Chapter 4

Noelle

“Hi, Lucas," I said as I rubbed my throbbing forehead. He was much taller than my 5.2 height. “Hey No, how is it going?”

Normal people called me Noelle or Elle bu-u-t Lucas, on the other hand, called me No.

“Just great, my whole weekend went by in a breeze, your twin sister, drove me to my personal hell,” I said sarcastically and he laughed. “Is this about the club thing? Trust me when I say this No, you disappeared out of sight. We looked everywhere for you,” he replied, giving my shoulder a tender squeeze.

I nodded my head in understanding, knowing he was right. There was no way Aria and Sapphire would have left me in the club intentionally.

“Yeah, you’re right. You're always right. Bu-u-t I have someone in mind for you,” I said smiling, rubbing my palms together in an evil gesture.

“God no, no, no, no, there is no way am agreeing to any of your tricks or stunts."

“But she is-” I was saying but Lucas scurried down the hall and to his homeroom. Shaking my head in disbelief, I sauntered to mine as the bell rang.

I was seated in between Aria and Saph, both of them were already seated and ready for our homeroom teacher, Mr. Tanner to start the roll call.

Immediately Mr. Tanner was done, the morning announcements began blaring from the speakers. Students began doing other things while Ariadne and Sapphire started pleading their cases once again.

“We didn’t mean to hurt you—"

“Please stop pushing us away—"

“It’s okay guys. It wasn’t your fault, it was mine. I shouldn’t have wandered off at the club and blamed you guys for something I brought upon myself.” I said, grabbing both their hands. I squeezing it gently. We smiled at each other, clearing the air.

Midway through the announcements, Sapphire stared ahead and started tapping the bottom of her pen against her table, making a no-nonsense sound; I smiled to myself. Knowing her for most of my life, i knew something was bugging her—something she wanted to ask badly. While Aria, on the other hand, was solemnly listening to the announcements, soon enough, she started shifting in her seat uncomfortably.

Grinning, I waited for them to crack. Minutes later Sapphire slammed her pen hard on the table, making a banging sound and possibly giving the poor pen a crack before looking over to me, “I can’t take it anymore! What exactly happened on Friday night? Aria told me you didn’t remember. Have you remembered yet?” she asked all at once. Aria stopped listening to the announcement and looked over to us with keen interest.

“I still don’t remember. Its still hasn’t come back yet and Nicholas told me he carried me from our doorstep, he thinks that someone dropped me there, that’s the only lead I have now.”

“I saw his backside though! And damn, he was so hot,” Aria said her pale blue eyes looking dreamy. Pursing my lips, I looked at her in confusion she already had a boyfriend, Matt, who was away in college.

“Yeah me too, by the way. How many drinks did you have on Friday?” Saph asked.

Shrugging, I replied, “Err… I don’t know.  I think I just drank whatever I saw.” The bell for the first class rang. I had sciences for the first period on Monday while Aria and Saph were stuck in French class.

Waving at them, I walked down a separate hall from them; to the other side of the school. Georgian High was fairly large, so much so, you could get lost inside. In freshmen year, I missed two days of class although I had a map. But still I kept on going to the wrong classes. Until Aria, made me realized I was looking at the map upside down. Smiling at the memory, it was a long time ago...and now I was at my last year in Georgian.

Like I said earlier, I was not a popular girl but my Matchmaking app was. It was a good thing though because it kept fake friends far away from me.

I collided into an arm full of books and immediately, my butt hit the cold, hard ground. All my thoughts vanished like a poof of a cloud. I raised my head to meet a bunch of gigglers standing over me and their leader, Juan Mariez looking smugly at me.

I didn’t hate her, but she hated me out of the blue in freshmen year.
“Whoa! Nerd alert!” she said and the girls hovering behind her laughed. I wasn’t nerdy and she especially, knew I didn’t like being called names but she found it delightful.

“What’s the matter? Cat got your tongue. I thought you didn’t like nicknames,” she sneered at me. Her black hair was pulled into a neat ponytail, she was wearing her green and gold cheerleading outfit. She was like most popular girls in teen romance novels I always read but, Juan never needed to dress to kill. Her cheerleading uniform and her body did the job for her.

I always admired the fact that she could wear a jean and a tank top and boys attention came crawling to her.

I stood up, bowing my head low, not saying a word to her but in my imagination, I knew a little bit of karate and I was going all Jackie-Chan on her.

“Let’s go, Juan, she isn’t worth your time,” one girl behind her drawled smugly. I slowly raised my head to find the girl frowning at me.

Giving me a hideous look, Juan walked away with her girls flocking behind her. I hated trouble, feeling scared was not the problem, I just loved being on the safe side.

The day moved quite fast and I struggled to keep up with my last class before break, Math which I shared with Lucas and everybody else. Mr.Toppins kept going on and on till the bell rang.

I silently thanked God for the bell. Thankfully I was straight B and sometimes A student. Packing my stuff hurriedly back into my backpack, I headed to the cafeteria. It was Taco Monday and Saph and Aria already rushed to lunch.

Getting closer to the cafeteria, I was suddenly pulled into the bathroom. I let out a scream but it came out muffled due to a thick, hard male arm holding my mouth. My first guess of the culprit was Lucas and immediately his hand came off, I spun around to face him and give him a piece of my mind.

My mouth snapped shut as I met a pair of intriguing hazel eyes. Soon not to my awareness, I was lifted onto the bathroom’s counter. Tearing my eyes away from his, I took look at my surroundings to notice that, I was in the girl's bathroom and it was empty.
What’s happening? The girl's bathroom was never empty.

My brain was still on shutdown until finally, I snapped out of it. My eyes widen in shock as I see our school's popular bad boy, Reese Anderson staring right back at me.

“Hey, Noelle." He said his gaze leaves my face and moves over to my lips. “Reese, what the hell—” I was saying but was cut off when he mashed our lips together.

My eyes widened in shock at his action. His eyes were shut close; slowly I shut my eyes, giving in to the kiss. I pulled him closer to me and he cupped the back of my head and deepen the kiss. “Oh Lord” He tasted familiar and like chocolates. As of today, chocolate is my favorite new thing. I was thankful that I was seated on the counter, if not, I would have fell to the ground.

Smiling against my lips, he pulled away from me after stealing two more kisses from me.

“I couldn’t stop thinking about you all weekend, God, I missed you,” he said bringing his hand to touch my face tenderly.

I looked squarely at him with a blank expression. What was wrong with him? Kissing me out of nowhere? And like that?

Then I did what a panicking, confused girl would do? I slapped him.
