Chapter 4: Hera's Awakening

Delilah's P.O.V.

Screaming, growling, groans of pain, and rapid heartbeats. That was all I could hear as I tried to fight against my own.

"Hello, Delilah." I heard a soft, female voice inside my head.

"Who's there?' I whispered.

"It's me, Hera. I'm your wolf. It's nice to meet you." she replied.

The pain my body was in then evolved into an sensation I couldn't explain. It was stinging as if I was being poked with needles form the inside out. My groans of pain seemed to affect my mates, since I could see their expressions.

I smiled to myself, despite the pain I was in. My wolf was finally showing proof that she was in fact real.

"You too. Can you help me? This is too much." I whispered.

"I know you don't want to hurt anyone, so yes. Let me help." she replied.

"Why's she talking to herself?" I heard Wynter's voice, although it seemed muffled by the blurry vision that kept going in and out of focus.

"I think she's speaking to her wolf." Wyatt replied.

Suddenly, a warmth that I couldn't handle began spreading over me. It started as itching all over my body before evolving into a more burning sensation. I fell to my knees as I felt a pain on my back. A sickening crack filled my ears as the pain of my bones snapping caused me to scream. Sweat lingered on my forehead, dripping as I clawed at the ground, dropping to my side as my ribs began cracking.

I closed my eyes before opening them, seeing my vision gold. I growled as I spotted my mates and friends before charging at them, but yelping as I fell to the floor, due to the the chain holding me back.

I looked down and saw I was on all fours, my feet and hands replaced with giant paws that had purple streaks going up to my body. Through the slightly blurry vision, I could tell my mates as well as my friends were looking at me in awe.

This was my wolf form?

This is how Hera looks like?

Faintly, but surely, I could see that Willa was trying to reach me. "Remember, Delilah. Find your anchor."

"He's right. Luckily, I know what our anchor is." I heard Hera's voice.

However, I didn't pay attention due to having the sudden urge to snatch anything I could sink my claws into. I wanted to run and chase down any potential prey until I was able to satiate myself with a bite or scratch.

Hera's P.O.V.

I was finally happy to be able to talk to my human. I knew I made the right decision in choosing Delilah as my other half. For those who don't know how I came to be, here's my story.

I was created by the goddess, Selene from her power over the moon as well as the stars. She created me as the purple star wolf, the most powerful wolf in the universe. This happened before the world's first werewolf packs were a thing.

For many years, I stayed with Selene until I found the perfect match. Lucky for me, after so many centuries, I was drawn to Delilah as she was growing inside her mother.

Knowing my decision, I confessed to my matriarch that I wanted to chose Delilah and she happily bound her soul with mine when she turned 13. I was gifted to Delilah as her wolf, but knew due to the prophecy, also created by the goddess herself, I could only awaken around the time she found completed the mating process with her soulmates.

Selene had created and gifted our mates their wolves as well and they were part of the prophecy as well. Only to be awakened when the mating process was completed between our humans.

Therefore, I fell into a deep sleep and awakened when that task was done. I spoke to her in her mind, letting her become aware of my presence. Now that she needed me in order to maintain control, I decided to reveal myself to her.

"Delilah, don't hurt your friends or our mates. Try to fight this feeling." I told her softly, trying to calm her.

Due to her strength and basically losing any ounce of control, she broke one of the chains holding my legs and lunged at our loved ones as they stepped back.

"Focus on my voice. Our anchors are our mates. Think about all the times you've spent with them." I explained, trying to get through to her.

I could tell that somewhere deep down, she was trying hard to control herself. But since this was her first time in a lunar eclipse, that was nearly impossible.

"Delilah! Listen to me!" I shouted in a powerful voice, trying to gain her attention. It seemed to work, since she stopped thrashing. She was still growling at the others as our fellow pack members were going through the same struggle, if not worse for some of them.

But, I wasn't going to stop until I helped bring Delilah under control, so she could find it easier during any future lunar eclipses.

"There we go. Now, I want you to focus on my voice. Think about what we've been through with our mates. How you couldn't wait to meet them and the happiness you felt after you did. The warmth that you felt the second they brought you into your arms. The ups and downs you've been through. Every kiss, every cuddle, every interaction. I know you wouldn't hurt our mates and don't want to right now. Focus." I explained.

I noticed her breathing started evening out and she wasn't snapping at the others anymore. She stood still for a bit and before I knew it, she slumped back against the wall.

Slowly, I could tell she was gaining control. I could see the memories she had with our soulmates. She was allowing them to help her. Before I knew it, she was shifting back into her human form, taking deep breaths.

"Guys?" she asked.

I smiled, knowing my work was done. "Well done, Delilah." After I figured she was well, I decided to give her back control of her body.

Delilah's P.O.V.

I opened my eyes as I felt my head pounding like crazy along with a ringing sound that muffled the noises surrounding me. After a few moments, it went away and  I looked, seeing myself being covered by a blanket.

I saw Addison there and I smiled at her as the rest had some on their faces as well. "Guys?"

"Are you okay?" Zed asked as my mates crouched next to her.

I nodded. "My wolf. She helped me find my anchor. I don't feel the pain anymore." I explained with an exhausted smile on my face.

Addison pulled me into a hug before she took the chains off me, helping me up. "I'm glad you're okay. Look at the rest."

Most of the other pack members seemed to already be in control of themselves, although there were still a couple who weren't yet.

I went to Zed and hugged him. "Thanks for not killing me." he said in a joking matter.

I scoffed before playfully hitting him on the shoulder. "I couldn't even if I tried."

Wyatt came over and pulled me into his arms. "Your advice seems to be working for the rest of them."

"He's right. You're the definition of a true leader. Half the pack has calmed down and the eclipse won't be gone for another couple hours." Willa added.

"Your wolf form is beautiful, my love." Wynter said as she kissed my cheek.

"Thank you." I said as I leaned into my mates' touch.
