Chapter 39

The air crackled with raw energy as Lloyd and the ninja faced off against the Omega, who towered over them like a monstrous obsidian statue come to life. Crimson light blazed from his eyes, casting long, menacing shadows across the battlefield.

"I thought we banished them!" Lloyd exclaimed, his voice laced with disbelief and a hint of fear. The golden power he had painstakingly reacquired thrummed through his veins, yet it felt... different. Subdued, almost.

Garmadon, surprisingly calm despite the monstrous foe before them, scoffed. "Clearly not, son. Seems the Oni are like cockroaches – resilient little buggers." He brandished his dual katanas, the metal gleaming in the dim light. "Looks like it's time for a family reunion... of sorts."

The Omega let out a guttural roar, the sound shaking the very foundations of the chamber. A wave of dark energy pulsed outwards, slamming into the ninja with a bone-jarring force. Kai, caught off guard, was thrown back against the wall, landing in a heap with a groan.

" Keep going, guys!" Cole yelled, ever the optimistic one.

Jay, his nunchucks a blur of lightning, zapped another Oni warrior, sending him sparking and sputtering. "Easy for you to say, Cole! These guys are tough!"

Nya, her water swirling around her like a protective shield, blasted a group of Oni with a torrent of water. "We need a plan!" she shouted over the din of battle.

Zane, his movements precise and deadly, sliced through an Oni warrior with his shurikens. "Perhaps we can exploit their weakness to light," he suggested, his voice calm amidst the chaos.

Cole, ever the optimist, yelled above the din, "Alright team, regroup! We've faced tougher odds before!" He slammed his hammer into the ground, a small earthquake rippling outwards, momentarily breaking the Omega's focus.

Nya, her eyes narrowed, unleashed a torrent of water at the monstrous being. The water sizzled and evaporated as it touched the Omega's obsidian skin, leaving behind only a faint hiss.

"Water won't work!" Zane called out, his voice a monotone despite the urgency of the situation. He fired a barrage of ice shards from his Techno-Blade, but the shards shattered harmlessly against the Omega's form.

Lloyd gritted his teeth, frustration warring with a newfound determination. This wasn't the same Oni they had faced before. This one felt... stronger more focused. He needed to understand why his Golden Power felt incomplete.

As the Omega raised a giant fist, ready to crush Zane who stood closest, Lloyd sprang into action. A surge of green energy propelled him forward, slamming into the Omega's fist with a force that sent shockwaves through the chamber.

The impact did little to faze the monstrous being, but it bought Zane precious seconds to dodge out of the way. Lloyd, however, stumbled back, the golden power flickering around him like a dying flame.

"What's happening?" he cried out, staring at his hand in disbelief. The green power seemed to be draining from him, leaving him weak and vulnerable.

The Omega, seemingly amused by Lloyd's predicament, let out another earth-shattering roar. He lunged forward, a giant obsidian hand reaching out to crush the weakened Lloyd.

Just as the hand was about to make contact, a figure materialized between Lloyd and the Omega. It was Garmadon, his katanas raised in a defensive stance. He met the Omega's blow head-on, the clash of metal against obsidian creating a deafening clang.

"Don't worry, son," Garmadon grunted, his voice strained. "I've got this... for now."

The sight of his father, ever the protector, filled Lloyd with a surge of conflicting emotions. Gratitude warred with a desperate need to understand his own limitations. He couldn't just stand there, helpless. He had to find a way to use his Golden Power, to fight alongside his father and the ninja.

As Garmadon and the Omega grappled, Lloyd closed his eyes, focusing on the faint spark of green power within him. He visualized his past battles, the times he had used his power to protect Ninjago. He channeled his emotions – the fear, the determination, the love for his friends and family.

But it came out purple.

" Wait.... what?!" Lloyd stuttered, staring at his hands. " How did that just.....?"

" No time to dwell on what just happened, Lloyd, but I think you're getting used to your Oni side." Garmadon had a small smile playing at his lips.

A surge of panic coursed through Lloyd. Purple. The color radiated from his hands, a dark mirror of the golden power he once wielded. It pulsed with chaotic energy, a stark contrast to the calming warmth of his former power. Hatred, a long-suppressed emotion, flared within him, fueled by the Oni half he tried so desperately to ignore.

"No!" he roared, the sound echoing through the chamber, laced with a primal rage that surprised even him. He clenched his fists, the purple light intensifying. The air around him crackled with a dark energy, threatening to lash out.

Garmadon, still locked in his own struggle with the Omega, glanced at Lloyd with a mixture of concern and a hint of amusement. "Easy there, son. Remember, control is key."

But control was the furthest thing from Lloyd's mind. His vision blurred with a wave of purple, the anger threatening to consume him. He saw the Omega, the destruction it wreaked, and a primal urge to fight back, to unleash the full force of this newfound power, surged through him.

"I don't want control!" he yelled back, the words laced with venom. "I want to stop it!" He lunged forward, the purple energy crackling around him like a malevolent aura.

Garmadon, caught off guard by Lloyd's sudden outburst, barely had time to react. He sidestepped the monstrous fist aimed at him, and watched in a mix of horror and fascination as Lloyd launched himself at the Omega.

The collision between the two figures was unlike anything they had witnessed before. Purple energy met obsidian skin, creating a shockwave that sent tremors through the chamber. The ninja, momentarily stunned, watched as Lloyd grappled with the Omega, their movements blurring with dark energy.

The fight was brutal, devoid of the elegant maneuvers Lloyd was known for. He was a whirlwind of purple fury, unleashing blasts of dark energy that tore chunks off the Omega's obsidian hide. But for every blow Lloyd landed, the Omega seemed to retaliate with even greater ferocity.

"Lloyd, stop!" Kai shouted, his voice barely audible over the din. "You're losing yourself!"

But Lloyd seemed deaf to their pleas. Consumed by rage, his Oni side was taking over, reveling in the destructive power coursing through him.

Garmadon, however, saw the danger in his son's eyes. He knew that if Lloyd continued down this path, he would become no different than the Omega he was fighting.

With a deep breath, Garmadon disengaged from his own fight and rushed towards Lloyd. Just as Lloyd was about to unleash another devastating blast of purple energy, Garmadon grabbed him from behind, holding him in a tight grip.

"Lloyd, listen to me!" Garmadon yelled, his voice firm but laced with concern. "This isn't you! This power will consume you!"

The sudden restraint snapped Lloyd out of his rage-fueled frenzy. He looked at his purple-drenched hands, then back at his father, his eyes filled with confusion and a flicker of fear.

"What... what happened?" he stammered, his voice trembling. "Why is my power... purple?"

Garmadon met his son's gaze, his expression serious. "You're tapping into your Oni side, Lloyd. It's powerful, but it's dangerous. You have to control it, or it will control you."

Lloyd stared at his hands, disgust twisting his features. He hated this power, this part of him. It felt alien, destructive, everything he wasn't.

"There has to be another way," he whispered, his voice filled with despair. "I can't fight like this."

Garmadon squeezed his son's shoulder reassuringly. "There is another way," he said. "But we need to figure it out together. Right now, we need to focus on stopping this thing."

He glanced at the Omega, who was slowly regaining its footing after Lloyd's onslaught. "We need a plan, and fast. But this time, a plan that utilizes both your strength and your control."

Lloyd took a deep breath, trying to quell the remnants of rage within him. He knew his father was right. He couldn't succumb to the darkness, not when Ninjago needed him most. He needed to find a way to use this power for good, to channel its destructive potential into something constructive.

"Alright," he said, his voice regaining its determination. "Let's do this."
