gazed at her. 

"Oh!" I realized, "oh! Of course. Go ahead and take him for a tour and why don't you explain a little more in depths about mates, dear?" 

She smiled in relief and nodded. She held out her hand to Randy who took it without hesitation. She gave me a grateful look before they disappeared. I grinned. 

'Woohoo!' Midnight cheered and I swear she was doing a little dance on her hind legs. 

I rolled my eyes but the grin didn't falter. I got up and walked out of my office and downstairs. I went into the cafeteria to see Emily, Hannah, and Mr. and Mrs. Reed sitting at the table still. The room had emptied a bit but there were still families around. 

I looked around and found Jule's older brother Marcus. I walked over to him and set my hand on his shoulder. He looked up at me. "Jule's is taking her mate on a tour. I'll keep a close eye on her so don't worry" I said quietly. 

He blinked, "she found her mate?!" he hissed, his over-protective brother instincts kicking in. 

I chuckled and ruffled his hair which he scowled at me for. "Yes, she did. He's a good kid" I soothed. 

He huffed and nodded. "I'll inform mom and dad"

"You do that" I smiled before walking over to the Reeds. 

Mr. Reed looked confused. "Where is Randy?" he inquired. 

"He's being taken on a private tour by one of my younger wolves," I said. 

Mrs. Reed, confused as well, asked, "why?" 

"He has found his...soulmate...is that what humans call it? I need to reread that book" I muttered the last part. "Anyway, he's in good hands. Hannah, can I speak with you now?" I asked. She nodded and got up. She followed me with her head down. 

'See what you do! Now she doesn't even want to look at us!' Midnight hissed. 

'Trust me, I'm beating myself up' I said. 

I opened the doors and let her walk in first. She looked around as I made my way to my chair. "You have a beautiful office" she mumbled. 

"Thank you," I said. "My grandmother designed it for me when I was younger. She was years before her time" 

"That's amazing," she said. I walked around the desk back towards her. "Is your grandmother...gone? Or is she just away?" she asked before her back bumped into my chest. She stilled. 

I encircled her waist with my arms and pulled her flush-up against me. I rested my head on her shoulder and brushed back her hair so I could see her neck. I placed a feather-light kiss on the exposed skin.
